'We hate the United States': Secessionists rally in Texas

For some folks in Texas, the prospect of a universal health care scheme isn't just cause for protest and debate -- it's reason enough to secede from the United States altogether.

Some 200 people rallied at the State Capitol in Austin on Saturday, a small but vocal crowd that set itself in opposition to pro-health care reform protesters.

Larry Kilgore, a Christian activist that the Texas Observer says has advocated execution for homosexuals, "drew some murmurs of disapproval" when he told the crowd: “I hate that flag up there. ... I hate the United States government. … They’re an evil, corrupt government. They need to go. Sovereignty is not good enough. Secession is what we need!”

“We hate the United States!” he declared later in his address.

Although the Texas independence movement is nothing new, observers say it has been given new life by the debate over health care, which some secessionists see as an attack on the US Constitution, and therefore grounds for abandoning the Union.

But many observers place responsibility for the movement's growth in prominence on Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who in April suggested that the Obama administration's policies may drive Texas to leave the United States.

"If Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that," Brian Beutler at TalkingPointsMemo quoted Perry. "But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

"Rick Perry's talk of secession appears to have buoyed efforts by Texas secessionists who want the governor to follow through," Dallas Morning News reporter Wayne Slater blogged on Sunday.

Slater went on to debunk some of the assertions made by the secessionists:

Another self-styled patriot invoked George Washington as an ally of secession (History lesson: Washington presided over creation of the union) and Sam Houston - "You go ask Sam Houston what he thought about secession. He did it anyway." (History lesson: Houston opposed secession. He ran for governor as an independent Unionist in 1859. Despite his efforts, the people of Texas voted to secede, and he was forced out of office in March 1861.)

As the Texas Observer notes, no prominent Texas politicians showed up to the event, not even the 70 or so members of the state legislature who supported a declaration (PDF) earlier this year affirming the sovereignty of Texas over its own constitutional affairs.

Prior to the protest, organizer Gerry Donaldson told Robert Moon of Examiner.com that secessionists are "calling for an orderly process that will allow our federal government to fall back in line with the Constitution. ... Either we will restore America, we will live in a Marxist dictatorship, or we will secede and start over again."

"For his part, Perry says he never advocated secession - only resistance to federal programs that infringe on states' rights," the Morning News' Slater reports. "The message is part of his anti-Washington appeal to the right-wing of the Republican Party in advance of next March's GOP primary against [prominent Texas Republican] Kay Bailey Hutchison."

    I'm in Houston and, although there a lot of right wing crazies around, most of us actually voted against our secessionist Governor last time. Rick Perry believes he speaks for a majority of Texans with this secessionist nonsense, but he got only 39% of the vote in the last election. But he understands, probably better than does Kay Bailey, that the hard core True Believers in the Texas GOP vote in primaries. Inflaming this issue is all part of his effort to remain in office. But if Rick Perry is actually serious about secession, I hope he is courageous enough to be out in front when this band of traitors try to take over Ft. Hood.

    But the secessionists are not patriots. And it goes without saying they are assholes.

Mexico is a modern, civilized country where citizens enjoy universal health care and are not tortured by the barbaric practice of capital punishment. Mexico has never instigated a war of aggression, whereas a Texas Anglo started two baseless wars of aggression in the first decade of this century alone.

    WHY is my native state such an embarrassment? For all of you up north, Houston, South Texas, Austin and San Antonio have very few of these lunatics and are relatively normal places. West Texas (Crawford!) and the rural areas breed this kind of lunacy.

    Umm, try getting some of that "free" health care in Texas...even when I was a state employee, my insurance was junk. That's what happens when you have no income tax and major effort at union-busting; are you happy with losing all your jobs and getting all your stuff from Walmart yet?

There is one thing though--call it a pet peeve of mine--and that's the reference to "the man sitting on the throne" part. Kings sit on thrones and consider themselves all powerful. The leader of America is not an all powerful king. Since we are a republic, I don't think we should start suggesting (even in jest) that that is the kind of reverence or power the American people want to give our elected leadership. We're already having enough problems with our leadership as it is. :)

    Born and raised in Texas. Worked and lived for many, many years in Texas radio, cities like Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Austin. These secessionist groups have long been a fact of life in Texas, and they've long been considered as charter members of the lunatic fringe. Far as I'm concerned they still are. Further, far as I'm concerned, any politicia who gives even the tiniest bit of lip service, Rick Perry's sand crab imitation be damned, should be tied to an oil platform at the begining of hurricane season and left to fend for himself.

