An online campaign against Fox News editorialist Glenn Beck is working.
Web site ColorofChange.org, reacting to a long line of racial comments about President Barack Obama, has managed thus far to knock loose from Beck's fold Lawyers.com, Procter & Gamble, Progressive, S.C. Johnson, GEICO, Men's Wearhouse and, just Wednesday morning, Sargento.
**UPDATE: On Thursday, ConAgra, Roche, Sanofi-Aventis and RadioShack all backed out of sponsoring Glenn Beck's programs, according to a media advisory.
"We applaud GEICO and all of the other companies who have stepped forward to pull their ads from Glenn Beck," said James Rucker, executive director of Color of Change, in a Tuesday media advisoryrelease. "Beck’s rhetoric is dangerous to the fabric of our democracy, and we are heartened that so many big companies feel the same way. We won’t stop here — we’re going to continue our fight to see that as many of Beck’s advertisers pull their support as possible."
And video clips like this may have something to do with it ...
Watchdog group Media Matters, which has emphatically joined in the crusade to knock Beck from cable television, notes that many of the advertisers who refused in 2006 to support progressive-tilted Air America radio are still backing Beck.
According to the group, those companies are: General Electric, Farmers Insurance, Office Depot, Nestlé (Gerber), Red Lobster, State Farm, Travelocity, the U.S. Postal Service, Walmart and Wyeth.
Media Matters includes ">a long list of controversial, provocative (some would say shocking) segments on Beck's television program that, for the sake of brevity, is excerpted below:
Beck talks about "put[ting] poison" in Speaker Pelosi's wine. On his Fox News show, Beck gave a glass of wine to a person wearing a Pelosi mask, encouraged her to drink it, and then said: "By the way, I put poison in your -- no, I -- I look forward to all the policy discussions that we're supposed to have." [Glenn Beck, 8/6/09]
Beck: Obama is a "racist" and "has a deep-seated hatred for white people, or the white culture." Beck said: "This president, I think, has exposed himself as a guy -- over and over and over again -- who has a deep-seated hatred for white people, or the white culture -- I don't know what it is. But you can't sit in a pew with Jeremiah Wright for 20 years and not hear some of that stuff and not have it wash over." He later added, "I'm not saying that he doesn't like white people. I'm saying he has a problem. He has a -- this guy is, I believe, a racist. Look at the way -- look at the things he has been surrounded by." [Fox News' Fox & Friends, 7/28/09]
Beck: "Everything that is getting pushed through Congress, including this health care bill" is "driven by President Obama's thinking on ... reparations" and his desire to "settle old racial scores." According to Beck, "Everything that is getting pushed through Congress, including this health care bill, are transforming America. And they are all driven by President Obama's thinking on one idea: reparations." Beck later added that Obama's "goal is creating a new America, a new model, a model that will settle old racial scores through new social justice." [Glenn Beck, 7/23/09]
ColorofChange.org has created a simple form for media activists: just enter your name and off an objection goes, directly to Beck's remaining advertisers.
Whether the campaign will be successful remains to be seen. And while the conservative Fox News channel still appears resolute in keeping Beck, at this point there's bound to be some discussion of how to stem the tide of advertisers pulling their support.

Roger Ailes and his FoxNews channel have done more harm to this country that Osama Bin Laden. He helped Bush lie us into the Iraq war which has killed more Americans than 9/11 and has cost $2Trillion. He encourages people to think with their testicles, be willfully ignorant, hateful and racist. All under the protection of "Freedom of the Press".
If anything happens to the President, Roger Ailes, Rupert Murdock and FoxNews in general should be held responsible.

Oh come on, Beck makes all the other extremist pro-war MSNBC and CNN types look so sane and rational.
Ha ha ha ha ha
Don't you love it when capitalism works the way it was intended?
E E Keller: "I'm about to leave State Farm after more than 25 years."
Yeah, I know.
I'm sitting here saying, y'know, I've had State Farm since I had a learner's permit. That's 37 years.
Thirty seven years.
I currently have auto, camper, and homeowner insurance through them.
I'm calling them up to see how badly they'd like me to remain a customer.
WHY THE HELL IS THE POST OFFICE SPONSORING GLEN BECK?!?!?!?!?!?!?
WE HAVE A RIGHT TO PROTEST ANY PUBLIC ENTITY!!!!!!!!!!!
TIME TO HAVE PROTESTS AGAINST THE POST OFFICE!!!!!!!!
THEY CLAIM THEY ARE GOING BROKE, THEY HAVE THEIR SHILLS CRYING ON NPR (TODAY) TO PRIVATIZE THE POST OFFICE, BUT THEY HAVE THE MONEY TO ADVERTISE TO THE VERY PEOPLE DESCRIBED IN THE MOVIE "THE POSTMAN" ("GEN. BETHLEHEM")
BOYCOTT THE POST OFFICE UNTIL THEY STOP ADVERTISING ON GLEN BECK!
WASTE THE GAS AND PAY YOUR BILLS IN PERSON WHEREVER YOU CAN!
I cannot say I am going to stop watching cluster FOX news because of glen quarter wit beck, because I don't watch cluster FOX news. I am, however, close to blocking the FOX network, If it wasn't for the sports they would be gone.
I need a new suit but I sure as hell wasn't going to buy it from a company that supports Fux Noise. Is Mens Warehouse still having that 2 for 1 sale? I've never tried them but maybe it is time unless all their suits are Chinese Crap.
Douche bag touche'.
ZaZen: Why should we be respectful to Wal Mart? After all the shit they have done over the years against anyone that isn't a right winger?
Screw you! Respect should only be given when it's deserved. Wal-Mart has YEARS AND YEARS of shit to make up for to even be considered for respect by anyone that isn't a Republican.
I don't buy all of this crap about "Just ignore what the right has done to anyone that isn't one of them for their entire lives, pretend that it never happened, and try to look ahead" shit.
Payback should be a MoFo, and the radical righties like them have it seriously coming. IMHO, they should be boycotted out of existence, and if they are the only game in town because the people let them in to drive out other businesses, then the locals need to take that out on the local Republicans that let them in.
T/he beauty of capitalist democracy is that we can just say no to spending our money at businesses that work against our interests.
One can argue (The commies sure did, and they predicted the status quo leading to total downfall of capitalism) that if a capitalist democracy doesn't exercise it's right to refuse to spend money at businesses that work against their interests, then that society is doomed to fail, along with it's economy. Communist doctrine, indeed, DEPENDS on the fact that most people would rather get assfucked by corporate America! Don't believe me? Read the originals! Marx! Lenin! Trotsky! COMINT! They all agreed! The failure of capitalist democracy is solely dependant on the people LETTING corporations and wealthy people get away with it!
THE PRINCIPLE THAT WE SHOULD SHOW RESPECT TO CORPORATIONS WITH A LONG AND ILLUSTRIOUS HISTORY OF DISRESPECTING US OR OUR CAUSES IS PURELY LUDICROUS!
RESPECT IS EARNED! MAKE SURE WAL-MART UNDERSTANDS THAT! YOU DON'T HAVE TO SHOW RESPECT TO WAL-MART!
PLEASE...
Get the phone numbers of their neighbors, country clubs, physicians, Fox Employees.....EVRYBODY BECK EVEN KNOWS.
I am ready to make the calls.
Glad GEICO is my auto insurer. I'll be forwarding this list of shame to everyone I know, meanwhile keep up the boycott and the complaints.
According to the group, those companies are: General Electric, Farmers Insurance, Office Depot, Nestlé (Gerber), Red Lobster, State Farm, Travelocity, the U.S. Postal Service, Walmart and Wyeth.
Direct nonviolent action works. It works really well.
PAY ATTENTION! The left should be using this as a tactic a lot more often. The far right doesn't care about protests, petitions, etc. The far right responds immediately if you threaten their MONEY, though.
I just called State Farm regarding this issue and they informed me that they are pulling their advertising off Beck show. The said that State Farm has a policy NOT to advertise on political shows. I am a policy holder and they seem to be taking the concerns very seriously. She told me that she has had A LOT of calls regarding this issue.
Red Lobster is one of my favorite restaurants... I've been eating there for the past 15 years about once a week with my family, but that is the last time I will EVER eat there. This sponsoring of hatred and intolerance is unacceptable, and I will NOT knowingly fund a company that does so.
I'm with E E Keller, I've been with Farmers for over 25 years. Just called my rep and the corporate office. I'm calling Geico to begin the process of switching companies. Vote with your pocket book, it is our best weapon.
This is the video of Glenn Beck's show from last night (8-11-09) condensed into 10 minutes.
I have never seen so many health care scare tactics and talk about eugenics in such a short period of time.
You have to watch.

