White House officials are "privately admitting concern" for President Barack Obama's safety as incidents of attempted or threatened violence against the president skyrocket in the midst of the country's heated health care debate.
That's the word from an ABC News report that says racist groups are thriving on the backlash in some corners of the United States to a black president who is working overtime to overhaul the country's social safety system.
"Experts say a sharp growth in so-called militia groups that helped spawn a wave of domestic terrorism in the 1990s—and are now using YouTube, rock music and the Internet to recruit members and spread hate and fear—shouldn't be ignored," the report says.
Brad Garrett, a former FBI agent who now consults for ABC News, told the network that the Secret Service "cannot afford to pass on anyone" because "they really do fear that something could happen to [Obama].
"It's certainly a scary time," he said.

Garrett said statements like one recently made by controversial radio host Rush Limbaugh comparing a logo for the White House plan to a Nazi symbol "legitimizes people who are on the edge to go do something or say something."
"And if you go and take a look at this, you will find that the Obama health care logo is damn close to a Nazi swastika logo," Limbaugh said.
Limbaugh's comments are part of a growing trend of influential figures stirring up hatred—or even implicitly pressing for violence—against the president.
A California city councilman is under pressure to resign after sending emails joking about assassinating the president. And yet another talk show host is under investigation after advising a caller not to waste ammunition on target practice, and "save it for the administration."

The Secret Service is investigating a Maryland man who held a sign reading "Death to Obama" and "Death to Michelle and her two stupid kids" outside a town hall meeting this week. And in New Hampshire, another man stood across the street from a Presidential town hall with his gun on full display.
Los Angeles police officers apprehended a man Thursday after a standoff with him inside a red Volkswagen Bug car in Westwood, CA—the latest disturbing case even though officials said the man had mental problems.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is reporting a dramatic rise in the number of hate groups across the US, while federal authorities are launching a "Lone Wolf Initiative" to track down individuals who may be looking to commit political violence.

Once upon a time there was a prosperous and moral nation. Their citizens were the envy of the world.

They stoked the flames of discontent at their humiliating fall from grace to whip a jingoistic populace into a frenzy of irrational support for policies that continued to undermine their own interests.
They invaded other nations that were no threat to them, under the guise of self-defense. They used torture designed to elicit false confessions to justify their illegal war. They ginned up stories of imaginary threats to national security, and used them to conduct surveillance on the citizenry. They leveraged the destruction of a prominent building as part of the rationale.
Their military leaders were infused with the arrogance that they were ordained by God. Some interpreted their mission to exterminate all the peoples of a certain religion, a sentiment shared by many of the people who were ignorant of cultures other than their own.
They pitted citizens against each other by spreading fear, uncertainty, and doubt. Those that sought diplomacy were labeled appeasers, those who disagreed, traitors. Violence and mob rule strong armed people into compliance. Bands of thugs shouted down political opponents, and used intimidation to overturn the will of the majority as expressed in elections.
People were shot in churches, police were killed based on rumors propagandized by the media, gay businesses and government buildings were bombed, and even physicians were assassinated.
Citizens of conscience saw the signs early enough to do something, but because it was politically incorrect to draw parallels with past atrocities, they chose to avert their eyes until the entire nation was gripped in fascist totalitarianism. Soon, it was too late.

The Israeli government has allegedly used its influence in American politics to strengthen the rumors about US President Barack Obama’s birthplace.
On Monday, well-known investigative journalist Wayne Madsen said Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s entrenched alliance with the America-Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), various neoconservative groups and fundamentalist Christian organizations had made it "very easy for him to bring this whole canard back" about allegations that Obama has been born in Kenya rather than the United States.
"And it looks like he has done that as a way to put political pressure and try to tip Obama off his high favorability ratings at the present time," he added.
The Constitution bars people born outside the US from running for president. Obama’s birthplace has been verified as Hawaii by the island state’s Health Department and the president has presented his birth certificate online.
The claimants to the contrary, called ’birthers’, are lead by California attorney Orly Taitz who has filed in the federal court Kenyan papers, which certify that Obama is Kenyan-born.
The Washington-based journalist said that "just after this fake birth certificate came out, she [Taitz] pops up in Tel Aviv two days later."
"She is originally from Moldova, very closely tied to Likud, Netanyahu and also Foreign Minister (Avigdor Lieberman) who is also a native of Moldova," he told Russia Today.
Asked about the Israeli motive for the move, the Washington-based journalist said "The Netanyahu government is very upset with Obama over the Obama administration’s insistence that there be a freeze on settlements including in East Jerusalem [al-Quds]. So that coupled with the reticence of the Obama administration to take any military action against Iran, which Netanyahu’s government favors, has brought this old story back to life."