    Truth is I love Texas and am still mostly proud to be from there, though I now live in another state. It is, I must say to my fellow Texans, growing more and more difficult to defend my birthplace. And, there likely will come a day when I won't be able to defend her at all. I'm closing in on a week visiting and holding watch over my gravely ill son who likely would not be so ill were our health care system as good as it could and SHOULD be. During this time, I've been listening to former colleagues for whom I once held tremendous respect, spouting the most ridiculous right wing bilge I've ever hear, at a radio station where I once proudly worked. Just like these secessionist morons, the are sadly in need of some remedial histor classes.

    Sooo....I guess this means that the UNITED States isn't. Who would have thunk it? In Canada, the change in attitude that seemed to kill the seperatist activists in Quebec was a growing sentiment to say, go ahead. Their strength diminished when people increasingly stopped reacting. It is hard to have a fight when the supposed enemy does not show up for the fight. In the meantime, the federal government went ahead with addressing issues to continue building the nation, not allowing the extreme views to gain and hold center stage. The difference in America is you seek out and publicize, even celebrate the crazies and this media bias sets the agenda. On healthcare for example, you would likely get 80% agreeing with a set of principles about being fair and ensuring treatment, yet the 20% who are opposed, almost always based on being suckered by lobby groups and voting against their own interests, these 20% get 80% or more of the coverage and give the impression of a split that does not exist. The lesson is to demand the media fairly represent the issues, stop doing the man bites dog approach to news and secondly, to invite the 20% to go ahead, split if they want.

    I recently talked to a former Marine who was born in Canada and moved to the US prior to entering the service. He was in his mid 50's and had four children with his also Canadian born wife. Two of the kids were born in Canada and the other two in the US. He had NOTHING good to say about the health care in Canada and in fact stated that the two kids that were born in Canada were born in a nightmare system compared with that of ours. He asked. why would anyone want that system? He also compared Canadian health care with our own VA.

    You get what you pay for I guess.

And like the pledge that these right-wingers so mindlessly love to spout, America is "indivisible"- meaning not subject to secession. Lincoln pointed this out to the South back in 1861 in another situation where right-wing Southerners wanted to take their ball and go home after an election. They chose not to listen and forced him to spank them severely. I'd advise them to not write any checks they can't cash.

    This article fails to report that just a block away there were 2000 pro healthcare reform citizens of Texas attending a pro healthcare reform forum at the same time. Speakers included Texas Congressman Lloyd Doggett, Austin's Mayor, doctors, and others speaking on behalf of healthcare reform and the public option. The successionist crowd tried to interrupt the forum but were unsuccessful.

    I live in Texas & I would consider the secessionists to on the fringe for the most part.
    In & around Houston there are a great deal of people who are very right wing (Austin it's not). Most would not seriously follow the secessionists but they still think W was a good President which tells you enough about what they think about Obama & the health-care proposals.
    I think there is some validity to the idea that some if not many on the far right are ticked off mainly because we have a Black President (they also would be pissed off at the fact we have a Democratic President).
    Texas is changing demographically & that also scares the begeezus out of these folks. Within 10 to 20 years Texas should easily turn blue. The repubs have pretty much given up on the Hispanic vote & that is gonna bite them in the ass sooner than they'll want...

    I thought that the secessionist thing was settled over 100 years ago when the Union went to war to force the "Confederate States of America" back into the union.

    No state has the right to secede from the Union. There is no provision for this in the US Constitution.

    However, as others have said, if these people hate the US so much they are free to leave it whenever they like. There are lots of other countries in the world that would take them. Let them move to Mexico or some right-wing dictatorship in Central or South America.

    all the anti-Texas sentiments aside, I really must remind folks of the progressive history of the state. It was a native Texan who pushed through the 1964 Civil Rights Act and signed it. That Lyndon Johnson did so for enirely pragmatic reasons is irrelevant... the fact remains that he threw his significant political savvy behind it.

    And I'll also remind folks that neither former President Bush is, or ever was, a native born Texan. Shrub's daddy had a modicum of political talent, but his son was born a doofus and will die one when that time comes for him.

    As for Molly Ivins, I once knew the woman well and miss her terribly. She could skewer an arrogant/ignorant politician with the very best of 'em and I dearly wish our media were still capable of growng writers like Molly Ivins.