Some years ago I attended a dinner meeting in NY where this guy, Roger Ailes, was talking to us - we were part of a group of corporate advertisers - about this new 'all-news' cable concept that Fox was going to launch to compete with CNN. It all seemed innocuous enough...little did I know that if I had sacrificed myself at the time and throttled the fat SOB, I'da done the country a great service...then again since we don't enjoy the benefit of that kind of foresight the rest is history.
By the way, the man - at that time - had a really hot wife. Surely she's no longer with him, then again I wondered at the time what she was doing with him in the first place.

Beck, (Lumbaugh's mini-me) is a wanna-be.
Ha!
Now take that you fat pink faced right wing pig.
I knew I loved Geico!! The gecko knows!
It's very interesting that even the young people on "Big Brother" express support of Obama. Maybe Beck should go on "Big Brother". He won't have a "wakeup call" (that's probably impossible now), but he just might implode when he discovers that America not only doesn't believe him, it doesn't even believe he exists.
Can Rush Limbaugh be next on ColorofChange.org's list?
It's interesting that even the young people on "Big Brother" express support for Obama. If Glen Beck were to watch "Big Brother", he might find out that not only does America believe him, they don't even believe he exists.
Will the Mormons stick up for one of their own advocating violence ?The more this used up, washed up former CNN retard excretes his venom ,the more the left and center need not worry. The implosion is coming and Rupert will give him the boot in a "New York Minute". Mental midgets are nothing new only this time they have mass media outlets, But the bottom line is profit and advertising dollars
State Farm has pull it's advertisements from Glenn Beck
So much for free speech, eh?
Oh, it is free as long as you

My 21st century insurance was bought by AIG a couple of years ago, now it just got bought by Farmers parent. Looks like I'm shopping for car insurance next month.
Beck is truly a pitiful excuse for a human.
His rantings last evening (Tue) about Germany and eugenics and his new connections "tree" were atop the recent list of 'world's dumbest stunts pulled by cluster-fox employees"....he has truly drifted off into another instantiation of his own life and existence that engulfs his time on the cluster-fox set and most probably his whole world.
It is time to sit him gently in a corner and let him dribble-cup himself to sleep.
This site pumps out more fluff, more pulp and more fake news with each passing day.
Too bad, it used to be a pretty good news site.
I just confirmed that State Farm pulled out. Keep it up
I just called State Farm and they say that they pulled out of Glen Beck's show this morning. The woman assured me that advertising on his show was a mistake and they will ensure it doesn't happen again.
I love it - a Black supremacist organization complaining about Beck daring to mention the obvious fact about Obama's views on race.
Hi - I would look into GEICO before buying its insurance. I believe this company contributes to Republican coffers. I recall seeing something about its contributions during the Bush years. Thus, it may have done the right thing here, but do you want to support a company whose profits will help elect more of the same?
If Obama gets shot or killed, I'll PERSONALLY put up a CONSTITUTIONALLY ACOTUS PROTECTED internet hit list, with Glen Beck's soon-to-be-Xed-out-face right at the top.
If the anti-choice TERRORISTS can put up the Nuremberg Files site, then we ALL can! The SCOTUS said they could!
LOLOLOL.. The President, The Speaker and the rest of the Dems call anyone not them, every name in the book.. and then they get their panties in a bunch, because someone dare called them on their actions.. This is way too rich.. I should be paying for this.. Damn, there's needs to be a sitcom on this.. oh my.. I'm going to fall off my office chair, laughing so hard at you guys..
btw.. I am NOT a member of the GOP..
I thought I read another article the other day (I believe here on Raw Story) that Walmart had pulled their ads on Fox News period. The way advertising works is the that time is often sold in packages and sometimes unless a company is playing close attention know what stations and channels they are playing. For instance Thom Hartmann always says support our sponsors and I've even heard him bash Walmart and the next commercial break.... you guessed it a Walmart spot.
"It's interesting that even the young people on "Big Brother" express support for Obama. If Glen Beck were to watch "Big Brother", he might find out that not only does America believe him, they don't even believe he exists."
Oh, so we're to take the views of some ppl in a TV show, as all important?? Gezzz.. can you guys be more out of it?? How about the Rule of Law? The Constitution? 'Hence that general is skillful in attack whose opponent does not know what to defend; and he is skillful in defense whose opponent does not know what to attack.'
General Electric - the parent company of MSNBC - advertises on Glen Beck?!? They actually give money to their direct competition!?! Sheesh. Do they also advertise on O'Reilly and Hannity? I bet Olbermann and Maddow won't EVER bring that up. This certainly adds another dimension to the Fox / MSNBC "truce" scenario we heard about last week, and points out once again what a cynical good cop / bad cop reality we all face under the present corporate hegemony.
Whoa, wait a minute. The US Postal Service is sponsoring Beck's show with our tax dollars??? They are closing post offices around the country and raising our costs to mail yet they have the money to pay for hate programing on FOX TV??? Does RS have a link to that because if true that's a BIG NO NO.
I guess the idea of giving the lunatics a mainstream voice is a little too scary for big business after all.
I'm off to Red Lobster and then I am going to shop at Wal-Mart.
I've had it with fox news ripping down our country, I'm tired of the anti-American values that they present and that they don't like our elected President Obama. Fox News doesn't deserve the support or respect of responsible American business.
Could any one of you ignoramuses please define the term -"hate programming" It sounds like a term out of Orwell's 1984. If you don't like what you see or hear why don't you shut off the TV or change the station? Or is any form of dissent too much for you modern day Bolsheviks to handle? It never ceases to amaze how often people end up turning into exactly what they loath. Now that his hOliness has entered the White House you schmucks drop all pretenses about love for freedom of speech and civil liberties and become exactly like the neocon brownshirts that you were bashing a scant eight months ago. Oh and I know there will be some who read this and the knee jerk reaction will be to engage in some form of an ad homineum response. To those of this ilk I say this: Any fool who puts his faith in a person or party is destined for slavery.
is anyone else worried at the thought of raw story commenter wingnuts calling up corporate headquarters and screming '9/11 was an inside job'?
as for all the right wing nutcracks (did u take a wrong turn at freerepublic?) ... where were you all the years your corporate masters were shipping factories to china? isnt china what you like, 'free enterprise', no labor unions, no environmental laws, and liberals put in work camps?
Procter & Gamble pulled its support. Glenn Beck maybe on the right side after all. I always thought he was talking about the right things but was going in the wrong direction when it comes to solutions.
We must silence anyone who speaks out against obama.
Even if all the sponsors pull out Glenn will still be on. With the viewers he gets they will just run fox adds on the show. Or small firms. Fox will lose no money from this. This will blow over they will come back to Glenn. Fox will just run the ads on other programs.
It's silly
ColorOfChange.org exists to strengthen Black America's political voice. Our goal is to empower our members—Black Americans and our allies—to make government more responsive to the concerns of Black Americans
That is not racist at all we should not judge anyone by the color of their skin. Racism goes both ways.
I'd say the majority of you people leaving comments here complaining and whining about Beck or Limbaugh have pretty much swallowed the bait, hook line and sinker. Progressives or what we used to call the liberal socialists have insidiously found their way into the media, the government power positions, the banking committees, and control...yes control the vast majority of what you do in this country anymore. Don't tell me you still think you are free to do as you please. Free country? HAH! The government handouts and wasteful printing of funny money to cover giveaway programs have let the government scoundrels into the corporate management business and running of the companies. The majority of these government "managers" cant even balance their own bank register in congress let alone make sure YOU are doing what you are supposed to be doing in your job.
Democrat or Republican...its only a sideshow to the big show. The loss of freedom in this country is astounding and the majority of you commentors have no clue. Bash the independant thinkers for they dont support the PROGRESSIVES in office, and for good reason. The war isnt in IRAQ or AFGHANISTAN...ITS HERE AND ITS REAL AND WE'RE LOSING TO THE GOVERNMENT. ITS BY THE PEOPLE...FOR THE PEOPLE...NOT FOR THE GOVERNMENT. GET IT RIGHT OR GET OUT.

