Radio host visited by Secret Service after alleged threat against Obama

A Brooksville, Florida radio talk show host had his wig tightened by the U.S. Secret Service after an agent paid him a visit over an alleged threat against the President of the United States.

Right wing pundit Bob Haa, whose station -- WWJB AM 1450 -- also airs Neoconservative talkers like Sean Hannity and Michael Savage, says he made no threat against President Barack Obama when a listener called up to talk about his ammunition collection and antipathy toward the current administration.

"A caller calls in, and man this guy is torqued," explained listener Craig Bolton, who spoke with The St. Petersburg Times. "He says, 'Man, I'm ticked and frustrated at Obama, I'm loading up on ammunition, I'm going to be practicing.' And Haa says, 'Don't be wasting it on targets. Save it for the administration.'"

The Times had to get a paraphrase from a listener because, surprisingly, audio of the show is unavailable.

"Why would I say something like that?" Haa asked a Hernando Today reporter. "That's stupid."

He further told the reporter that his shows are not regularly taped, though since "[there's] a real nationwide effort to go after conservatives," future broadcasts will be recorded.

The St. Petersburg Times concluded:

Off the air, outside during smoke breaks, he said that the man from the Secret Service was "not pushy or threatening," but that the whole investigation was "nonsense," "childish" and "moronic."

He snuffed out another cigarette and went back inside. He walked back down the hallway toward the studio. He stopped at the door and turned.

"What if I actually had said that?" he asked. "So what? This is America!"

Haa's show, the "Bob Haywire Hootenanny," airs mornings in Florida's Hernando County.

That's cool if you want to say that. And you're right in America you can say whatever you want. But... in America there's also laws. One comes to mind... conspiracy to commit murder. Or how about aiding and abetting a murder? If the president gets assassinated and you're complicit, you get the needle too. How's that for America? And there'll be thousands of African Americans in the prison with you, who will know it was you who put some nutjob up to assassinating the first African American president. I wonder what they'll do to you? How's that for America?

  2. Becky

How dumb can you get? Free speech doesn't allow for making death threats over the public airwaves. Heck, we have freedom but Janet Jackson got in trouble for showing a nipple. There are still laws, idiot.

  3. miss skeptic

"Why would I say something like that?" Haa asked a Hernando Today reporter. "That's stupid."

Hard to argue with that logic. It's unecessary to add any other comment.

  4. Fukum

I'm headed to Brooksville tomrrie with my Obama sticker on my van...these people are nuts down here, they spit on their black republican cohorts at the meetings, even tho Brooksville is at least 50% black...whatever

  5. C.VAL

Like most neocons, this fool doesn't know the law. But he's been warned. Next time they'll catch him on tape.

  6. Tom

How convenient. The audio tape of the radio show "is unavailable".

Looks like the Republicans they have that "18.5 minute gap" routine down to a science.

  7. dont threaten the Führer, its a no-no lest the gestapo (SS=Secret service?) come for thee.....

  8. Victor

I concur with the comment by "If". So why isn't the U.S. Secret Service visiting the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, the folks at Fox & Friends, etc. etc. and pulling their coats? They consistently are being allowed to incite violence, promote racist views and fear mongering in their daily broadcasts. I feel that the Secret Service you pay a special visit to Rupert Murdoch and shut down News Corp. all together.

  9. Tom Hickey

There's free speech, and there's things like making threats and incitement to commit a crime, and the like. Nut jobs don't seem to get this.

I'm sure this guy, being a media person, knows all about libel. You can't just say anything you want. That's not what freedom of speech or the press means.

  10. Zog The Obvious

Freedom of speech was not created so that you could incite violence against the President of the United States. If you're gonna appeal to the lunatic fringe, you have to watch what you say. Remember Tiller? Remember how right-wing media incited that murder?

    Same thing, only much bigger.

I'd really like to know what these fucknuts think would happen to this nation if somebody did assassinate the President? Do they think we'll just go back to being a Conservative Heaven?

These people are insane. I fear for my country. Funny how I thought I'd be able to quit saying that when the Chimperor left office....

  11. independent

Neo-conservative's like this psychopath like to scream "free speech" when it applies to them. If people on the Left speak out, this very same asshole would call them "hippies" and yell out to lock them up......especially if they're protesting a war.

Amazing how interested these sub-humans get in the First Amendment all of a sudden when they're on the receiving end of a Secret Service visit.

