In his first press appearance as senator, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) said he was "thrilled" he can celebrate victory and cheered the redoubtable integrity of Minnesota's election officials -- despite the fact they'd kept him from claiming a seat he seems to have won some eight months ago.
"I received a very gracious call from Sen. Coleman a little while ago," Franken remarked. "He wished me well, I wished him well, and we agreed it's time to bring this state together."
"Minnesotans have earned the right to take pride in the transparency and the thoroughness of our process and in the integrity of our election officials," he added.
He continued, "We have a lot of work to do in Washington, but that's why I signed up for the job in the first place."