Good think there are sane people like Keith Olbermann to keep you lefties happy. When you realize that regardless of political affiliation, race, creed, nationality or religion this 'president' is driving this country closer and closer to nationalized socialism (I can't think of the German word for that...can you help me out?) you might understand. "I guess the idea of giving the lunatics a mainstream voice is a little too scary for big business after all."
We are talking about Fox News here, not MSNBC.. Please keep on topic.. Thanks
who'd have ever thought that, in america, we would emphatically and enthusiastically curtail our OWN freedom of speech.
oh, probably f.a. hayeck.
"I've had it with fox news ripping down our country, I'm tired of the anti-American values that they present and that they don't like our elected President Obama. Fox News doesn't deserve the support or respect of responsible American business."
Compared to say who, MSNBC? Come on.. MSNBC and their programs use far more impolite words and terms, then Fox.. let's compare apples to apples.. Thanks.. And as for liking someone.. Guess what, our Founding Fathers were VERY clear on what we the Nation and the Media's jobs were.. to keep a keen eye on those in Power.. for Power begets Power..
Read Federalist #45 & #51, also read Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, which lists the powers of the Federal Government. Anything not on the list belongs to States. Can you say in an honest tone and meaning, that either Party, no matter who is President, has been Lawful in this matter?
I personally don't think that anything the man has said is all that shocking.... Oh, wait.... what's that, in America, we have the right to free speech??? Yeah, that's what I thought. You don't have to listen to it... When we try to start shutting people up for speaking what they believe... (Yeah, we don't do that to liberal protesters... b/c that would be WRONG and depriving them of their RIGHTS) But, b/c we don't believe what Glen Beck is saying then we should try to shut HIM up? There is 50% of crap out there in the world that I don't believe in, yet, I'm not trying to silence them. Hitler silenced all of his opposition and depriving people of the chance to decide for themselves on anything is WRONG. People who preached against Hitler I'm sure were referred to as "haters" and then put to death b/c their opinion differed from that of the totalitarian regime. Personally, I don't think anyone should be silenced for giving their opinion. Its actually nice for a change that one media station is giving a right wing perspective out there, where as the rest of AMERICA thinks that Obama is GOD and can do no wrong. I personally think he's probably a good guy... YET, I do have reason to believe that a small portion of what Glen Beck is trying to communicate MIGHT be true... If everyone read things (like book on Obama that he supported and what he has to say in them) they might find out that everyone isn't perfect ... Why is it that everyone has to believe that he is either an angel or a devil. Find out for YOURSELVES if what you hear is true before you FREAK out for people speaking their mind and giving their opinion if you don't automatically believe it.
"Any fool who puts his faith in a person or party is destined for slavery."

I mean, why not? Gives that certain "power to the people" feel.
Most likely, Glenn Beck and many of his colleagues at Fox News ("The only fair and balanced news network" -- right....) don't even realize how bigoted and racist they really are. They really do feel what they say. That's scary and sad.

Political hacks CNN, MSNBC, FOX - all paid (sponsored) bullshit entertainment.
This country went flush - down the drain quite awhile ago.
Obama is as bad as Cheney & Bush - with an arrogant posture, grin included, teleprompter with vetted children 'n all. Good luck to Cheney's 9th Cousin - which makes him a 'de-facto' blood member of the ruling class. They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Perhaps we'll bring something resembling America back with real LAW abiding officers/representatives of the legislative, judicial & executive branches - if only the brainwashing could wear off... and the elites shipped back to, perhaps, GITMO.

I will boycott as many of these companies as I can, but unfortunately GE owns about half this country. I guess I can't watch NBC or 30 Rock...crap!
AlthoughIn these hard times, i've had to resort to Walmart(as much as it pains me), and the USPS is the cheapest way to ship something. ARGH!!
Why is a gov. owned entity using money to sponsor his show anyways? Pretty ridiculous and shows why they're constantly losing money(their leadership is obviously all Bush supporters).
@Alex (#41) - You call them "black supremecist", and their pledge:
"we will do all we can to make sure ALL Americans are represented, served and protected - REGARDLESS OF RACE OR CLASS."
Does this demonstrate you're ignorant or just plain stupid? Probably both.
---
@RefinersFire (#44 & #46) - Name calling? Now that's projectionism at it's finest. We're simply calling out Beck's misrepresentation of the Obama administrations intentions. To call it reparations only serves to incite racism, especially when there is ZERO evidence to support such a ludicrous statement. Calling Beck out on it and putting pressure on advertisers isn't quite the same as calling anyone against a war-based-on-lies an "American Hater" and "unpatriotic".
One thing I will agree on though is that views of Big Brother contestants are irrelevant... as their contestants are usually naive people, chosen because of their likelihood to react in a way that makes entertaining television (at least entertaining to the lowest common denominator) so screw their opinions, at least where they're not well supported with evidence.
But irrelevant of Big Brother, 76% of America is with the Dems on healthcare reform. And much of the remaining 24% is propped up through misinformation, through the intentional deception due to Faux News's brand of crazy (Beck, et al) and much of that is corporately funded by the insurance companies (astroturf instead of real grass roots).
It's sad that Faux News / the right-wing / etc base their views on phoney bullshit peddled primarily by the insurance companies.

@Tio (#35) - Misleading the vulnerable and inciting racism through alarmist, fictional statements is a form of free speech and should be protected, even if it takes the form of an asshole being deceptive and ugly. Beck can have his freedom of hate speech but if people object to it in large volumes and if the free market feels it's a risk to advertise around Beck because of his crazy ranting, so be it. Life goes on.
---
@Scott (#53) - I agree almost completely, the left/right paradigm is what keeps us locked in with a government run by the "better of two evils". Both of which have the same CFR shadow government pushing policy, so yes, we're all being taken for suckers in general. - But the issue of healthcare reform is so widely supported (despite the disprortionately vocal, astroturf-driven protestors that turn up to disrupt the town-hall meetings) that it makes for a lame "divide and conquer" strategy, if that was the purpose of healthcare reform, it'd be a flop because 76% of Americans support substantial reform and don't think the poor and vulnerable should be allowed to slip through the cracks any more.
lol, The Color0fchange, an extremist racial grievance group, isn't happy that Beck did several news packages on Van Jones, President Obama's controversial green jobs czar who describes himself as a communist. Jones is a founding board member of Color of Change, but Color of Change doesn't want you to know that. Maybe having an avowed America-hating radical on the group's board is bad public relations.
The group deleted references to Jones on its "about" page. That page used to say, "James Rucker and Van Jones came together in the wake of [Hurricane] Katrina to use the organizing power of the Internet to give Black Americans and our allies a renewed and strengthened political voice."
I looked at this out of curiosity, and am glad to see a rational respose. ie: mike
Red-State Lobster, heh-heh.
Oops, I just cut their clientele down to 28 percent...
Satan
Oh come on, Beck makes all the other extremist pro-war MSNBC and CNN types look so sane and rational.