  12. Spot on If, spot on. There's freedom of expression, but their consequences too. Just like you can't yell out fire in a theater without their being a fire, you can get arrested and if anybody gets hurt or killed you will be responsible. It's called in the case of the radio host incitement to whatever. He may not be 1st person responsible, but he is to blame because he incited a man or woman or group into thinking it's okay to do whatever they wanted to a person or group or a figure. It's the old technique of the king or queen saying out loud to the court who can fix or rid this problem of the court. And what they are hopeing is that somebody will get the code word and go out and do something to the problem at hand. Same in america today, many and I do mean many of the people in the US are mentally and/or emotionally unstable and the powers that be know that. So if they can gin up the crowds enough they know from the law of averages that sooner or later a person or persons will take their psychosis to being physical and do something. It's called being a crash dummy for the elite. They don't care about that person, they just want that mentally defunct person to attack and then everything can be blamed on that person and not them.

  13. "Bob Haywire Hootenanny?"

He ought to be arrested for the show's name...

  14. how the GOP operates

this is how the GOP operates, and unfortunately, the DLC / DCCC is starting to adopt the same feckless turd tactics of derision and fear mongering of those who oppose their NWO agenda.

as for threatening the obomb-a-ton, there is no place for that. though we may disagree with his assholean dictatorship, threatening him is not the answer.

the answer is a massive, tens of millions of people in a circle around Washington, D.C., nothing goes in or out, demand that the government 'resign' and be removed while we elect fresh leaders to it and reform it.

making 'corruption' a capital offense is the only way. death by firing squad or noose if you get caught with your paws in the coffers.

  15. barf

the airwaves are a socialist system that is overseen by the fcc. you need a license to operate a station over the air. they need to renew that license every few years. you can challange any radio stations license. its called the public airwaves, and no you cant just say anything you want. ever hear of the 7 words you cant say.....

    all hail the reichwing...

  16. Veronica

LMAO - Bet Mrs. HaaHaa had to use tons of bleach that night to get the shit stains out from Mr. HaaHaa's tighty-whiteys!

It's obvious he's a repuglicunt - he thinks threats made against the President are 'free speech."

    What a dumbass.

**Spot on If, spot on. There's freedom of expression, but their consequences too. Just like you can't yell out fire in a theater without their being a fire, you can get arrested and if anybody gets hurt or killed you will be responsible. It's called in the case of the radio host incitement to whatever.**

If there are consequences and punishments involved for saying a certain thing, regardless of whether you think it's justified or not, then there obviously isn't freedom of expression, is there, fuckhead?

Freedom of speech means being able to say what you want, PERIOD. No fine print. I don't give a fuck what your or the establishment's excuses, reasons or justifications are. It doesn't matter if the president feels threatened by some pissant radio host or not. It doesn't matter if you want to call it "inciting violence" or whatever obnoxious euphemism you want to use to justify censoring someone like that, it's still free speech. It's words. You know, those things the Constitution is supposed to protect regardless of the circumstances, and the Constitution goes above any pissant law you can pull out of your ass to make this sound OK.

If it's seriously OK for a government agency to harass people for saying stupid shit like this, then there is no freedom of speech anymore. It's not any government agency's place to censor or harass or question or bully people based on the wads of horseshit that spews out of their mouths. Stop trying to justify this. Stop it.

  18. bob

Wow, most of you have very short memories.

I've read for years people saying "shoot bush in the face" "rape his daughters"
And worst nasty things, and you seem to forget these things quickly.

This idiot has a radio show, and unless someone can provided proof of what was said then you all are shooting blanks and spinning your wheels.

You can assume becuase you love Obama that anything that isn't proven is true!

Wake up, stop being the strong arm of the Gov, use some common sense.

Let go of your hate turn away from the dark side.

  19. crook patriots

Of course conservatives are white hot mad...they no longer control the nation's purse strings putting an end to their handing out billions of dollars in no-bid government contracts to their weasel always ripping off the taxpayer corporate buds.

  20. When's the FBI going to tighten Glen Beck's wig in response to his patent threat to Nancy Pelosi?

  21. Hoffman

Perhaps some of you should consider the kind of Freedom of Speech the founding fathers used, and what they had in mind when they wrote the Bill of Rights.

  22. dennycrane

Haa,Haa,Haa......Haa! Wow! This isn't funny. These nut jobs on the "finger-nails-on-chalk-board" radio are no different than a gun nut leaving a loaded gun on a coffee table with kids around. Charles Manson is behind bars for murder and he never left "home." He just sort of "mentioned" that people needed to be slaughtered.

  23. Phillip

It seems most conservatives have gone stark, raving mad. From their fawning support of that winking hillbilly from Alasaka to their vein-bulging, spittle-spraying, self-induced rage that's supposedly directed at health care reform, those people are certified fruitcakes. Eight years of the Bush/Cheney regime and its sycophants in talk radio have left them detached from reality and drifting aimlessly in a fog of slogans and empty promises.

