Facebook, meet Bush

Staffers for former President George W. Bush have an answer to the Facebook community's generally negative view of them: We'll start our own.

In a move reminiscent of the Bush White House's decision to create an "Office of Special Plans" to find evidence tying Saddam Hussein to al Qaeda in an effort to end-run the Pentagon and the CIA when things weren't turning out their way, former deputy White House press secretary Tony Fratto is leading an effort to create a social networking hub for "Bushies only."

In an interview with Politico, the erstwhile spokesman said efforts to program the site are underway and that a site would likely launch by the end of the year.

“Compared to the previous administration, we are coming out when technology makes it really easy to stay connected because you can do this kind of thing,” Fratto quipped. “Bush 41 or Reagan, they were on paper. And even for Clinton, you didn’t have this.”

Clinton, however, has a 700-member Facebook group.

The Bush cabal's current online watering hole is located at www.43alumni.com, a snapshot of which can be seen above. The site provides a neat, cleaned up version of President Bush's legacy, replete with links to "SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT" and "BUSH RECORD," which, apparently, warrant two links in the top header.

The top story cited on the site is from Commentary Magazine, and was published in May.

"Let's face it, this is shaping up as George W. Bush's best month in years," the story reads. "The last time the 43rd president enjoyed this kind of vindication was when a bedraggled Saddam Hussein was pulled from a hole in the ground by American soldiers in 2003. All of Barack Obama's efforts to cast the Bush administration as an immoral stain on American history have not merely collapsed, but collapsed on the heads of Bush's most public and vocal critics."

In another location, the site's creators illuminate their goals.

"We were there,” they write. “And as members of the team, we know the difference between rumor, reality, fact, and fiction. This is our chance to stand up, speak up and set the record straight."

Bush-Cheney's alumni group on Facebook has 400-plus members.

What else do these people have to do? They probably can't get jobs.

Well, if you're going to continue to be deluded... you need a bubble to stay inside of.

No point being on egalitarian 'channels' on the internet where your view of things is put into perspective... or even worse, could be challenged with facts (and we all know facts have a liberal bias)

Much better to do what the fundamentalists do... stick with those who affirm your delusions... make yourself feel normal despite having psychological illness by only associating with those equally deluded/brainwashed/retarded/etc.

Oh well, let them live in their bubble... the more separate they are from everyone else, the better it is for the rest of us.

  5. Typical right wingers

Can't get the media to lie for you? start your own network (FOX)

Can't get the people to vote for you? lie and smear

Can't get reality to bend to your agenda? create an "office of special plans"

"All of Barack Obama's efforts to cast the Bush administration as an immoral stain on American history have not merely collapsed, but collapsed on the heads of Bush's most public and vocal critics."

LOL. Really? Where's the proof? In fact, it's just the opposite. Remember, most of the world was dancing in the streets the night Obama got elected. The truth is well-known.

This is just another dishonest, revisionist website. Like Conservapedia.

More like an anti-social networking hub.

  16. The same sleazy people which have been supporting and attacking democrats for the last 16 plus years.

These people have no shame about what they say or do....

Look how they attack Obama for with what ever lie , deceitful statement they wish to say...

Do not get we wrong Obama has stepped on the wrong side of policies then that which he promised in his campaign for president and I now believe he is more of a corporate republican than that of a democrat..

But to attack him with their lies , deceit , BS and propaganda ,,, to say the least ,, shows they have no character and will do anything to reach obtain their goal..

Remember one thing this group is back by a corporate organization which has over 60 years experience in selling a product or person with lies , deceit , propaganda with commercials on TV and other news outlets..

So what to you and I may look like a stupid policy has many years of know how in selling to people around the world...

  18. These guys can try to white-wash history, but the people know:

Facebook's most populous group concerning Geourge Bush is:

"I bet I can still find 1,000,000 people who dislike George Bush!"
They had surpassed their goal, but currently they have about 978,606 members.

  22. Bird Dog Bush, Cheney and their Torture loving/advocating appointee lawyers to the ends of the earth.

They obviously violated Federal Laws and if we work hard enough WE Can Get Them Indicted, Tied, Convicted and Jailed.

We can win this one, but it will require some hard work from us.

Prosecute all those that tortured in our name, then go after all the other violations of Federal Crimes and our Constitution committed by Bush and Cheney.

I'd bet the first job for every sign-on is to create at least five or six different accounts for him or her self. Then they can say exactly the same thing five or six times. I'd bet a few "top level" operatives have at least twenty or thirty identities on the the site. Funny how they don't notice that transparency would have allowed everyone to see what they were really about, but that's another lie entirely, ain't it?

  27. R. Krueger

It really is so good that the ex president and ex vp create a place online that will allow them to communicate with alumnis and supporters without being attacked. A lot of people look at George Bush and only feel hate.

But some look at him and see a man of deep convictions and faith. A man who drove Saddam Hussein out of Iraq. A man who cut taxes the most ever and gave people even more power over their lives. A man who fought hard to bring Christ back to the US goverment. A man who defeated our enemies and kept us safe for 8 years. A man who got the American economy roaring. A man who loved his family and honored his wife. A man who knew that the ultimate judge was the Judge on High.

Any article that reminds us of all the good things George Bush did and the effective way Congress worked for most of his time in office is very good. Years from now people will love and thank him even more than they do now.

These blowhards will never, ever, accept the reality of the anti-democratic DuMbya presidency/dictatorship. Recasting historical facts will not change the outcomes those nefarious acts have caused. Abu Ghraib will always be a stain on this country, as will the FACT that America was lied into a war. No amount of "spin" will change those facts. Nor is the argument that he "kept us safe" since 9/11. It's fascinating, and nauseating, how easily they forget that it was his/their incompetence, bordering on criminal, that they allowed 9/11 to occur. Understood is the fact that DuMbya doesn't like to read, or think too deeply, but 9/11 was preventable. They blew it- period. Only those too mentally challenged to add 2+2 and come up with 4, and of course, the idiots who support someone just because he's as simple as they are could support such a clod.

  29. howie bledsoe

His "tweets" must be kinda funny, though.
"GW Bush is washing blood off hands, what a great night last night."
"GW Bush thinks that Chinese children taste better than African ones."
    etc.

  30. R. Krueger, that's the funniest post so far! It's satire like that that gets me to read the comments.