All you "right wing" haters need to get some facts straight about your president and the things he has been doing to our country; the only damn :change: I have seen thus far is an economy in a downward spiral and a job market that is crushing the middle class, and NObama wants to take more of your money that you (hopefully) worked for to spend in a manner he sees fit. While this may seem ok to some imagine this scenario: In a classroom a teacher approaches all the students who have been very successful in the class and tells them that they will have to give up the points they earned and worked hard for to help the students who didn't do as well, whether it was because they were unprepared or unable to achieve a pasing grade they were now given points to improve their scores. Those who did not work hard were rewarded while those who excelled were pushed aside. This example is the EXACT same situation the American public is in now and if something isn't done VERY soon you won't have the ability to boycott these companies because you will have no money so everyone get a friggin clue stop hating on someone that realizes there is a problem but doesn't know how to address it, and start getting educated.
Wow. Just wow. I haven't been the biggest fan of Beck since he proposed using the military to round up Ron Paul supporters and claimed that those who question the official conspiracy theory on Sept. 11 hated America, but you guys are simply nuts. What, pray tell, was "hateful" or "intolerant" about the comments listed above? You guys are pathetic, and as such, I will be boycotting YOUR advertisers. In the meantime, I'm off to Wal-Mart to buy some GE products to use in my car and home that will no longer be insured by State Farm because of their petty capitulation to you Obama worshiping fools. Get a grip and take a look at what is really going on: Obama works for the same master as G.W. Bush. They all want more of your money while leaving you with less and less freedom.
God Bless.
I guess the idea of giving the lunatics a mainstream voice is a little too scary for big business after all...
Beck has OVER double the ratings of his competitors COMBINED. So Beck and FNC don't give a r@ts @ss about these advertisers... there's a line around the block to get on the hottest new cable show.
You people don't like him because he speaks the truth. Sorry if your cool-aid hasn't worn off, but Obama IS a racist. ONLY a racist would say "Without knowing the facts"..... "the police acted stupidly". He sat in the pew of the OBVIOUS racist Rev. Write FOR 20 YEARS!
I DARE anyone reading this to find ONE "racial" comment that Glenn Beck has made... I'm waiting....
Ya see, outlets like the Raw Story just MAKE STUFF UP. They just claim that Beck is a racist -- and they actually think that you're so stupid, you won't even look into it to see if it's true.
I love red lobster ,but I cant help buy think because they support beck and his hate that beck represents them..I cant support that..Makes me think they are just as racist as beck is..
mike: "It never ceases to amaze how often people end up turning into exactly what they loath." ???
Do Glenn Beck sympathizers really believe in promoting the murder of democratically elected people on National T.V.? Scary.
Too bad Fox News will just put the advertising dollars from these companies into their other shows.
Fox News is the worst for dumbing down Americans and promoting hate.
Glenn Beck, among other things, is an idiot!
http://www.glennbeckisanidiot.com
I Just love the few shills on here that says they saw nothing racist or wrong with the above comments lol
"Obama has a deep seated hatred for white people and white culture.. the president is a racist"
"Drink your wine Nancy.. I poisoned your wine..."
Lol.. Everybody else.. Keep up the good work people... Maybe with enough advertisers pulled Faux News will return to the Solar System instead of wandering around the galaxy in their insanity.... Hoping they return to earth is just to much.
It's amazing that so many vicious comments were levied on then President Bush, and how comments not nearly as vicious about President Obama immediately draw such comments that Fox News promotes racism and violence. What a joke! Not shown in the video is footage of Glenn Beck going to great lengths to promote peaceful demonstration.
I suppose going to an overtly racist church for over a decade would make Glenn Beck a racists, right? Opps! It was President Obama who went to a racist church! Wow, what a brain-dead crowd. Brain-dead b/c if McCain went to a church pastored by David Duke, he would have been crucified. I gave Obama a free-pass on this one, though other candidates would not have gotten a free-pass.
Is free speech dead if you are not a democrat? Are we not a nation of free thinkers? Accusation of the first black president acting in the role of promoting race-based agenda is free speech. We are supposed to question ALL the motives of all of our leaders and follow no man blindly.
I'm Republican. I opposed the Iraq and Afganistan invasions. I live in the south, and I do not own a gun. Wow. Amazing. I think for myself, and I question all decisions that our selfish, money-grubbing, over-sexed politicians make. And if you think any in Washington are outside of that description, you have truly mastered the art of self-deception.
Just talked to State Farm Office and they say their ads got out there by mistake. They are reviewing their practices to be sure that it does not happen again. They have a policy not to advertise on programs that express extreme views on either side of the political specter.
Nice. Accusing someone of being a racist is now considered a racist statement. By that same logic, this blog story is racist.
I just switched to State Farm and I'm eating at Red Lobster again tonight. Travelocity rules! What's wrong with you lemmings...don't like the truth?
I just wanted to point out something amidst all the chaos that has ensued. For the morons that believe that the United States Postal Service is wrong to advertise where ever they choose because they are a "government agency" I would say, stop working yourselves into a tisy and put down the cat nip and go take a look outside.
The U.S. Postal Service is a quasi-government agency that acts separate of the United States Government. It acts as a corporation seeking its own profits, and can sponsor who ever it chooses. They also chose to sponsor Lance Armstrong and the U.S. Postal Service Cycling team for several years. As a "private corporation" it ranked #3 on Fortune's 35 largest PRIVATE companies. It can do whatever it wants. (FYI Fortune is also a private company) Do your homework read, 1984 and Fahrenheit 911. Stop worrying about other morons and what they can or can't say, and maybe they won't tell you what you can or can't say.
Advice from one idiot to the next,
Orwell
I guess the advertisers who pull support just don't want the truth out there. Of course Obama is redistributing wealth, because he hates rich white people. Just look at what he says, what he does, and who he hangs out with. It couldn't be more obvious, unless you're just a lemming.
It's a free country, he can say what he wants. good for him.

You reich-wing Beck and FAUXNoise freaks are a bore. Yawn.
By the by, nitwits, the Post Office is a quasi-government agency. While the Postmaster General is a political appointee, it is not funded by taxpayer money, but funded by sales of its services and products.