If you'll look carefully at the audiences in those noisy town hall meetings, the raging people are 100% white - I have not seen a single instance of someone of any other race yelling about birth certificates and health care reform. One woman screamed " I want my country back!", as a man off-camera agreed with a loud "Yeah!!!!" The health care and citizenship issues are a mask for their real concern: they feel blacks have taken over America, and they're afraid they're going to get the same treatment they've been giving every other race since this country was founded. They're just a bunch of frightened, white racists who are using every available excuse to vent their fear and rage. I'm a white male, by the way.

  24. wiseturtle

    Another racist, scabby skank!

  25. bayside1022

When cindy sheehan and others wore a peace shirt at a republican gathering she was arrested, dems were thrown out of a republican bush rally because they had a kerry bumper sticker on their car. Lets see the same standreds given to republicans . We have had to deal with double standred and downright threats from TV and radio pundits and its time to ask why...

  26. Mike Valentine

Encouraging people who have ammo in any way is irresponsible to say the least.

  27. independent

    Hoffman,

I'm well versed on the Founders language and they did not make a habit out of calling out particular individuals for death threats. Their language was used in more of a general sense.

  28. NaderKucinichKikeNippleRub

"I've read for years people saying "shoot bush in the face" "rape his daughters""

    Citation please.

  30. disappointed voter

Conservatives are scum. There's really no other way to describe them.

  31. Jethro the Zonk

That song by Randy Neuman keeps resonating in my head....it's called "REDNECKS".....They don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. This pathetic inbred country hick (refer to really ugly picture with microphone in hand) dares make a death threat to the president and he thinks it's his "right" to do this.....

Well.....guess what....it's NOT your right to do this.....you dumb pathetic cracker.....you may be trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator with your KKK/rethuglikkkan listening audience, but the times...."they are a changin".....get used to it.

It's time to burn that confederate flag you most likely have hanging above your bed.

  32. katio

So, Bob # 18, this is the point. As much as I detested the policies of the Bush administration, and as much as I believed that their "election" was illegitimate, I would never have said the kind of things that you are quoting. In fact, even though most of the people I know were against the policies of that regime, I never heard anyone say such a thing. I guess that is because I would not associate with anyone who talked that way. In addition, if I had heard someone talking that way and thought they were serious, I would have reported them. I think this kind of speech and behavior is damaging to the very fabric of our democracy and our nation. Yes, speak out about the things you disagree with and take your revenge in the ballot box. I continue to be shocked that conservatives in positions of power seem to be condoning this kind of behavior.

  33. delirious

I'm sure the reps from Secret Service apprised this uneducated, chain-smoking fool of Title 18 of the Patriot Act. Why do you think Charlie Manson is imprisoned and he was never at any of the crime scenes?

This guy stands warned - the next comment he makes from his pie-hole will land his sorry a$$ in jail for "aiding and abetting". That's how Manson's been kept in the hole for 40 years.

Talk on, idiot! Your kind eventually ends up doing time.

  34. FreedomOfInformationAct

Incitement to commit riot or acts of violence or hate crimes is also a criminal act, and when the threat involved a goverment official, you're damned right their going to take it seriously.

these right-wing wacko's are losing it on every front, not surprising the DOJ report warned about extremists in the right-wing domestic terrorist fronts seizing the opportunity.

take down these threats to society, and do it NOW!

  35. evil is evil

Ignorance is correctable, dumb goes clear to the bone and is not correctable. Fool is genetic and is not correctable, as in the village idiot.

When is someone going to label these people as "fools?"

  36. honchocho

Exactly Hoffman. Isn't it interesting the founders wanted the citizens to have arms to oust tyrannical governments, but today we cannot even talk about using violence against what some view as oppressors and tyrants. Kind of sounds like the 1st amendment has been thrown out and the 2nd amendment castrated.

  37. ItIsMe

Freedom of speech means being able to say what you want, PERIOD. No fine print.

Whew, your stupidity knows no bounds. There IS fine print, you moron. But keep thinking there isn't. Got to your local movie theater and yell "FIRE!!!!" And then come back and tell us how the police have infringes upon your rights.

I know quite a few conservatives. Most of whom are pretty intelligent. So I can't just assume that because you're such a dumbass, that all of them are. Though I'm not in favor of the concept, clearly you should have been aborted...

  38. ItIsMe

bayside1022, you make a very fair point. Unlike that idiot Commentor, who wouldn't know his elbow from...