    Leopold Kohr in "Breakdown of Nations" wrote that, if things are going wrong, it's probably because it has become too big (too manage).

And that the main group of people who placed many a Ron Paul sticker in the area had Ft. Hood listed as their residence? Hmmm.... The local farmers in the area have openly invited those stationed at Ft. Hood t come out and hunt the local game, at no cost. Tomorrow starts dove season here, and 25 active duty soldiers will be on my farm alone tomorrow, most coming in the evening when they get off of duty. We will share some Texas BBQ and shiner beer after the weapons are secured. We will talk of politics and current goings on in our country, two things that I've noticed the current soldiers hold a great interest in.
    Then October will roll around, and the even more devoted deer bow-hunters will show up, with even deeper conversations than the bird hunting only crowd, the on November 1st, comes the rifle deer season.... It's been like this since I could remember.

    The soldiers have made their intentions VERY clear, many have family in other states, and intend to abandon their posts to be with their families to defend them.. Others have made a commitment within themselves on what to do when those unlawful orders come down to cut down their fellow Americans.. Let's just say more than a few officers are in for a nasty surprise(especially from fellow officers..).

    Central Texas is absolutely electrified with the buzz of revolution, on both sides of this situation. All here have NO illusions that this area will be spared some of the worst of this coming conflagration. Weather it's the local feed store with the farmers, or any of the popular watering holes in the area (Graham Central Station, Wild Country in heights, Ernie's sports bar, etc.) or anyplace else, like the anti-war coffee bar "Under the Hood" just outside of East Gate(always filled with soldiers looking to put the damage of these wars on themselves into context, and the place stays crowded..), the topic of revolution hangs heavy in the air, especially with the soldiers, who know what terrible choices they will be forced to make, and the horrific consequences we ALL will perish under or live with for the rest of our lives... But they will talk to you about it, if they trust you, especially if they are your friend.

    Did you think you could treat these guys AND girls the way this nation has and that all of us combat Veterans who settled around the base would not reach out and do our damnedest to help our wounded brethren? Nobody was there for them who understood.     The older Vets got involved after what they saw at the pharmacy lines at Darnell Army hospital: Young soldiers outnumbering the old Vets of many eras, and taking away BAGS filled with dozens of prescriptions. A few finally asked what the heck was going on, and got some answers from the soldiers: Many of the soldiers are on enough anti-depressants, mood-stabilizers, and anti-psychotics to medicate a blue whale... You simply have to stay away from the "pill heads" as they are the ones who mindlessly do what they are told, without emotion. They've had all their emotion medicated out of them. The army also watches anybody who doesn't get on the pill wagon, they constitute the "threat" when homeland security was talking about returning Vet's returning and joining militia groups. They aren't too worried about the medicated ones, those folks are under complete control, and if they try to get their soul back by getting off the meds, they are the most likely to kill themselves... Pretty convenient, huh??

    Having just won a revolution, the Founders were faced with constituting a new nation. Under the constitutional plan devised by the Founders, they had to identify who were the members of the new nation. They called these members “citizens” of the United States. Thus, they created our first generation of United States “citizens.” These persons were either born abroad or in the British colonies before July 4, 1776 or abroad or in the new States thereafter, but in all cases inhabited one of the colonies or States and were loyal to the American revolution. The Founders under Article II grandfathered these original “citizens” to be eligible to be President. Under this plan, once the new nation had its first generation “citizens,” it was placed in position to have in the future its Article II “natural born Citizens,” who would be born in the United States after the adoption of the Constitution and descend from mothers and fathers who were both original “citizens.” Given that America was already a land of immigrants and that the Founders expected that many more immigrants would come to its shores in search of a new life and to share in its vast resources, they gave Congress in Article I, Sec. 8, cl. 4 the power to naturalize aliens and thereby create more future first generation United States “citizens.” Having become a naturalized “citizen,” one would then be in a position to procreate with another “citizen” (born or similarly naturalized) a “natural born Citizen” who would be eligible to be President.