Now, go stick your empty melon's up Glenny Becks voluminous ass.
@RyRob (#95) - The downward spiral started in Bush's term. You know, the administration that turned a record-breaking surplus into a record-breaking defecit and somehow... managed to just LOSE $2trillion overnight. so the economic nightmare is hardly an Obama "change". You perceive this as giving money to the lazy, we perceive this as making sure every American is protected, even the vulnerable and those who CANNOT work due to disabilities, etc. (or are forced out of work because of an economic downturn which they have zero control over) or who get screwed over by their insurance company who refuse to pay up when support is needed.
---
@TBoneMalone (#98) - Where is there any evidence to support this reparations nonsense? That's not truth, that's bullshit with little purpose other than to get white people scared and yes, media companies usually do care about advertisers but I guess the bubble you live in is completely opaque.
---
@anon (#99) - See my previous post and next time try to post a challenge that hasn't already been defied. The reparations nonsense and calling him racist are absolutely ridiculous.
---
@Dan (#104) - We never levied these types of attacks so early on, it was only after all the lies, all the "mistakes", all the outright failures... that we started to turn sour on Bush. With no evidence and little to get up tight about... the right-wing pundits are tripping over each other in trying to claim the sky is falling down, so early on and in lock-step with one another... the only 'joke', is your pundits and their insanity. The problem is that baseless insanity has a knock-on effect, especially with the narrow-minded fools that absorb the hype from Faux Noise.
As for these "racist" claims... you cannot find evidence of Obama being a racist it seems, I'm guessing this is why your best pitch on the subject is that he is racist by association. As you didn't have many options, I can't blame you for trying.
We're not saying Beck can't say what he wants, just that a responsible network shouldn't give air-time to an air-head who ignores facts to make bullshit claims... we're saying that the crazy things Beck is saying are effectively sponsored by companies and that those companies need to be aware of the effect Beck's free speech has on his faithful, emotionally-juvenile viewers.
I don't like Obama either but I also don't like people who make ridiculous claims based on little to no evidence at all (such as Beck).
---
@Hank (#106)
You can focus in one tiny piece of the argument to make some sort of strawman attack but you'd have to be ignorant to the "reparations" statement too... which I guess you did. You swung, you failed... gz
---
Why do we spend money on defense... to protect Americans.
Why should we spend money on healthcare... to protect Americans.
This isn't about distribution of wealth, reparations or anything else... this is about being civilized, providing a safety net for America's most vulnerable.
As a family-supporting caucasian, who has his own successful business and is disappointed by BOTH of the main political parties... I'd rather some of my taxes diverted from Halliburton's pockets and instead spent on ACTUALLY protecting Americans, saving American lives.
Yet the most deluded out there... will call me a "communist" for wanting my money spent more ethically and constructively.
*But irrelevant of Big Brother, 76% of America is with the Dems on healthcare reform. And much of the remaining 24% is propped up through misinformation, through the intentional deception due to Faux News's brand of crazy (Beck, et al) and much of that is corporately funded by the insurance companies (astroturf instead of real grass roots).*
Ahhh... *A new Gallup poll conducted August 6 through Aug. 9 found 43 percent approved and 49 percent disapproved. That's virtually unchanged, despite White House lobbying efforts, from the July 17 to 19 poll, which found 44 percent approval and 50 disapproval.*
To add to my last post..
*In many ways, the argument is generational. A CNN-Opinion Research Corporation poll from last week found that a majority of voters over age 50 opposed overhauling the health care system, while most younger voters were in favor of doing so.
In some ways, that stands to reason. Older people have more experience with health issues and the health care system. They are more vulnerable than those who are younger, and more likely to be facing end-of-life questions. They are also more concerned about the cost of enacting sweeping change and adding to the deficit.*
I wouldn't worry to much, after a majority of the people realize (his rating is already dropping like a cement weighted mafia victim tossed off the Navy pier) what kind of mess Barack "master of change" Obama brought them, they'll be more responsible with their votes come 2012. Then we might have a chance of repealing this health care monstrosity and whatever other crap he pushes through.
@ Dan
Your political and moral convictions seem tenuous, at best. I have one question for you:
Who did you vote for in '04 and why?
Thanks for the feedback Refinersfire.
It seems the 76% figure is from those supporting a public option (it might be among unions too). (It was from the Washington Post survey)
Gallup: "More Americans disapprove (49%) than approve (43%) of Barack Obama’s handling of healthcare policy."
Not sure if that translates to disapproval/approval of actual reform though as it only states it's about Obama's handling of policy. I have to admit his rambling on answers doesn't instill much confidence in me and I too disapprove of his handling of policy... but that doesn't mean I don't approve of reform.
It also stands to reason that all this nonsense about "death panels" and "government-sponsored euthanasia" could be unduly influencing those over 50.
I'm sure if it wasn't for people trying to scare them witless with unsubstanciated lies and outlandish claims... their perspective might just be a little different.
Refinersfire
"Older people have more experience with health issues and the health care system. They are more vulnerable than those who are younger, and more likely to be facing end-of-life questions. They are also more concerned about the cost of enacting sweeping change and adding to the deficit.*"
These are the same seniors that the repuglicant's are telling that the bill contains a 'death panel', that Obama's going to kill them. These are the same seniors that the repuglicant's are scaring the shit out of.
These are the same seniors who, many ,if not all of whom are on Medicare, say they want government out of their healthcare, who don't want socalized healthcare, and who are happy with their current healthcare; the same seniors who haven't a CLUE as to the fact Medicare IS a government-run healthcare, the healthcare they are happy with, that evil, socialized healthcare they're so afraid of.
I'm sorry, but the left are some of the most intolerant people on the planet. When Kanye West said "President Bush doesn't care about black people," where was your campaign to ban his music from stores? The left rallied around the Dixie Chicks for speaking out against President Bush. The giggled and laughed at pictures of Bush portrayed as Hitler. But one news commentator accuses the President of racism and he "is destroying the fabric of our democracy?" Are you kidding? Nowhere is the drive to silence dissent more prevalent than in the minds of Liberals. They are all for love, tolerance and free speech -- until someone says anything they don't agree with. I have news for you: "Free speech" includes what you define as "Hate speech" (and calling out the President on his lies, or accusing HIM of being racist doesn't even border on hate speech).
President Bush was undoubtedly a horrible experience for the United States, and I enjoyed every minute of Bush-bashing. But suddenly anyone who opposes the new President is a hateful, ignorant, foul-mouthed, hate-mongering bigot? You people are reactionary idiots.
Whoa, 1st Amendment Rights are being thrown out the window. I guess we're allowed to say whatever we want--but only as long as the majority agrees with it.
P.S. Although I think Beck can say what he wants, I don't think Obama is a racist. Elitist, yes. Smug, yes. Entitled, yes. But probably not racist. Rich politicians are just a whole other class of bigots.
The sun is setting on white devil oppression. We will have our revenge.
Heaven forbid we allow and encourage free speech in this country. The hypocrisy is mind-blowing!
RUSH LIMBAUGH....who are his advertisers?? He spews more hatred than BECK so why aren't the liberal forces after his advertisers??
Lets get this going...
Matt says;
I have news for you: "Free speech" includes what you define as "Hate speech" (and calling out the President on his lies, or accusing HIM of being racist doesn't even border on hate speech).
Matt, "Hate" speech is NOT free speech... Not caring about black poeple is a bit different than calling a black person a racists against white poeple. Besides, wasn't Barrack Hussein Obama raised by a white Mother, GrandMother and Grandfather....which makes Glen Becks comments all the more stupid and racist. You can't hide Racisim...it comes out of your pores. Glen Beck is a Neo-con racist.
P.S. this comes from a right leaning libertarian....now what's your argument?
Paul;
Free speech? According to your logic we should protect KKK death to all "inferior" races also? We should allow divisive commentary that could get someone killed or destroy the fabric of the Nation you so love?
Wake up my friend; we aren't suggesting the removal of free speech but if you are a true capitalist you understand that removing his advertisers through our own form of "Free speech" is OUR right. If you don't like our methods then ban the 1st ammendment...Oh...that's right you are for Free Speech!!
Oh no, I don't agree with him, suppress the first amendment. If that doesn't work (like the fairness doctrine) harass the sponsors to pull adverts so we can white was the world on only say PC things.
Smart. End of this republic.
LOL the MUDs attack candy ass Beck.
Larry;
I can't see how you can make the argument that "free speech" doesn't include "hate speech." That leaves a huge, creepy gray-area for the suppression of dissent:
Who defines what constitutes "hate speech." I was recently chastised by a coworker for being a racist bigot for supporting a secure border and measures to prevent ILLEGAL immigration (emphasis on the word ILLEGAL). His logic was that it is hateful to advance the argument that people living off-the-books but utilizing social services that come out of my paycheck is unfair. He wouldn't even hear my argument -- he immediately unleashed the accusations of racism. Let's be clear.. I didn't use any "bigoted" words, make accusations about "lazy" Mexicans, or anything of the sort. My rational argument was too hateful to be heard. To me, this is true insanity.
And that was the whole point of my post -- the left, champions of "free speech" are the first to wag the finger with accusations of bigotry and racism the moment they hear something they don't like. I live in California, and just witnessed the Prop 8 debacle. I heard convincing, non-hateful arguments for why marriage should be between a man and a woman (as Libertarian myself, I think the govt should be out of the issue entirely, but that's another debate). These arguments were well thought-out and presented in a calm, sensible fashion. But that's not how they are heard from the liberals. INTOLERANCE, HATRED, REDNECKS, BIBLE-THUMPING HATE-MONGERS! That's all we heard from the left for months. Free speech lovers indeed. They'll tolerate everything except intolerance. How's that for a contradiction in terms? It sounds eerily Orwellian to me.
As far as whether Obama is a racist, I don't really care. The issue to me is overshadowed by the giant nightmare we are in for in the next four years (please God let it be just four.) The outcry that we need to shut him down seems to amount to a fear that Americans will listen to him. Isn't that the whole point of political dissent -- sharing your message with others. If the left really walked their talk they would be celebrating Beck's right to say whatever he wants.
I also feel that people have every right to rally against his sponsors if they don't like what he's saying. Why not? That's there right to expression all the same. It's the blind hysteria that drives them, and uneducated opinion from people who have never watched his show that really alarms me.

Damn, some of you people are uninformed. I've been listening to Glenn Beck for about 10 years now, and the man is the most honest and caring dude on the planet. He is the only person in the media today that dares to say what he actually believes. I don't always agree with him, but I know that he's coming from an honest place.
Like most ridiculous liberals, you cut and sample specific audio clips to make a point, when if you listen to the entire piece he explains the evidence behind his thinking. Glenn is in no way racist; he's simply voicing his opinion based upon his personal observations and the evidence that's presented to him. Since when is it racist to state your opinion?
Liberals should at least respect the man for saying what he actually means, regardless of how unpopular it is. But, oh, that's right, you guys don't ever say what you mean because the only way you can effectively implement your socialist policies is to hide them under banners of "change" and "insurance reform."
What's funny is that I'm not even a republican, I just can't stand to see hypocritical partisans trying to tear down anyone with an opposing point of view. Grow some balls you damn losers and win battles using legitimate discourse, not by trying to silence opposing views.
I am writing the names of all these companies down so I can be sure to show them preference when I shop.
Wow... thanks for the clip... I had no idea what a totally insane jackass he was!
What Racial comments did Glen Beck make?????
Obama made racial comments and you say nothing.

It's scumbags like Media Matters For Communism, Black Victimization Groups, ACORN, The Obama Outfit, are the cause of racial tension in American.
Now Far-Left groups are willing to ruin people's careers of accusations of racism when it's not true.
The Far-Left is destroying this country and that's why Air America is in bankruptcy they needed donations just to keep the damn Leftist Radio up and running. That's why Rachel Maddow, Randi Rhodes, Ed Schultz left the damn Radio business they do not know how to run one.
Those of you down on Beck probaly think Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank are heros.
Ease back on the kool-aid Dem-wits, masters of mean-spiritedness!
He must be hitting a little too close to home. That's generally when this nonsense happens.
Idiots.
Chris, I've also been listening to Glenn Beck on the radio for years [well, for as long as I could without screaming at the radio in my car for him to quit lying] and WOW, I don't think we've been listening to the same person.
You do realize, of course, that he is not saying what he believes, he's saying what he thinks YOU believe. He has to appeal to his audience in order to get high enough ratings to get the big bucks he finds necessary to "survive." He tells flat out lies and he incites violence.
Your post just told me a lot about you.
Oh, and I voted Republican for most of my voting years and am a moderate conservative . . . a true conservative, not a Fox, Rush, Beck phony conservative. True conservatism isn't about hate.
Only the WORLD FAMOUS Alex Jones can lead us from the ILLUMINATI plan!!

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Do any of those folks above yammering about Beck's "free speech" see ANYTHING in the First Amendment which grants Beck the right to spew lies and hate speech on a television program? Beck's "free speech" is only protected from GOVERNMENT interference. This is about Beck inciting violence and making comments which are contrary to the interests of his advertisers. It is NOT a free speech issue, it is a business issue.
Come on you guys, don't be soooo dumb.
All these "sponsors" (insurance companies) got Obamas bailout porkulus tarp. You think they are not going to do what Obamas pr handlers want?
I'm all for being progressive, but don't all of a sudden become an Animal Farm now...
To be fair, the progressive media is going down the tank and the cons are on top. Just sayin'. Honesty won't hurt, really...
Man get a grip, who has fear that cost another man a job but can claim his soul at the gate? Big brother from the great book always had one goal in mind, silencing the opposition at all costs!
Come on guys, we all know Glenn Beck has a little secret in his closet he's keeping from us, Right?! I'm guessing its a pre existing condition?
Nice to see the dem nat socialists stomping on free speech. Bloody hypocrites wanted Bush shot for war crimes and Hitler`d Bush up real good. Thats why Air America went belly up so fast.
You people are out of your mind. Glenn Beck Speaks the truth you uneducated idiots. I can not believe what I am reading. Are you people that mis-informed??? I support all the companies that support Beck. Do your research before you open your mouth..........SHOW ME ONE THING that IS NOT THE TRUTH. Everything Glenn Beck says is easily verified. Why don't you research it........The US has gone to hell, and all of you pussies want to continue to run it into the ground!