  39. philbrittain

    Commentor,

Freedom of speech is not threatening or inciting violence against elected officials. Did you skip the Civics Class when they covered that?

  40. Commentor doesn't understand what TRUE freedom of expression is, it's anarchy which he wouldn't like one damn bit. As I stated in my previous comment commentor, through examples why freedom of speech is sometimes controlled, you don't get it. What you said or trying to say is that Freedom is freedom no matter what and any legislation of it is wrong. But freedom has to be legislated because if YOU or me can't be counted on to temper our free speech to not incite a riot or death of a person or anything, then the govt. comes in to do it. Because as I said before we have alot of mentally and emotionally disturbed people in this country, and giving them the idea to kill or maim or hurt somebody makes you just as responsible. How do you think that Hitler and the other despots across the globe and through history was able to come to power and do what they did, it was through communication. He used his speeches and hate filled tirades to encourage the jealous, the downtroden, the rascists etc., in his country to do what he wanted. Yea, he had free speech too Commentor look where it took the world and Germany.

Also spot on Phillip, spot on. It is about race in the end. The fear that many whites have had is that there would be a takeover of the US by black and hispanics and people of color. That is what they are saying and crying about at these meetings, they feel that our privilege and stacked deck that we had over the rest for generations in this country is coming to an end and that we will be in the same pool as the rest of the people in the US. You see people have always said that well slavery was over and why couldn't the blacks have fixed there problems. It's because the whole thing was rigged for people who where white and got increasingly difficult the more darker you where. So your a freed slave but you can't get a job because they won't hire you, and you have to be careful because there are roving gangs out to lynch you and the sheriff was more likely to lynch you than help you etc. etc.. Then you get to the early 1900's, you can't get a loan because they out and out won't lend to black people. Seperate but inequal is enforced you still can't get a job to support your family, you can't even be considered equal to your "white" counterpart.

For generations we have been a racists and intolerant society and we play today like we are over it but where not. For generations we have thought that everything will play to our tune, not anymore. We may have to accept that things will play to someone elses tune and that frightens us (whites) to the core. Also as you said, they know that people of color have been abused for generations, and they fear that it will be done to them. Here's a movie that you should see that was a sleeper hit everywhere else but in the US, it's called White Man's Burden with John Travolta and Harry Belefonte. After seeing the first 15 minutes you will know why it didn't take off big in the US.

  41. nonny

this is the part of the country where i got a bottle thrown at me on I-75 out a pick-up truck's window -- why?? the only thing i can think of is whe they slowed down maybe to read my bumper stickers -- i had Obama '08 and One God, One World

but who knows. there are parts of florida that don't like liberal views??

  42. Mark

Bob's Hootenany Hotwire. Talk about out of touch. What a laugh.
Whats the average age of his listening audience? 85?
And #28: You heard statements such as 'shooting Bush in the face' and 'raping his daughters' on the public airwaves? On the radio you heard that? Why didn't you report it to the FBI and the FCC?

  43. r

The GOP base is armed and dangerous. Republicans lost big and don't like it.
Two categories of republicans: the rich and the ignorant.

  44. judy

These broadcasters who work their listeners up into fearful states, advising arms, insinuating that violence is ok--insighting, lying, lying and treating the POTUS as if he were less than...have gone beyond what is free-speech. They are threatening the stability of the country. They are threatening our President--directly or veiled--in any case, they encourage those who hate on the basis of party, race, or both. A line has been crossed in the media. The Secret Service should follow up on all these big talkers who use their "free speech" to foster violence and hate directed at our President.

  45. Bopper

ALL I CAN SAY, UNFORTUNATELY IS, TYPICAL REPUBLICAN.
I voted republican when they had a theme other than to be
against everything and support themselves no matter how wrong,
I can't think of any circumstances where I would vote for one now..

  46. Nat

Freedom of speech has limits. Oliver Wendell Holmes argued in 1919 his famous statement about yelling fire in a crowded theater. As stated in Wikipedia "this abridgment of free speech was permissible because it presented a "clear and present danger" Even though it was held in a case Schenck v. United States which had not much to do with the instant issue, I think it can be said that speech inciting the hurting, maiming or killing of the president is dangerous speech and that if God forbid a quartillion times, it ever occured that person could be considered complicit in that attempt.

Be careful you right wing extremist idiotic jerks freedom of speech I love i.e. criticism of particular POLICIES but when it extends to the incitement of violence and assisination this patriotic American draws the line. Be careful what you say and do not ask for whom the bell tolls the bell may toll for you as well.

