Speaking in Italy today, President Obama appeared to make a subtle jibe at none other than retiring Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.
See if you catch it, right at the beginning:
Yes, you will recall the Alaska governor who bragged about being able to see Russia from her home state, turned out to be pretty uninformed on even the most basic details of the world, it appears.
According to Fox News' Carl Cameron, Palin thought Africa was a country -- not a continent -- and didn't know which countries were party to the North American Free Trade Agreement. (That would be the US, Mexico and Canada.)
Of course, Palin came back later in a cushy sit-down with Fox host Greta van Susteren and denied the whole thing, then blamed bloggers for her misfortune.
Also interesting to note about that link above: She told Greta that God would show her the path to the White House ... And this was after she and McCain had lost the election.
(H/T to TPM for the video.)

The Corporate media has given this unqualified water-carrier a free ride. She kept saying "Obama hangs around with terrorists". Every time she opens her mouth, Palin is a joke.
After this reach, the retarded MSM really should ice that groin. Stretching like that, with those ruffled panties riding up that fiercely, has to be especially painful for those media idiots, always going the longest way around for the lowest of hanging rotten fruit.
C'mon, you infotaining idiots! That one was so rotten it had fallen off the vine onto the ground. What have your mommies always told you special needs loons about feeding off the dirty ground?
Atleast now she is back at her real job, talking to the Fish !
the current media manages to derive the most minute thing out of simple statements, yet when it comes to in your face corruption, instances of racism, and other blatantly obvious things they just can't seem to get it right....
Not to defend Palin, but since the western-most point of Alaska is roughly 60 miles from the eastern-most point of Russia, it just might be possible to see Russia from Alaska.
However, I have to agree w/Jason about the media. They focus on stuff like this, and meanwhile, the banksters rob us blind, Obama carries many of the policies of Bush, the two illegal wars continue, and on and on, and we allow ourselves to be distracted by silly he-said, she-said bullshit like this. We've really got our priorities straight, don't we?
My understanding is that Palin never said Africa was a country; that it was part of the information/disinformation mosaic which emerged about her. Am I incorrect? Does anyone have an authoritative reference?
hehe @ :23 seconds "...a president who's serious about producing corruption..." lol freudian slip...funny.
ninepipes
She still has a couple of fish in her pants.
Peg - here is an interview of Sarah Palin where she talks about Africa, banning books, etc. She really was mistreated. She said that it never happened. A witness that was there said it never happened. I don't think this country is ready for a female President. Most people I talk to can't even come up with one female they think could run the country. It really says a lot.
Even if you are in a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

I don't look at "fishy-pants" as a woman, she strikes me as a bona fide lunatic. Since she is a "woman', we have her kids to look forward to in the future.
Soon to be ex-Governor Palin declared she had foreign policy experience because from Alaska, one can see Russia. That means I have experience as an astronaut since from my porch I can see the moon.
This is not a jibe at Palin. He's just making a point that you can't generalize about Africa because it consists of many countries with different conditions.
Spare me, you're trying to make a story out of nothing!
I heard an interview with someone who was there (forget the name, but it was during her briefings for the debate) and it seems what she didn't know was that South Africa was a country, she thought it referred to the Southern part of Africa. This is a woman of very limited intelligence.
I think Obama's reference is to Bush. I believe Bush made a reference to 'The country of Africa' when he was first running for President.
I want to be very careful-"the U.S.A. has 50 states,not 57".
Yeah, Obama, and Ghana is also sitting on a HUGE amount of untapped oil, ready for exploitation.
Minerva - an interview (on Faux News, no less) with Sarah Palin verbally denying that she said and did some of the idiotic things she was accused of doing is not proof that she did not do or say those things. Other lies by politicians include wonderful lines like:
"I am NOT a crook!"
"I don't recall"
"I did not have sex with that woman"
"Nobody could have foreseen the attacks of September 11" (actually I could do a whole separate posting on Bush's lies but I think the 8 year Time of Darkness is still fresh enough that everyone remembers)
Politicians lie, whether they ride a donkey or an elephant. That interview proves nothing.
Zog, I agree there are a lot of liars out there. Many are eventually exposed. With the number of people out to get her and prove she's an idiot, you would think ONE eyewitness would come forward. All the sources have been anonymous.
Prove her wrong. The burden of proof is on the person making the accusations. You are still innocent until proven guilty in this country. At least for now.
Yes, you will recall the Alaska governor who bragged about being able to see Russia from her home
That was TIna Fey who said that doing an impersonation of Sarah Palin. Get your facts straight before you open your ignorant mouth you fucking imbecile.