He said that the govt. and the elite wants americans to be dumb they want you not to think, because if you ever did you would know how much you have been screwed over by them over the decades. That is why in this country you see people ridicule (especially if your black) smart people, or want religious view on science to be taken into account in schools etc. etc.. They want us dumbed down and ignorant because it's easy to control a person who doesn't have the sense to know what is truly right or wrong and/or can't figure out what is good for them. Just like these townhalls and these shouting matches, many of the people in there are individuals over 50 and almost all on medicare and medicaid. Surely they can figure out that those programs are the most socialists programs in the US including Social Security. And as Mark put it about that girl that stood up and tried to ask a question about how was she going to get insurance since she was to old to be on her parents and she was shouted down. She also made a point about that this healthcare reform would benefit the middleclass. One man got up and said that (she's taking 21 credit hours) she should get a full time job to pay for her health insurance etc. etc.. This man and others in this townhall was so ignorant it wasn't funny.
First of all lets say she does decide to do just that with her 21 credit hours (which I know this guy didn't go to college or failed out because he would know how difficult it would be), first she would have to find a place that is hiring 40 hours a week. Then if she got sick or major health problems she would have to find a full time job that had insurance and how many of those are still left. And on top of all that it's dependant on her being hired and I don't see the employment picture perking up with almost 10 percent nationally. This goes right to the point of ignorance and intolerance and greed. The old people and ignorant are totally against this because A.) a blackman is the president and it's what he wants, B.) a blackman is president and it may work and C.) a blackman is president and they think he's taking away what they have (which means in their speak he will make it fair for all). It goes to show how great it is to be ignorant and intolerant, because the right are using them as their "brown shirts" against change. Little do they know that the change that could come would benefit them if they could look past A, B and C.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 20-year-old Dyron L. Hart of Poplarville pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to making a threat in November 2008.
Hart admitted creating a name and using a white supremacists' photo to pose as a white man who planned to kill blacks because Barack Obama had been elected president.

I am not a republican, not democrat. I am an independent voter, I vote for the candidate that best represents my ideas. But I am a capitalist. I believe in the free market. I have a small business and I provide health card to all of my employees and they don't have to pay anything, I even pick up their co-pay and deductibles. Why would I or my employees want anything else. We provide a product that the economy wants and is willing to pay for therefore, I am able to employ the persons that are experts in our field and I treat them accordingly. What would they think of me and my company if I were to abandon one of their best benefits/compensations.
I believe that an actual "civil war" is ridiculous and should be avoided at all cost. That having been said, I believe that the people of the US begin to use the same tactics that worked in the 60's, that is peaceful civil disobedience. Common sense state that if we don't use something long enough, them we must not need it and are willing to get rid of it.
I am a Christian and with all of the baggage that my bring. Also I am strict constitutionalists. I believe that if it is not spelled out in the Constitution, then it should be up to the individual states to handle and that we should be adding trillions of dollars every year to violate the literal and spirit of the Constitution.
Also I should point out that I could not care less about the race of our president. I grew up in the rural area of North Louisiana and all of out neighbors were African-American, and I did not realize that there was any real difference until I went to High School and then to college. I still don't see race, I see people. As a matter of fact my daughter is married to a man who is half African-American and half Native-American. So I DARE anyone to call me a racist!
As far as religion, yes we are at war with a religion! Go to a beach and machine gun rounds fired at you head just because you want to get Americans and bring them home. Americans who were ILLEGALLY being detained. And the same government claims that they have a "fatwa" or religious declaration of war against the US. We may not be at war with them, but they are DAMN sure at war against us. Otherwise, I believe that we should be tolerant of all religious faiths until such time as they declare war against us.
Thomas Payne wrote a pamphlet called "Common Sense" and a contemporary writer and commentator called Glen Beck has written a complement to the original. I would recommend reading the book. It is cheap and easy to find. Glen is not as crazy as Hannity, Limbaugy and some of the other right wing host out there. Most of what he has to say makes sense and he continually stresses that any action that is taken should be non-violent.

What I would ask you is, are you not concerned with the exponential rise in health care costs you are absorbing year after year for you, your family, and your employees?

What to do about Healthcare, well that is a good question. Let's see, we have Medicare for the elderly, Medicaid for those below the poverty line, CHIP for children at or below the poverty line, Federal Health system for retired federal workers, CHAMPUS for dependents of military and retired military, VA for veterans, as well as private insurance for most of those who are working, also there are several faith based programs for those who can not afford any other insurance. Many states provide a "Charity System" for those who can not afford or for what ever reason can not qualify for private insurance - I know that Louisiana does. So what do we do, reduce the taxes so that more people can afford to give to charities that help provide health care, not increase my taxes and force me to use the Federal System. And before anyonee jumps on me, read HR3200 and you will see that it does. And as you read it you should find several other things hidden in the Bill that will scare the shit out of you.
I agree that one political or religious beliefs gives no one the right to kill another person or to threaten the life of any one or to carry a loaded weapon into a political gathering. That is wrong and should not be condoned by any one.
As for what is socialism? The post office is called for in the constitution as a matter of Ben Franklin was the first Post Master. Public highways are also covered in the constitution as part of the Department of Commerce. Now about FDR, while I agree he was one of the greatest president of all times, some of the things that he implement we socialist and actually unconstitutional, and Social Security is one of them. Now having said that, I think we need something like Social Security but that it should be handle by the individual states with fed oversight and that would still be within the limits of the 10th amendment. Compete or no compete with non-US companies is not covered in the constitution, however we fought a civil war about that issue and final result is that it is up the federal government to decide on a case by case basis. And yes the President is the Commander-in-Chief of the US Military as per the constitution and the last time I checked the US Military consisted of the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps and during time of declared war the Coast Guard.
Finally I would like address Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Riely and Beck. The first two are definitely right wing nuts, the other two at times take a more independent view, I have heard the criticize the right as well as the left. But all that aside you must understand that they are all entertainers. They employ satire as part of their schtick. No one should take any of these guys literal including Ann Coulter. But you should take what they say and compare it to what is going on in the world a see if any of it makes sense. Then it is up to you the listener/viewer to decided what they are going to do with the information. Personally, I watch or listen when I need a good laugh, but at the same time I read their books (as well as books of many of the liberal writers) and then I can make an informed decision.