  47. The exact Supreme Court precedent, in Oliver Wendell Holmes's majority opinion, goes as follows:

The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man in falsely shouting fire in a theatre and causing a panic. [...] The question in every case is whether the words used are used in such circumstances and are of such a nature as to create a clear and present danger that they will bring about the substantive evils that Congress has a right to prevent. (wish I could indent this.)

    Note the "falsely."

And now note the loud lies about "death panels," "government bureaucracies between you and you doctor," and the purported long waits for elective procedures in places with single-payor compared to the existing US "greatest healthcare system in the world."

Commenter: You seem enamored with the word "fuck." Do you shout "fuck" a lot when you're spending time with your grandmother? Just to assert your freedom of speech?

  48. ToastUP

"They consistently are being allowed to incite violence, promote racist views and fear mongering in their daily broadcasts. I feel that the Secret Service you pay a special visit to Rupert Murdoch and shut down News Corp. all together."

Welcome to the first amendment, dummy.

Not only can other citizens not be compelled to worship your false messiah, free speech is still in effect.

Does Haa's statement form a credible threat? Of course not.

"I'm headed to Brooksville tomrrie with my Obama sticker on my van"

Yeah, that should about do it. Make sure you scrape off you "Dissent is Patriotic" bumper sticker first though. That's passe now, apparently.

  49. kathy

No, you can't say this kind of thing on the air or make it public, because it is against the law to plot to assassinate a president. Maybe he knows he isn't serious when he says it, but Obama gets a lot of serious death threats, and you can be damned sure that Bush would investigate anyone who said they were planning on shooting him, and he would have been right to. It is against the law. It's NOT a matter of free speech to talk about ASSASSINATING THE PRESIDENT!!! You can say you hate his guts all you want, but you can't say that. They have to take it seriously.

  50. Buck J.: Racist for generations? More like centuries, at least. Probably millennia. Certainly sexist for millennia (almost from the get-go, really).
We're all - each one of us - stuck with the blighting cultural momentum of racism and sexism. When we can recognize that within ourselves, maybe we can confront it - within ourselves.
Otherwise - Just shut up and deal. Please don't hurt anyone.

  51. Bopper -
Thanks for staying alert and watching what's in front of your face.
    Smart person.
    Really.

  52. woodgas

Aren't these freaks great representatives of the ProLife movement? They cause terror. If I were Nancy Pelosi or her family I would right now feel terrorized by Glenn Beck. The fact that these wackos paint a Hitler mustache on a picture of the President, especially with that recent movie with Tom Cruise about the attempted assassination of Hitler, terrorizes me. Even if George Bush were assassinated when he was Prez it would have been horrible, marshall Law could come from such a situation. These people don't believe in voting yet they claim to believe in democracy. And there are all these slimy copycats of Rush. Absolutely no creativity, just blind talking points about how anyone who doesn't agree with Rush is an evil Lib. Of course the worse part is that these talk shows breed Mark David Chapmans

    http://downwithtyranny.blogspot.com/2009/08/why-boycott-glenn-becks-advertisers.html

  53. Yessir

This is not about freedom of speech.

"The mission of the United States Secret Service is to safeguard the nation's financial infrastructure and payment systems to preserve the integrity of the economy, and to protect national leaders, visiting heads of state and government, designated sites and National Special Security Events."

If they learn of a threat to the president of the US, they have a duty to evaluate it and investigate it if they deem necessary. Perhaps they asked him whether he had spoken to the man before or could otherwise aid in identifying him. I am sure he assisted them the best he could...and then put on his cracker pundit hat and got him his 15 minutes of fame. Best thing that ever happened to him.

  54. Lefty247

What we need are even MORE radio & tv channels for the GOPER NUTJOBS...get'em all out there for normal people to hear and see better.
They've proven to be the kiss of death for the dead/dying Goper party... NOW we just gotta bury their stinkin' corpses once and for all.

  55. "Hell, I was only jokin'!"

    Haa Haa Haa.

Fucking redneck. God, I almost wish we'd lost the Civil War so we wouldn't have to deal with inbred gargoyles like him.

  56. Bob

I'm pretty sure the radio station violated the FCC rules for public airways usage by not recording the show. I worked at a radio station and it was recorded 24/7 and the tapes had to be stored for a period of months in case of complaints. This DJ is the epitome of stupid jerks on radio, like Hannity and Beck.

  57. Bob

You must record the outgoing signal. These guys at this Right-Wing loony station must have hid the tapes. That is a violation of FCC rules. Put 'em in the slammer.