    Throughout American history, there have been no doubts or disputes as to who is a “natural born Citizen.” As we have seen, it was not English common law but the law of nations that became United States common law that defined a “natural born Citizen.” [Link to Prior Article on The Law of Nations and The Principles of Natural Law] It defined such a citizen as being born in the country to parents who are themselves citizens. It is this definition which our United States Supreme Court incorporated into our federal common law.     On the other hand, throughout our history, there have been doubts and disputes as to who may be a born “citizen” (as distinguished from a “natural born Citizen” or a naturalized citizen). These disputes have concerned the question of whether to be a “citizen,” must a child be simply born on U.S. soil and be subject to its jurisdiction, without any reference to the citizenship of the parents (jus soli which follows the old English common law), or must that child also be born to U.S. citizen parents (jus soli and jus sanguinis united which follows the law of nations’ definition and which any way only applies to “natural born citizens”). This dispute has concerned the question of whether we should declare a child a first generation “citizen” (in effect having the same status as one of the original first generation “citizens” which Article II grandfathered to be eligible to be President). Obama has admitted that under the British Nationality Act 1948 when he was born, his father was a British subject/citizen and not a U.S. citizen and that he himself was a British subject/citizen by descent from his father. Therefore, what is clear and established by his own factual admissions is that Obama cannot satisfy the definition of an Article II “natural born Citizen,” for he was born with allegiance and loyalty not only to the United States (assuming he was born here) but to the same degree also to Great Britain. The best that Obama can be is a Fourteenth Amendment “citizen,” assuming that he was born in the United States and assuming that one born subject to a foreign power can also be born subject to the full and complete legal and political jurisdiction of the United States. In such a case, he would be a subsequent generation “citizen” through his American mother but only a first generation “citizen” because of his foreign father. If Obama was not born in the United States or if being born in the United States he was not born subject to its jurisdiction, then he is not even a “citizen” under the Fourteenth Amendment or any applicable Congressional Act. Hence, we can see that Obama is missing the mandatory Article II constitutional status of being at a minimum a second generation “citizen” through both a citizen mother and citizen father. What creates further allegiance and loyalty problems for Obama is that his birthright British citizenship, which continues in effect until today, also allowed him to gain Kenyan citizenship from the age of 2 to the age of 21 or 23. Being 47 years old when he was elected, just his Kenyan allegiance and loyalty occupied him for almost one-half of his then life span.

    It is Obama’s being only a first generation U.S. citizen because of his father not being a United States citizen at Obama’s birth that caused his divided allegiance and loyalty at birth (United States v. British and Kenyan) and disqualifies him to be President and Commander in Chief. It is through his father that Obama was born with allegiance and loyalty to Great Britain (which continues until today), which then converted to allegiance and loyalty to Kenya. It does not matter that his mother was a United States citizen because at birth Obama inherited allegiance and loyalty to a foreign power (Great Britain) from his father just as he would have inherited allegiance and loyalty to a foreign power if born to parents who were both non-United States citizens. By Obama’s mother being a United States citizen at his birth, Obama was just spared acquiring even another foreign allegiance and loyalty. Just like a naturalized citizen who--despite taking an oath renouncing all foreign allegiances and loyalties and which incidentally Obama has never done--cannot be President because he or she is born with allegiance and loyalty to a foreign country, Obama, born with allegiance and loyalty to a foreign country, also cannot be President. All this leads to the inescapable conclusion that Obama is not an Article II "natural born Citizen" and is therefore ineligible to be President and Commander in Chief of the Military.

    When I first came down to Texas on a military contract (yeah, I'm one of those "damn yankees" who stayed, from the same state as that nitwit former pres. W. who was born in connecticut like me), I worked on a military contract with a partner who was somewhat of a redneck and secessionist. Some of us Texans have seen the base for what it is since they opened it: An occupational army. The government literally stole the land, and left the hardworking farmers homeless and broke, as they paid 1\100th what the land was worth, and nothing for the livestock.     The entire idea of secession so that the current corrupt group of lunies can extend their egos and plans all the way to Mexico is frightening. I live in a little town where the local muni judge is a corrupt cracker that rounds up citizens and fines them for all kinds of ridiculous things so that he can pay his own salary. Then DPS which is thoroughly infiltrated with goose-stepping 4th Reichers who want to do what Rick tells them backs up the municipal and county courts by not permitting people to get their driver's licenses until they pay outrageous fines--half the time for nothing. I think that rather than secede, it is time to clean things up in Texas and across the country.

    The first thing that needs to happen is to defund the Dept of Homeland Security and use that money to find and remove all the remnants of the pusch under Bush that is being carried forward under Obama. Next, it is time to redefine the military role in this country. Our forefathers wanted a militia that was pulled together when the occasion required the DEFENSE OF OUR COUNTRY. They would be having heart attacks over the idea of a military that is used to secure advantages for multinational corporations. They would be horrified at the use of the military to administer vaccinations at gunpoint, particularly of a vaccine whose efficacy and safety is not proven. We need to shut down the 800 plus bases overseas, bring our people back home and begin rebuilding this country beginning with going back to the taxation that our forefathers intended. They meant to keep multi-nationals under control by taxing them...not giving them tax breaks to send jobs overseas.