The insurance companies who have withdrawn their advertising are AUTOMOBILE insurance companies who don't WRITE health insurance policies and have nothing to do with the health care debate, so your first point is ridiculous.
This has nothing to do with free speech . . . the government isn't trying to shut Beck's mouth.
As for your last statement . . . there is no "con media" or "progressive media." There are three opinion networks who draw roughly 4 million viewers A NIGHT during prime time. The two more "progressive media" opinion networks have twice the full day exposure of Fox with about 200 million to 100 million. So that premise is false. Ten times as many people watch the regular broadcast networks' 30 minute nightly news programs than watch Fox's ENTIRE prime-time programming. Shoot, 5 times as many people tuned into watch the season premiere of Jon & Kate plus 8 than watched the entire 3 hours of Fox primetime.
As for talk radio, there is no accurate way to gauge listenership , so Rush's claims of "20 million listeners" is just like everything else that comes out of his mouth . . . BS.
News has neither a liberal nor a conservative bent . . . it is NEWS. Opinion, that's a whole different subject and what you are watching on CNN, MSNBC, HLN and FOX is just opinion.
No John, MICHAEL SAVAGE speaks the TRUTH, Glen just follows.
spammurai
Nice to see the dem nat socialists stomping on free speech. Bloody hypocrites wanted Bush shot for war crimes and Hitler`d Bush up real good. Thats why Air America went belly up so fast.
This isn't a free speech issue. The First Amendment deals only with the prohibition of Government creating laws to prevent free speech. This is simply a business decision made by sponsors of Glenn Beck. These people have products to sell . . . when they get letters and complaints about the programs their companies are sponsoring, they have to make the decision whether it is financially feasible to continue to sponsor the programs being protested. It's called free market capitalism and has NOTHING to do with free speech.
Beck is a liar, a hatemonger and has incited violence on at least one occasion wherein a man shot and killed police officers based upon what he had heard on your buddy Glen's program. He's dangerous.
Oh, and I'm not one of the folks you falsely called a "dem nat socialist." I'm a moderate conservative who has voted Republican for most of her life . . . until the Republicans nominated an incompetent, non-conservative candidate in 2000 and then came back with another one in 2008.
Thanks Radio Shack for pulling out of Glen Beck. I'll remember you're one of the good guys.
I've been at jury duty all day and now feel the need to respond to some of the tangential threads spinning off the original article and my post (#2).
1. On free speech. The constitution does NOT protect people from criticism, complaints or boycotts resulting stupid speech, or from hate and violence inciting speech (like Becks). We are protected from the GOVERNMENT coming in, arresting and jailing people or otherwise criminalizing speech. Beck can say whatever he wants on a street corner, but when he is saying it on a national stage that is paid for by advertisers (to the tune of $20m/yr), the citizens have a right to say to those advertisers, "we won't buy your products if you support this jerk off". And yes Glen Beck is a Jerk Off. He purposely says outrageous things for no other purpose than to garner ratings and to cloud peoples minds. He has been caught in so many lies, distortions and BS that it almost seems normal now. This is the entire business model of FoxNews. And he IS inciting people towards riot with disinformation, fearmongering and projected racism.
2. FoxNews. Once again I would like to reiterate that Roger Ailes (president of FoxNews) and Rupert Murdock represent a larger threat to this nation than does Al Qaida. Under the protection of Freedom of the Press, FoxNews blatantly supports the radical wing of the Republican party, then denies it with an innocent look on their faces. Roger Ailes' previous job was a republican political operative and has been quoted on video and focused on affecting our election process. Add to this FoxNews' constant attacks on Barack Obama even before he was inaugurated. Bush was attacked AFTER it was apparent what a loser he is.
Our Press is the only thing that can stand between us the "people" and those who govern us. FoxNews contaminates this concept with abandon and constitutes a real threat to our freedom. And they do this by making people think with their testicles, be willfully ignorant and embrace violence over reason. While it's true that the other cable networks appear biased now and then, at least they aren't so obviously pro-corporatist republican ALL the time. Notice that Olberman, Maddow and John Stewart criticize Obama when they are out of line.
Who's Glenn Beck? I turned off my TV for good over ten years ago.
I hate the fact that he had to go and say these 3 racial comments. I'm afraid he'll go so extreme that he'll marginalize himself as a nutjob like Olbermann. Just for the record he is not being racist, but he is assuming Obama is racist with no evidence. The other 99% of his show is excellent. Finally there is a libertarian cable news show and it gets amazing ratings, second only to Bill O'Reilly! So please Back, shut up about the racial stuff.
murdoch is the master mind behind the curtain. its only the past few years that the USA has had a taste of his yellow journalism tactics. people in austrailia and G.B. have known this for a long time. every newspaper he has taken over has been bent over hard.... the WSJ is now a mouthpeice for murdochs sick world.
there are five more sponsors that will fill anyone of these other companies. until the all stop advertising on any newcorp paper or station, will he change his way of doing business.... murdoch cares not about the content as long as it is making money.
this is our generations w.r. hearst. read what this guy did, history repeats itself.
Bravo. !st Amendment aside, no one should just be able to say whatever the hell they want to.
i think beck is a closeted gay. he needs to come out.
I've read here some free speech vs hate speech arguments. They are irrelevant to Beck's case.
Beck has a right to stand on a soapbox and air his ideas in the park all the doo-dah day. Same as everybody else. He however does not have the right to a radio show, nor a right to a TV show. No one does. Their is nothing in the 1st amendment about a right of advertising support for your speech either.
People who find Beck's ideas poisonous to public discourse have every right to let Beck's sponsors know about it. If that knocks Beck off the air, so be it. He still has his right to free speech, he just loses his corporate megaphone.
Who's left? ------ Niagra, the pill that makes becks nose longer when he lies.
--------Preparation Beck, rub it on your lips to make them swell up so you
can't talk.
Maybe he can pull a Palin and quit, then move his show to Palin's forum of choice: Facebook postings.
The guy may be a nut, but he's got his right to free speech.
This is our only defense against the MSM who don't have be fair and balanced since Reagan repealed the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE.
This country, more than ever need two things:
1. Campaign Finance Reform - Public Contributions ONLY to eliminate Senators and Representatives being bought by corporate campaign contributions.
2. The restoring of the Fairness Doctrine to make NEWS honest instead of mercenary.
SWEET. You mean I can watch Glenn now and not have see that stoopid progressive commercial with that Flo chick... NICE!
How is this any worse than Hilary Clinton's comment about Ghandi working in gas station (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDHbHcOV1N4&feature=PlayList&p=5856DD24C36BD1BE&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=43)? To be honest I found her comments much more offensive than Glenn Beck's.
Also, what about Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Jeremiah Wright? These are three of the most racist people on the planet. Typical liberal hypocrisy! You guys are pathetic.
Hey, Remember Bill Maher 2002!? As Ari Fleischer pointed out in 2002, "...they're reminders to all Americans that they need to watch what they say, watch what they do. This is not a time for remarks like that..."
I'm so proud of GEICO's pulling out support for entertainer Beck. He's no longer funny if ever he was.
so geico pulled support for glen beck huh, well that means i will be cancelling my geico policy,i fucking hate every liberal on earth
Beck overreacts on occasion but... I never heard him say GD America.
When Noam Chomsky has a 1 hour show on MSNBC, then I might agree this country is starting to have 'free speech'.
Until then, corporations pay for mouthpieces on TV that are saying the things they want heard by the public. If corporations can be 'pressured' to pull advertising from certain shows, it's because corporations are sponsoring shows just to make money, not because they believe in "free speech".
Glenn is free to say whatever he wants on the street, or at his backyard BBQ, or at his daughters volleyball games. But if you want to make $millions by talking on TV, there are economic and political forces to be reckoned with - if he gets fired, too bad for him.
What are Beck's ratings? I know that O'Reilly, Hannity, and Greta are cleaning CNN and MSNBC's clocks by a HUUUUGE margin. O'Reilly even beats out CBS evening news - wow.
Beck's problem is quite simple-he's just not very bright. He's like a toddler trying to make sense of the world. If you listen to any of his shows, he simply acts on impulse. Like Ron Paul, he is making a fortune off of scaring people.
The guy is a former junkie turned Mormon pimp. He's a fucking disgrace and should be removed from the airwaves. The rest of his life he should be forced to work in a slaughterhouse, surrounded by rotting meat. Or thrown into the front lines in Afghanistan with no equipment.
Isn't Media Matters a lot like Jesse Jackson's Rainbow Coalition, that basically engaged in corporate shakedowns so Jesse could get rich? But hey, the Reverend has a growing family to support
To John 153,
I personally listened as Glenn Beck spoke of wanting to kill Michael Moore. What about just getting on with discussing the issues sans all the unpleasant language? He can prattle on as he likes but damn if I have to listen to it or buy from his sponsors. If that is what you call entertainment then you are as whacko as he is.
Obama is a racist....Jeremiah Wright and calling the police stupid without knowing the facts. I immigrated to the US 10 years ago and found the most racist people to be blacks. For the record I am asian.
I am switching to State Farm, and had a dinner at Red Lobster. Men Wearhouse has lost me as a customer.