  58. ER

IMO, their vitriol isn't based in racism. It's because Obama is a Democrat, plain and simple. Obama's race is a huge bonus for them to have more material to work with preying on the fringes' fears, but it's not the root of it. Does anyone truly believe that if McCain were black AND had won that they would be spewing the same types of hatefilled racist themes? They would be pointing fingers at any liberal with a criticism and conveniently calling them racist...just like they cried howls of sexism against Palin.

There's no doubt that what they're doing IS trying to incite violence. But again, it's because he's a Democrat. It's the Cons who run around shrieking about 2nd amendment gun rights, so there's valid reasons for assassination concerns for both the POTUS and liberals in general.

  59. Maggie

Yes...it is indeed America and you can pretty much say what you want. But you also must take responsibility for your words and accept the repercussions.

  60. Nat

Yes, Tostup I see what you mean. I too am an ARDENT free speech advocate but I fear for our president and us. He because of his unique status is to some a horrendously hateful excuse to do the unthinkable. Anything happening to him as when O'Reilly and so many others on the right called for Tiller's head and got it. I am sure waxed jubilant. My gargantuan fear is that those who tout morality but have little or NONE when it comes to some others will do something so dastardly as to defy credulity. I think Mr. Haa collectively with other talk show right wing fantatics such as Limbaugh, Beck, Savage and many others coupled with politicians who through no work of their own like Palin have catapulted onto the public stage and incited riotous conditions no matter how much she is bafooned by most. It is a minority for sure but it is a vocal, mean, cruel minority as typical of the right wing. I think in those instances while free speech MUST be protected, they also SHOULD be indicted as accomplices if anything god forbid a trillion times were to happen.

It would for me be something that could do me in as I for one being a bit older could not take such a thing. I LOVE our president and I love our nation who elected him. I thought the day after I had died and gone to heaven. I worry, however, EVERY day about his safety. I am not a praying person BUT I make an exception and do so for him to stay safe and get his agenda which would help us all in place. In six months, although I am critical of him at times, he really has done more to help and to protect us than Bush who ruined our nation in eight years did.

Obama's philosophy works IF people would give it and him a chance. He is a calming force except for his race. That incites the worst of this culture with its primordial roots and can end up creating a very real clear and present danger.

  61. Darin Legore

*Didn't they all bitch and call us unpatriotic if we dared lift our heads and say a word for 8 years of war and incompetance against W? Didn't FAUXNEWS play patriotic music and doctored pictures of ant-war rallies day and night? Now mob rule is 'american', if you want open debate in a fact based reality world you are a socialist, and the 'sleep as to the slaughter'- listeners to the drug addict and falafel guy think they are hearing heavenly gospel words from these multi-million charismatic neoconfederates furious a black man won the elcetion from their fellow fact denier and quitter Sarah P.

  62. Bart Simpson is opening a new old new show "KWMD news".

  63. ckerst

The guy answered his own question, "why would I say something like that, it's stupid." When we start locking up some of these over the top idiots people will calm down.

  64. Thomas Brown

    Yo, Bob (comment 18):

I followed the Bush criminal cabal for 8 years. We said "impeach him." I NEVER heard or read anywhere anything like "I've read for years people saying 'shoot bush in the face' or 'rape his daughters.' EVER. Unless you cite a source, or a link, to those comments, I have to contend that you're just (as Bailin' Palin said) "making stuff up."

In the 8 years of the Bush Dark Ages, I don't recall a SINGLE incidence of left-wing violence. During the same period, there were 60 ACTUAL VIOLENT PLOTS by right-wing terrorists, fortunately stopped by law enforcement. Just recently, we have: a 400% increase in death threats to Obama vs. Bush. The right-wing swine who shot up the holocaust museum. The murder of a doctor operating entirely within the bounds of the law. The guy who shot 3 cops, believing they were sent by Obama's gun confiscation squad. The woman casing out a National Guard base with high-powered weapons, because she thought it was a FEMA concentration camp.

You see the pattern here, sparky? THE RIGHT WING IS FOMENTING VIOLENCE, and--- mark my words--- we WILL stop it.

  65. DownriverDem

When someone is killed and the repubs say their usual "I didn't do anything to promote this", will it shock anyone???????????

  66. Andy

"When someone is killed and the repubs say their usual 'I didn't do anything to promote this', will it shock anyone???????????"

Unless I'm mistaken, Bill O'Reilly, Bernard Goldberg, and Michael Savage never offered any sort of apology to the families of the victims of Jim David Adkisson. Hell, Adkisson even named Goldberg's book in his confession/suicide note.

  67. Arliss

"Freedom of speech means being able to say what you want, PERIOD. No fine print. I don't give a fuck what your or the establishment's excuses, reasons or justifications are."

No, you moron, it DOES NOT MEAN THAT!