    We also need our military to help all of us put the people who have acted in a treasonous manner towards this country into jail.

    We need to redefine state, federal and local government to meet our needs not remake citizens to meet the government's needs. That includes demanding to know why our country has enormous amounts of money OFFSHORE earmarked as privately held funds for the government. Those of you wondering what I am talking about, just research CAFR (Consolidated Annual Financial Reports). The CAFR is the real financial reports of the US and state governments.

    Also check out benjaminfulford.typepad.com His latest blog discusses "government ownership" of up to 70 percent of the Japanese GDP. What he is talking about is the government of Japan actually running for profit activities using government funds to start them and then creating laws to force people to use those activities with the profits going into accounts that are hidden from the people. Also, these activities have profits and dividends that are usually paid to higher ups in government.

    We need to get rid of all the secrecy...all of it. That means no more NSA, CIA, DHS, FBI, DIA and military intelligence conducting any operations of any kind domestically or abroad that the PEOPLE don't know about. We go back to a militia system where the control is in the hands of the people via their governors. MARTIAL LAW IS OUTLAWED PERMANENTLY AND THE INTERNMENT CAMPS ARE ONLY USED FOR CORRUPT POLITICIANS, PUBLIC SERVANTS, THEIR LACKEYS AND ASSIGNEES.

    WE REVERSE ALL privatization of government activities because why should we pay a profit on activities that we need? IT is stupid.....let's reduce what is done for us and make sure that what is done is run by our government with strict control by us. No more exempting Congress from FOIA requests. No more big mansions in Washington...they live in a dormitory like they did in the earlier years of the Republic and they come home on the weekends.

    If we simply reduce the activities of our state and federal governments to just what we need from them and stop all the siphoning via these government-owned businesses that don't pay dividends to the people who actually financed them (you and me), then we can cut all the taxes across the board. We can restructure government to make it more accountable to the people and stop the use of citizens as the government ATM.

    I don't want to secede, I want to see succeed and I want that for my children and their children.

    We have all been fooled - we were told to line up behind either the Democrats or Republicans - pick one side only. But, they are both on the same side - the corporate side. In reality, it isn't Democrat v. Republican, it is corporate v. individual.

    The founders of our country placed the highest value on individual rights and freedoms over governmental intrusion. That is why we have the Bill of Rights - the Ten Amendments to the Constitution. However, our individual rights have been severely devalued over time.

    It may hurt a little, but start thinking about the other alternative that exists - Libertarian. Maybe you should vote Libertarian - and live libertarian. Be forewarned, though, that means you carry responsibility for yourself - you have to be self-reliant - and you won't be able to tell someone else how to live.

    God damn...Wow...I live in Oregon, I am for the most part liberal in my views, and I have heard it all from folks from Texas. I'm a "tree hugger" or whatever else they can call me just because of where I'm from...Then they learned how to talk to me and have a conversation with me. Figuring out that I love and support the constitution. So at times, as we all have, I didn't talk with very smart people. However, I look at the bigger picture here. I see a very urgent topic here and issue on hand. Something that US Government should care about and fall back on respecting the constitution to respect others even if they might be a little crazy! You don't have to like these guys but I don't see a reason to be total dicks and spit in their face...Something most of you posters are more than willing to do. It's one thing to make your point, but I see no points made in these replies. Just name calling and over and over: "Don't let the door hit you on the way out". You guys are assholes and worthless people. You folks can't even express why these guys might be full of shit or actually upset. You just have to get your selfish out of context view out there at any cost, huh?

    This is a major issue...Lets say Texas did this...It could create a huge level of conflict leading to martial law or people getting killed. The constitution isn't a joke...When I see people with a oh well to hell with Texas attitude, it just simply says to me you don't care about the future and care of this country or it's people. You just simply want your life to keep going on it's everyday boring course.
    It's sad. We got crazy people on both sides and in the end the constitution becomes a topic of taboo.