The Postal Service is either a government owned corporation or a quasi-governmental agency (both are used in Wikipedia's article about them - see the first paragraph). One thing is pretty sure though, if the employees of the post office, who are protected under a union contract, knew that the USPS brass were spending postal money to sponsor a union hating freak while simultaneously closing post offices around the country due to "budget problems", I don't think they'd be to pleased.
Veronica said: "By the by, nitwits, the Post Office is a quasi-government agency. While the Postmaster General is a political appointee, it is not funded by taxpayer money, but funded by sales of its services and products."
It's not that cut and dried.
"The PRA [Postal Reorganization Act] gives the Postal Service a high degree of independence from other Government offices, but it remains part of the Government."
http://supreme.justia.com/us/540/736/case.html
"the Postal Service has also been the beneficiary of significant taxpayer funded appropriations, which more than cover the attribution to Postal of the $27 billion of military costs. During a period when the Postal Service has a statutory mandate to be self-financing, the Postal Service’s cumulative performance has been bolstered enormously and in an extraordinary way by taxpayers, and as a direct benefit to ratepayers. THIS is the 'person' and I use the term 'person' .. to be kind .. This is the person behind you idiots and your push to get Beck cancelled.
I give you VAN JONES:
Speaking to the East Bay Express, Jones said he first became radicalized in the wake of the 1992 Rodney King riots.
"I met all these young radical people of color -- I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of.'
I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary. I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th. By August, I was a communist."
Black Racist, Ex-Con, Radical, Communist and Now a 'Tool' (Uh, Czar) for Obama and his thugs!

Why is it wrong for Glen Beck to say the president is racist, but it's ok for this website and supporters of it to say Beck is racist?
Ha ha ha ha ha.
I am a State Farm policyholder for homeowners and auto insurance. I wrote to the company to complain about their continued advertising on the Glenn Beck Show and was sent the e-mail below, which would tend to indicate that they have pulled their ads realizing that the show is incendiary and detrimental to their brand image.
"Thank you for your recent e-mail concerning State Farm’s advertising on the Fox network.
We have a policy of not advertising on political or opinion programming. These ads were mistakenly aired, we have corrected this issue and have taken steps to make sure it does not happen again.
Understanding our millions of customers and thousands of associates hold a full spectrum of views on political issues, State Farm has a long-standing practice of not advertising in political discussion programming regardless of a program’s political point of view.
Because of the recent situation, State Farm is now evaluating its commercial placement practices to ensure its political issues advertising guidelines are maintained.
Thank you for your e-mail and your continued support of State Farm Insurance, both are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jairon L. Wills
Executive Customer Service Supervisor

We'll just do the right thing . . . . . cancel our policies with these insurance companies, and discontinue purchasing the products from companies that have the same agenda as our government.
I just checked out Office Depot's record, and have decided that I'll be going to Staples from now on. OD supports Limbaugh, and specifically refused to advertise on Air America.
Refering to Paul's letter to State Farm, and the response from Mr. Jairon L. Wills . . . I'm to assume that State Farm doesn't advertise during Chris Matthews or Keith Olbermann? BUNK ! ! !
if we can get beck the asshole dumped, next should be rush and hannity.
I watch Rachel Maddow pretty religiously and don't recall seeing State Farm there. I watch Keith often and also don't recall them there. Progressive seems to be there.
Why not call the NFL Headquarters, based in New York City?
That number is:

The switchboard hours are from 8:30AM to 7:00PM, Eastern Standard Time.
O'Reilly, Beck and Hannity think that the Nielsen ratings mean that more people are watching them than Olbermann and Maddow...
Keith Olbermann:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677/
Rachel Maddow:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/
But Media Companies realize this misses the HUGE audience of digital, Web video viewers:
http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/
Advertisers want better numbers on who is watching what, so they are forming their own consortium to challenge the old Nielsen methods. Nielsen is set to start measuring Web viewers by 2011, in response.
Sure, Grandpa leaves the TV on to O'Reilly, Hannity and Beck while he naps in the easy chair, but his 14 grandchildren are watching Olbermann and Maddow on their computers on their own schedules... and Advertisers are taking notice.
I bet more cats are watching Beck than awake people.
One thing I agree on that resonate through the many comments is that Wal-Mart deserves no respect - and in my opinion, is public enemy Number One! We have to remember that it was Wal-Mart that led the charge to outsource American jobs to China. It was Wal-Mart who sent teams of their advisers into China to educate their manufacturing sector on how to be successful - and from that effort, forced our other corporations that had American based manufacturing to outsource their operations so they could try and be competitive with Wal-Mart.
If Martial Law is ever declared, Wal-Mart has entered into an agreement with the government that their stores will close down and will be used to help feed the troops - not us. Wal-mart grows and prospers on our economy going to hell, and people are literally forced to shop there to make ends meet, or at least try to make it, which millions of Americans are failing to do. Without doubt or question, Wal-Mart is nothing more than a parasite that lives off America's misery. They are also an illegal monopoly, however, our government refuses to obey our own anti-trust laws because they are so intertwined with the government.

I'm sure you'd be thrilled if we had the Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan with his own primetime program screaming his Rabid Racist Rot to children everywhere. In my mind what people like Limbaugh and Beck have done is no less evil. Their history shows that they are good for nothing but destroying. But you GOTTA have 'em on? Then put em on in the middle of the night.
Those who hate Obama hated him on election-day. There weren't enough of them then and their voting bloc continues to shrivel.
Glenniwinks is in this pickle because he wasn't silenced or censored.

What are Beck's ratings? I know that O'Reilly, Hannity, and Greta are cleaning CNN and MSNBC's clocks by a HUUUUGE margin. O'Reilly even beats out CBS evening news - wow.
No, O'Reilly does NOT beat CBS, NBC OR ABC's ratings. The combined ratings of the three 30 minute broadcast news programs are TEN TIMES those of the entire FOX primetime programming. CBS brings in 5-6 million people a night for their 30 minute program. O'Reilly brings in around 2 million for ALL of the showings and re-showings of his hour long program. Jon & Kate bring in twice as much as O'Reilly for one show.
Ratings do not equal quality nor do they indicate truthfulness in the content.
I have been going to the websites of these companies and finding the correct email to send to their marketing folks commending them for removing themselves from this sycophant's tv program and reminding them that the program does not represent most Americans and that we support our president. SUPPORT for folks goes a long way.
Is this still news?
I just spoke with Kathy C. in the chairman's office at State Farm Ins. [(309) 766-2311] I have been a customer of theirs for more than 25 years and I told them that I was thinking of finding another insurance company (auto, homeowners and Medigap) if they didn't pull their advertising from this Glenn Beck Show. She told me that they had contacted Fox and told them never to put their advertising on the Glenn Beck Show. "They only want to advertise on the sports shows," according to Kathy. Shouldn't they be put into the the list that has withdrawn from sponsoring Beck?
I told Kathy that I would be watching very closely to see if she was telling me the truth and that if she was lying to me, I would start a picket line at the local office in my small town.
Tio Holtzman: Did you have a point? Free speech you have, provided you know HOW to speak.
Hate speech from an overpaid, overplayed assclown (i.e., Beck) via mass media and aired at us on OUR public airwaves is not free speech. Such capitalist/propogandist speech is not protected by either the Bill of Rights or the Constitution. Both documents are about individual freedoms. It is the reason our country severed itself from England in the first place. These documents were drafted to protect the individual from encroachment by government. In the spirit of their meaning, they also protect the individual from encroachment by corporations. The fact that the corporation was in its infancy at the drafting of both documents does not negate the import of either document's intent.
Simply put: Free speech is yours and mine -- not Beck's via Fox. Beck is free to say whatever the fuck he wants, so long as he does it as an individual. Using his retarded program on Fox to foment hate is not protected by anything other than Rupert Murdoch and the Repiglican machine.
And besides, protest with your wallet is as American as apple pie, so what's your goddamned beef? Even if we weren't protected from corporate hate speech, we'd still be within our rights to boycott. Do you even know what being an American means?