There is No Right to say whatever you want on the publics airwaves!
The First Amendment ONLY protects you from the GOVERNMENT stopping your free speech!
That Freedom DOES NOT extend to PRIVATE Businesses!
ANY Private Business can suppress YOUR Free Speech whenever they want, and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it!

  68. Arliss

"When someone is killed and the repubs say their usual 'I didn't do anything to promote this', will it shock anyone???????????"

The law may not do anything to these people if Obama were assassinated but I can guarantee you that there will be million plus mobs out to lynch them!
They would have to leave the country just to remain safe.

  69. w.c.

no arrests, because the two parties are in on the total destruction of america together...the threats and arguments are just fodder for the sheep to make them think there are two different sides...

  70. dennycrane

News Flash: The judge says he can not be released on bail. I disagree--he should be placed out in the ocean on a sinking boat, and given a bucket to "bail" his ass back to shore. That shore belonging to cannibals that love "white" meat.

  71. Abes

Could some one tell me what "getting your wig tightened" means?

  72. Right on Thomas Brown! But you forgot to mention the psychotropic drugs like Paxil, etc. that big pharma have pushed onto the people via TV and Internet advertising. There's free speech in advertising (sort of) but those fucking drugs are dangerous and people die! So maybe a disclaimer is in order for the racist’s free speech radio show like, "Listening to this radio show may cause drowsiness, anger, and possibly violent acts" "Please consult you therapist before listening to this program." Ugh!

  73. wendell

It is amazing how the definition of "freedom" changes when democrats are in power.

  74. Satan

My my, a world of censors, cowards and petty childlike morons blathering about absolutely nothing. Save your ammunition for the administration and protest the war.

  75. texasaggie

I sincerely doubt that all the dorks whining about first amendment rights had too much to say when Bush's mouthpiece told people that they'd better watch what they say, or when the SS visited a high school junior and pulled her out of school for making an antiBush art project. But for some guy on radio to actually advocate "saving your bullets for the administration," then the bloodlappers come out of the sewers to defend his "first amendment rights."

  76. texasaggie

Would one of the whackjobs please explain to me why they feel that Barack Obama is a dictator, but had no problem with George "It's just a goddam piece of paper" Bush who usurped powers that were expressly allocated to the Congress and the courts, and also powers that were expressly forbidden to him (illegal surveillance, abrogation of habeas corpus, signing statements, posse comitatus...). And that doesn't even begin to address the unitary executive business.

Why do the GOOPers consider a person who had a woman arrested for carrying a placard at his campaign speech (while extolling the virtues of "free speech") to be a good democrat, but someone who has at least begun to rectify some of the mess that was left behind to be a dictator? Will one of them please explain the disconnect?

  77. Jason F

I've been in radio for over 20 years as a Producer and On Air talent, we ALWAYS record EVERY show for many reasons the primary being that we are required to by management for this very reason.
They have us record the show so if there's an FCC or listener complaint they can listen to the "objectionable" content if they feel it needs reviewing.
We also record the show because we may have a good interview we want to replay at another time or to get audio to refer back to at a later time.
We may also have a great caller or a caller so bad that it's too funny and we need to play the audio back for a laugh.
I also know NO host that doesn't want all his shows recorded for both a record of his career and if he or she ever needs to put together an audition tape down the road.
One last thing, most stations, even the smallest ones have a logger system where the stations audio gets recorded on to a hard drive with date and hour stamps on each file so we can go back and get audio if we need it like for an advertiser who wants to hear their commercial within a show or such so this whole argument about the show not being recorded is bull and they would really need to be a low rent operation to not record their live programs.

  78. texasaggie

bob (not Bob, obviously a different person) -

" I've read for years people saying "shoot bush in the face" "rape his daughters"
And worst nasty things, and you seem to forget these things quickly."

I've only seen this twice before and each time it was a reichwinger such as yourself making the same statement without anything to back it up. You guys seem to do a lot of projecting of your own thoughts onto others. Believe me, you guys are unique. No one else is like you or thinks like you or is in any meaningful way like you.

  79. yvonne

Arliss said, "The law may not do anything to these people if Obama were assassinated but I can guarantee you that there will be million plus mobs out to lynch them!
They would have to leave the country just to remain safe."

Actually, I don't think a large percentage of the rest of the world would be too happy with them either, so I doubt seriously they'd be safe anywhere. At this point in time, Obama not only has a majority approval rating in this country, he seems to be quite popular worldwide.

Idiot's like this supposed D.J., have no business being on the radio airwaves. When you are responsible for voicing any program over public airways, you have a responsibility to the people of this country. There are so many legal precedents that have been litigated over the years establishing these exact facts.

