To Savantster:

1) I wouldn't worry too much about the Dem vs Rethuglican errata on the Colbert Commandment issue. Lord knows we've all said or typed something that we'd give our eye-teeth to have back for a judicious edit. You were gracious enough to acknowledge the error. Had you been a Fuxx news acolyte, you'd have either doubled down or subjected us to screeching abuse (or both). You're obviously perched higher on the evolutionary chain than those knuckle draggers.

2) I agree the Dems have been a rich source of disappointment in the past and will continue to govern by half-measures and misguided assessments of what the public will accept - case in point: significant majorities have expressed support for a Medicaid-like National Health insurance program. But the corporate wing of the party is busy sweeping the option under the rug so as not to offend the AMA and Blue Cross. We'll end up with the usual half-assed measure that solves nothing and kicks the can down the road a bit further until the entire gallumphing system collapses on the weight of its own inefficiency.

"Savantster, you Republican apologist doof ,"

LMFAO

You don't read many of my comments here, do you. Not only am I a staunch oppositional person to Republicans, I'm also not a Democrat apologist. I don't support either party because I know the game is rigged, and the two are simply partners in a dance that is no longer for the people.

Didn't Maher ask him about the 10 commandments, too? ... I can see if I got Maher confused with Colbert, but if I completely confused those two stories that badly, I should go talk to a doctor.. That or go watch Religulous again :D

gah.. I watch too much TV! .. the test must have been from Religulous then, eh?

Though, it explains how I conflated the two..

Just WAY too many examples out there like this to keep straight, I guess. That's the sad thing.

Hmm.. for some reason I thought it was deliciously ironic that it was a Dem.. not quite ironic to me if he's a Repub.. I guess the irony was the working on getting the 10 displayed.

I'm no fan of either party, and there's plenty of failings in the Dem party, too.. but, if this guy is a Rep, then I apologize for getting it wrong.. Too much irony, I guess, would make the world implode. .. thanks for the correction.. now, if only we could edit our posts!

heh

oops.

About that so-called "religious Democrat" and Colbert who said "you don't have to take an I.Q. test to get into government".....

As Candide and richard hall point out, it was a Republican congressman from Georgia.....and the 2nd half about the I.Q. test.....that was Bill Maher asking Democratic senator (and evangelical Christian) Mark Pryor from Arkansas about Adam and Eve and talking snakes. Maher says he worries about people who are running this country who also believe in talking snakes.....that's when Pryor made the comment about not having to pass an IQ test to be in the U.S. senate.
