President Obama's refusal to prosecute former President George W. Bush and the inner circle of Bush administration officials for war crimes, makes him an accessory after the fact. He, in turn, could be prosecuted. War crimes were committed, our Constitution was all but trashed, and President Obama, the candidate for "change that we can believe in," is running scared by the Banana Republican bullies who are not afraid to look fierce as they kick us in the groin, again and again and again. What is wrong with the Democrats? Are they all being blackmailed by Bush's NEOCONvictS? Or, do they just not want to get their suits rumpled while fighting back? The American people do not now need a bunch of cowards in the White House in place of the bunch of criminials that occupied it for eight years. In mid-September a war crimes tribunal is to be commenced. Many alarmed citizens, including professionals in the fields of law, science and medicine will be testifying at the trial. If President Obama and his appointees are too terrified to take this "war crimes monster" on, then it is up to the good citizens of this country to do the job of prosecuting Bush and his inner circle of advisors for war crimes and treason. Only when the lot of them, who have committed war crimes or authorized the commission of war crimes are behind bars will this country be able to look forward again. Then, and only then, will this country be able to "move on. "

Marjorie Cohn: "Obama's intent to immunize those who violated our laws banning torture and cruel treatment violates the President's constitutional duty to 'take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed'.'"

But get a load of serial-turncoat Senator Lieberman (Obama's mentor in the Senate, Loserman helpfully threw his toxic support to the Republicans during the presidential campaign season) today (26 April 2009) on CNN's "State of the Union":

"Sen. Joe Lieberman, the Connecticut independent, said the debate is moot because Obama has banned such tactics. A "truth commission" to investigate the interrogation program "will poison the water here in Washington," Lieberman said. "It will make it harder for the president to do some of the big things he wants to do for the country — not just get the economy going, but get some Republican support for health care reform, energy independence and education reform." -- AP

So . . . looks like Obama's fine with flouting the Constitution and okaying war crimes, if it serves His agenda -- which appears to be to turn the country's remaining resources over to corporate control. God forbid the quaint ole Constitution, or the "rule of law" these frauds are always prescribing for others, should -- in Lieberman's words -- "poison the water" in D.C.

Better to impeach this mob-friendly fraud -- not only for shirking His duty, but for trillions upon trillions of dollars worth of financial flim-flam on behalf of financial institutions and other favored corporations.//

Larry Barksdale writes:

"I believe that the Bush Administration should be prosecuted and hung from a moral stand point, but political it will show Americans as unstable and crooked to other countries."

The American political class IS "unstable and crooked" -- everybody in THIS country knows that, and those in "other" countries, particularly if they followed the Cheney-Bush administration (and the Democrats' craven collusion with Cheney-Bush's EVERY excess), and the past primaries of the former-Democrats, know it too.

Is "our" celebrity government so obsessed with how it looks to OTHER countries -- chiefly ISRAEL, apparently -- that its drifty corporate figure-head will now cave on EVERY promise of "change" He made to get elected, while continuing to throw the Treasury to the very rich, and continue to war against half the mideast while flying off to Iowa for some blabla about wind machines? And will the press and teevee commentariat CONTINUE to refrain from pointing out what He's doing? So it seems.

Representing the citizens of THIS country, rather than trying to spin public opinion in other places, is what the Constitution prescribes. If Obama's so hot to give the CIA a pass for "just following orders", maybe He should pardon the low-level military peasants who went to PRISON for "just following orders"?

William Pfaff in truthdig:

"The men who authorized, ordered and performed such acts should be hanged. It is as simple as that."

But where's Obama? Gone to Iowa to pitch "clean" coal, or whatever. Does His flight from DC look more yellow than "green"?