I work for a public relations agency representing Travelocity.
To clarify, please note that Travelocity did not specifically place its advertisements on the Glenn Beck program. Simply put, Travelocity buys ads in bulk and then they are placed somewhat randomly.
However, as of Monday Travelocity specifically asked that its ads do not appear during this show.

Gary: I can describe you in one word.
Pointless.
As in "lacking a point." What are you, blogmaster shoutout? Jeebus, moron. Try to make sense.
To everyone on this thread who has called Beck's sponsors to air their discontent: Great job, all of you. In the midst of perfecting his Citizen Kane routine, Rupert Murdoch forgot he has a business to run. Stick the fat fucker right where it hurts him most: in his wallet.
And for the record, wasn't this fuckwad Australian, then British, before becoming an American? The only thing that differentiates this guy from an illegal alien is his money, which he spends graftfully and probably illegally to change laws and twist commerce and trade regulation to suit his greedy, unAmerican needs.
Did you people all agree with republicans when they did the phone calls to SlimFast and got Whoopi Goldberg fired for her jokes at a fundraiser? Did you agree with the hate mail and phone calls regarding the free speech Danny Glover engaged in and got him fired from his advertising job?
Rush Limbaugh?? The fat, slob drug addic that must want to be gay,the way he sucks on those big ass cigars.
This guy is just a plain gob of blubbering fat! Makes me sick just to see him.
And beck?? Once a blubbering drunk, always a drunk. If he has quit drinking,I will pay for the party.
And don't forget Sean Hannity??? The anti-catholic!

Whoopi Goldberg and Danny Glover do not incite to violence as the rightwing hatemongers do.
There is a difference.
Gee! If you don't like the guy, why listen?
Glenn Beck may have gotten a bit carried away. But is he speaking the truth? He is probably saying what a lot of people are thinking right now. And if he is right there are going to be many changes in the fortunes of many people in this country. Corporations are instrument of profit and they will do anything to make sure they can keep making money. So their going to shy away from controversy unless they see public opinion going that way. Since the country is split right know these companies have decided to stay out of the game.

Making a death threat against a sitting president is not free speech, and, the Secret Service has a duty to investigate all threats, real or not.
Let's put it this way - Your neighbor threatens to rape your daughter and wife, and them shoot them, all while he said he'd tie you to a chair and make you watch. Would you say he's exercising his free speech or threatening your family?
You leftnuts are too dumb to even know what's going on. Over half the companies you want to boycott are big Obama supporters.. Wake up! Some of you are wanting to boycott GE. Think about this. GE is another huge Obama backer. They own NBC, CNN, MSNBC, which are all in bed with the president.
Do any of you know what the word 'bipartisan' means? It means working together, and that is what built this great country.
You people started attacking Bush before he was even sworn in, and you get pissed when we don't agree with Obama's Stimulus bill, cap and trade, and healthcare reform. We just want to know that Mr. Obama knows what's in these bills before he signs them, and to not believe everything that Pelosi says. I was all for Obama when he was elected, but the left just wouldn't let it go at that. They started saying things like you're a racist, and things even worse than that, if you didn't vote for Obama.
I could become an Obama supporter if he will only rein in Pelosi, and make her apologize for the cruel things she has said about American citizens being nazis if they protest. Why do I waste my time? Not one damn leftnut knows what I'm talking about.
[...] success of a campaign to knock advertisers off the Glenn Beck television show and radio program, our story was stunningly successful, with almost 3,000 votes on Digg and tens of thousands of page [...]
Shame on you Glen Beck. Jumping on the Bash Obama band wagon. Amazing that just 2 short years ago Mr. Beck thought the American Health Care System was worse than 3rd world countries but now that we someone persuing healthcare for America, Beck shows his true colors. Just a Democrat bashing Republican taking one for the team. Well, the comedy central piece 'Beck from the Dead' sure brought out the truth. Same on you Glen Beck!
Public Enemy once sang that "Our freedom of speech is freedom or death...we got to fight the powers that be."
The first amendment of the Constitution guarantees that each and every citizen be given the right to freely express themselves and their thoughts in any forum without censorship or limitation, usually without punishment or repercussion.
What our founding fathers (and perhaps Public Enemy--I don't feel I can speak for either) never saw coming was the ability to incite others with inflammatory speech. They couldn't possibly imagine people like Glenn Beck, Keith Olbermann and others having a national forum with which to eschew intelligent civil discourse in favor of loud, brash, opinions that stir up a hornet's nest.
In our nation, we have checks and balances. Not only are there some set in place by law (as the different branches of government, for example) to ensure that no one person or faction runs amok, but there are also the intangible ones that right the nation when it veers off course.
Hello big business!
Advertisers who took umbrage to Beck's latest comments, which referred to Obama as a racist, have begun to pull their commercials from his show. CVS Caremark, for example, advertises on Fox but has decided to pull any ads from Beck's show. According to spokesperson Carolyn Castel, “We support vigorous debate, especially around policy issues that affect millions of Americans, but we expect it to be informed, inclusive and respectful."
Good luck on that because TV "journalism" has, for the most part, become a cesspool with little information provided to the masses and, instead, is filled with nonsensical opinions by largely uninformed "newspeople".
Relatively unchecked by society, the rantings of TV hosts may now start to come under fire by corporations who don't want themselves linked with incendiary comments. While the First Amendment guarantees people can say whatever they like and are protected by law (and rightfully so), the real power is in the money. Democracy and freedom are inextricably linked with capitalism. While repercussions aren't always of a legal nature for spouting your opinions, they do often take the form of a financial retribution.
Beck and other TV hosts have every right to comment and share their thoughts with the public. But they are starting to realize that when they exercise their freedom, everyone else (like advertisers) has the right to do the same.
I would'nt expect anyting less. Fox is the only new station that can actually give a diffrent opinion that does not lean towards the left. People like Glen Beck are not doing anything any diffrent that the folks over at MSNBC and (etc). But because he is not in love with President Obama he is looked down upon. Hey maybe I can start a little watch group and get everybody to not buy the products that are advertised on MSNBC, CNN, and Headline news.
You people trying to get Beck's sponsors to pull their advertising have made him the top show of all others on the cable news stations. Last night over three million viewers...watched this man. Many of them watched because of you lefties bad mouthing him and his program, and they tuned in to see how wrong you are. The American people always favors the underdog... Kinda backfired on you, didn't it...LOL
The truth is sometimes hard to swallow, but Glenn Beck is telling the truth. Perhaps he does go overboard sometimes, but he is speaking the truth.
You leftnuts are a bunch of low life cowards. You're too afraid to stand up to anyone, so you make phone calls trying to yank someone off the air just because you disagree with him. You are definitely afraid of the truth and free speech. Beck backs up everything he says with evidence and undercover video. He showed a clip of Louis Farrakan telling the youth in his church that Obama is their savior. You must agree with Farrakan.
WHY HAS OBAMA APPOINTED A SELF PROCLAIMED RADICAL COMMUNIST TO A WHITE HOUSE POSITION?

One Down (Van Jones) Many, Many more to go!
Thank You Glenn.
The most disturbing aspects of this read has nothing to do with anything Glen Beck said. After all, free speech is what our ancestors died for and it is uncomfortable at both liberal and conservative extremes. What is disturbing is that (1) we all seem to comfortable that large corporations can give power to or take power from a political position (2) no one - conservative or liberal seems upset about this. We're all sucked into bickering on the issue as it gives us a false sense of having power. Agree or not, let Glenn speak and take your wrath out on corporations who don't promote free speech and open debate. If Glenn is out of bounds, let the public decide - not a restaurant chain, insurance company, drug company or big box. Don't they have enough power already?
So is it only Right Wingers you are opposed to?
Beck is over the top for me, though I don't think of him as racist - just pushing buttons to be a lightening rod.
But what about real racists like the poverty pimps Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? Where are your criticisms of them?
Steve, I don't understand your position - if you can convince a business not to support a person like Glenn Beck, then you have the power, not the corporation. News Corp is a giant media conglomerate, so if a boycott can affect that, it is truly powerful.
Let's see, bash Bush for 8 years = good. Call him Hitler, chimp, stupid, loser (as did sitting senators)...no problem.
