Having been a victim myself, I can say this with authority. Prison rapists are usually the "top dogs" in their wing. These guys get extra privileges from the guards because they do their dirty work. If the guards don't like you then you can expect a visit in the showers sooner rather than later. Having said that, guards, psychologists and nurses that work in prisons can use their positions to force inmates into sex and then call it consentual. To answer the question about why so many people are in jail think about this. Is it easier to repair social problems like drugs and unemployment or just send people to jail?

To the grammarian commenting here, I will point out my own grammaticals errors to save you the trouble: I incorrectly said, "the woman's name to which you refer..." I more correctly should have said "The name of the woman to whom you refer..."

I assume that the apostrophe is possessive if used in that way.

BTW, its can also be the plural of it.