    We wish it were so easy to be rid of the noisy idiots in this country but, even if we deported these people, or "expelled" Texas as one commenter recommended, areas like the West Coast would still produce even worse. A long list is possible but i would mention the "Reverend" Pike of Oregon, Frosty Wooldridge of California and Arizona, that advocate of killing gays up in Kansas, those people at White Aryan Nation in supposedly "progressive" Northern California, and on and on.

    Whenever some very small group of nutties choose Texas as their place from which to get attention they get it, yet the same kind of people and in even greater number hardly seem to get any coverage from California-centric or East Coast media centers when it's happening in their own backyards. Of course, the Coasters always narcissistically imagine they are so wonderful, when in fact a lot of the problem in places like Texas is, among other things from the rest of the US, all the Republicans that have moved to Texas over more than twenty years from such great centers of high culture and progressivism as Ohio (I am being sarcastic, for those of you who are too "dense" to get it), Michigan, California (of course) and so on to work in various Texas industries, notably electronics, which you'd think would attract more intelligent people than it has.

    Anyway, I wish it were as simple as letting a bunch of ignorant crazies from all over the US move to some nutlife preserve attached to Texas and then let them just secede or buy up some Mexican border region and have to live with each others' sick dictates, but the other states of the still very narcissistic persona disordered USA will still generate plenty of ignorant, sick-minded, stupid, evil (and should we say) buttholes to mess everything up.

    First you might want to look at how much you've been part of the problem, say by being part of a lame but very smug opposition party for example, before you figure out what the problem is with these "secessionist" US-haters who get all this unwarranted attention for nothing. Continued attention to some kooks that plunk down on the Capitol steps in Austin would be like making a hyperventilating national news story about some random bible thumpers on Sproul Plaza at UC Berkeley, something that wouldn't happen because those identifying with narcissistic national or state personae (e.g. "California" the "Golden State") cannot admit the flaws and falseness of their defensive images.

    An aspirational image can be beneficial, but being enamored with some superficial narcissistic defensive falsehood has been the basis for US problems since a Hollywood actor and much reelected California Governor was chosen by confused and defensive Americans over someone who might have helped bring substance to American dreams. America has been in love with images, the image of prosperity for example, even if backed only by a Ponzi scheme, or some megachurch evangelicals' false image of virtue and morality, or the smug image of progressive Democrats or of self righteously "patriotic" Republicans and neo-conservatives. Have any of you smuggy types asked the tea partiers and their like where is their plan? If they have something then good, put it out there for public criticism. If they're plan-less as well as clueless then you might just tell 'em to put up or shut up. If you people have any sense at all out there I don't have to write much more for you to figure this stuff out and apply the ideas further.

    Much as these vermin nipping at tourists' ankles and politicians heels on the Capitol steps may need some Hav-A-Hart traps and relocating to some zoo or preserve where we can view their antics and predations from a safe distance, we should bear in mind that very few of tens of millions of Texans even know they exist, not to mention support their peculiar notions.

    When does Texas send diplomats to DC and how big will the Texas embassy be in Washington? Will we need to garrison it and ring it with missiles like the US in Baghdad? Will Texas have embassies in London, Paris, Madrid, or Mexico City like it used to have? So many details, it might just be a great idea if we could have a better rather than worse country than the USA. Maybe Texas can be better than the US at providing for the modern basics like healthy food, appropriate housing, good health, true education, and meaningful work, and do that in a land where freedom does not mean the freedom to kill people because you don't like who they love, or that European Dark Age Catholic Christian Conquistador language they speak, or that race they may share with Native Americans or maybe the President of the formerly United States of America, or what have you. However, I remain skeptical, given that the US's founding fathers were not the most advanced thinkers of their time either.

    Once Washington finishes destroying the Dollar, all it will have left to wield as power is raw military and police force, that is if any military or police will co-operate. Very likely the money the rich men of the earth stole in the bailouts has been used to purchase food and equipment to operate such a citizen army to oppress the very taxpayers the money was stolen from.     I am a Democrat, a Liberal and a secessionist. I have been a secessionist since Bush was in office. In the Texas secession movement, even though Good-Hair Perry has tried to lay claim to it, you will find more independents than hard-core conservatives. I have found a freedom in the issue of secession that I have not found in any other organizations and parties. These people actually are willing to discuss solutions instead of the same old Left-Right arguments. I would urge you to look past the rhetoric over this issue and remember that in 2004, us Dems were talking secession from Baby Bush without batting an eye. Not much has changed in Bush's third term *ahem* I mean Obama's first term. Again, I am a liberal Democrat and I am a Texas nationalist.