More importantly, the people of this country put up with 8 long years of Bush Administration illegalities, that only now, are we beginning to fully comprehend. The republican party has managed to destroy the last best hope of the common citizen in defense of their elitist corporate aggression, while bankrupting our economy.

As an American Citizen and secondly an African-American, I assure you that people in this country are so angry about the travesties of the last 8 years, that our retribution for any physical harm that may come to this president will be swift and thorough. I'm not threatening anyone in particular, but we are watching the actions of these supposed news and entertainment personalities with keen interest.

As a former military specialist, I applaud the Secret Service for taking these types of actions seriously. As an American, who is proud to have served his country, I take malicious threats against my President as direct affronts to my country. Our citizenry will not stand for any physical harm to our President.

Facist like this D.J. need to know, that the country would revert to a war like none other recorded in history. Facism is not the answer, a good alternative would be to observe how the country recovers when the people and their elected representative manages the nations interest and doesn't succumb to your corporate sponsors.

We know that Big Business owns many of our politicians, but I like what I'm seeing of our new President so far. He appears to be fair and pragmatic, understanding and thank God, knowledgable. We've got a lot of serious problems, that require an effective and sensible plan to repair our struggling country. A lot of peoples live depend on getting it right, and this Man seems not only to understand it, but is willing to put his life on the line, and do something about it. Whcih is more than I can say, for any facist D.J., only looking for his fifteen minutes of fame.

  81. Commentor #17, in the first place this is extremely mild compared to the censorship of the Bush terror regime years. And secondly you are totally wrong on the concept of freedom of expression. Your "idea" taken to it's logical conclussion means you beilieve rape and murder to be acceptable forms of protected expression. I do realize that is one of the far right ideals but is it really yours? If so consider moving to Somalia as they already have that form of government there and rest assured we will NEVER have it here!!!

  82. Strange

"In a June 2 posting on his Web site, called Turner Radio Network, (radio commentator Hal) Turner said 7th Circuit Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook and Judges Richard Posner and William Bauer "deserve to be killed" for their ruling in the handgun case that day. In a June 3 follow-up post, Turner provided the names, work addresses, phone numbers and photos of the judges." This is free speech, no need to investigate, right? How dare we harass these poor radio personalities with questions!

  83. blamethemedz

It's pinheads like this guy and Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, the turds at Fox & Friends and Over-her-head Palin who are destroying the Republican Party.

Plain folks are not attracted to insanity.

  84. seen2much

Once again the two headed giant of the left and right wings of our political "parties"(ought to be just party)attempt to bludgeon each other, and only Liberty gets beaten to a pulp by the seemingly wild flailing.. I say seemingly because this is looking FAR too organized and effective at destroying Freedom to just be the idiotic musings of only mere simpletons.

This whole event is a rotting red herring that doesn't pass the sniff test of anybody with decent critical thinking skills.

There are REAL problems barreling down on ALL OF US, yet we seem to be busy squabbling like kids at the kiddy table over who gets the hannah montana sippy cup.

There is a REAL and DANGEROUS conflict brewing, and it has little to do with which side of the party coin you are on.. REAL threats to EVERYBODY'S very Liberty are forming primordia in these events. People giving voice to violent discontent, goons dispatched to induce fear... I've seen this show before, and it NEVER goes well for those stuck on the stage. If you're in America, your butt is squarely on stage.

The "right" is correct to be angry, they see the coming encroachments of government control, though they are terribly confused with the direction they are taking much of that anger. The "left" is correct to be angry, because they see the betrayal of promises of change unfulfilled. BOTH of you are CORRECT to be mad, but BOTH of you have fallen for the misdirections that your oppressors have sent you on.

You guys are like two different raced inmates in a prison who have fallen for the systems games to set you onto each other, so the guards have nothing to worry about from you while you stab and slash each other. The people taking your Freedom is NOT your fellow inmates, it is those with the keys and control that imprison you, or are you too blind to see the game for what it is?

  85. AnaHadWolves

I'm a broadcaster in New York City. Ass-clowns like this small-market punk give all broadcasters a bad name. Putting it perspective, however, this butt-brain probably makes about 25k a year in market size 834. His grasp of the big picture certainly leaves something to be desired; I'm sure his tiny brain has been eroded by actually listening to the likes of hannity, et al, that ooze from the antenna of his miniscule ray-de-oh station down there in ReddAss, Florida.

Judging by the paunch on the guy and the fact that he chain-smokes, he doesn't look like the healthiest guy on the block. God needs to weed His garden. Stat.
