mexicomanuellopezobrador Would be Mexican president accuses mafia of usurping governmentThousands of Mexicans rallied to show support for "shadow president" Manuel Lopez Obrador -- who believes his country's top job was stolen from him in 2006 -- at the mid-point of his would-be presidential term.

A 56-year-old leftist former Mexico City mayor, Lopez Obrador's hopes of leading this country of about 106 million were dashed (but not for long) when official results showed he lost the 2006 race by just some 230,000 votes.

He charges that a careful recount of the vote was carefully avoided by those who had the authority to duly pursue one.

Poised to emerge as a potential alternative to the conservative PAN party of President Felipe Calderon in 2012, Lopez Obrador has pushed on, day after day, insisting that he is, in fact, Mexico's legitimate president.

He works out of an elegant office in an old mansion in Mexico City, in front of a portrait in which he is pictured wearing the presidential sash.

Tens of thousands of supporters packed Mexico City's landmark Zocalo square Sunday to hear Lopez Obrador underscore that power has been usurped from the Mexican people, by -- in his view -- a "mafia" of powerful colluding political and business interests.

"They themselves know that this movement is the only thing that can take them on, and that can stop them," he told a sea of supporters. Lopez Obrador claims 2.3 million supporters have signed up in support of his movement nationwide.

In the past three years, Lopez Obrador has criss-crossed the country on a busy endless campaign, and has written letters to world leaders including US President Barack Obama.

He even has a complete shadow cabinet, and has been active in keeping the protest movement alive -- so much so that the traditional leftist Party of the Democratic Revolution has distanced itself from him.

  • There will be American troops in uniform in Mexico with in a very short time. They are thinking of which false flag to raise in order to justify our presence. Legalize reefer in America and you will take away a big chunk of the Mexican Mafia cash.
  • Phil E. Drifter
What American troops? They're busy serving their 6th tours in the Middle East.

Why take away cash from the Mexican mafia when the FedRes can just print another $880B? They make their money by inciting war across the globe, they won't stop that for any reason.
  • I know, my son in laws friend is on his fifth tour. Central, and South America are powder kegs waiting to blow. The 7 bases that we just got in Columbia is just a pre-cursor to what is coming. The House of Rothschild [the fed] finances and prospers from all wars, with our blood sweat and tears.
  • Elim
If they have a civil war down there, that would be a good excuse to use what troops we have left in the States to seal the damn border. That should've been done 30 years ago.
  • RadicalCaveman
If only Gore and Kerry had had the guts to behave the same way...

There has never been a "president" of mexico. The ten families that run the government leave the people with no solutions to the problems, other than letting the US babysit. Viva Zapata.
  • Elim
That would be a good covert op for our boys. Sneak into Mexico, arrest, kidnap or execute the ruling families, then sneak back to the US.

For what it's worth, no one seriously doubts that the election was fraudulent. The returns that came in showed Calderon always in the lead and it was a smooth curve even when the results were coming in from places that would have almost all gone for just one or the other of the candidates. By contrast, the PRI candidate, Madrazo, who had no chance of winning, results bounced all over the place depending on where the results came from in the kind of jagged line that you would expect.

I'm a hard-left liberal and I think illegals should be sent back - A. to increase wages on both sides of the border and let the stinking corporations we dont need their stinking badges.

    B. To foment true revolution in Mexico by forcing them to attack their own power structure, instead of using us as a safety valve.

    C. To stop the criminal murderers cold by legalizing drugs, and ending cross-border arms dealing.

If I was in Mexico, I would be attacking the authorities as well. This is one rotten world, and its high time the rich everywhere caught several big fat pieces of lead. They better get the message quick, cuz this country is as ready to blow as any of the leftish countries of S America.
Of course, when we expolde, its gonna be righties doing the work of corporate manipulators AGAIN, cuz stupid don't learn.

Liberals will be running screaming out of the country if they can. The world's future is dark. Having children now is stupid, but that doesnt stop every woman on the planet from doing it, and thinking it's their dumb right.. Stupid world, stupid people.
  • OldAtlantic
This is partly right. But whites should have children now so that there are good people in the world not just bad. Its also legal Hispanic immigration that must stop.

Oh yeah? "political and business interests?", well Obrador, you ain't seen nothin':

"Our mafia's better than your Mafia, our mafia's better than yours....our mafia's bigger, stronger and mucho more deadly, our Mafia is better than yours."

    Signed: occupied Norte America

We need to pull out our troops, pull them from EVERYWHERE and place them on our north and south boarders to protect what's left of this country. Then we could seek out illegals, deport them and then put the lazy, welfare abusing assholes (any and all colors). I understand that some need it for real, but I also know pleanty of people that abuse it. Anyway, I know that the soldiers would love to rotate on Americas boarders and truly protect America than protect a thankless people that want our help then turn on us because our goverments policies are for selfish reasons. Bring our troops home Obama!!!!! Show us what change is! For the better not the same old political BS.
  • marblex
legalizing will provide more protection than a million troops, which only attract and breed violence.
  • OldAtlantic
    Stop Latino immigration.
  • marblex
Legalize now! Repeal the Fed. Purge EVERYONE from government, replace them with trained monkeys.
  • This is his legitimate government website http://www.gobiernolegitimo.org.mx Not only was their vote fraud but prior to the election the outgoing president Vicente Fox paid billions of tax money and drug money to advertise against electing AMLO which is clearly against the Mexican Constitution. They also hired Dick Morris of Clintoon fame to get involved prior to the thievery and during.....The Mexican People voted for Manuel Obrador that is a fact and his mafia-NWO-Vatican-Devil/worshippers did steal it from the people of mexico that is a fact and will go down in history as such and shame on you raw story for not being more knowledgeable in what you write...
  • allenallen
We made sure the criminals got the money. 1st let me say... please don't buy illegal drugs... unless you grow your own, or know your source, you are funding some pretty horrible people.

2nd: It is interdiction that creates the high prices. Remember your basic supply/demand chart from Econ 101. A simple patch of weeds is worth a fortune under the current system.
  • marblex
it is interdiction that is the root cause of all the drug-related crimes. Sheesh....prohibition part deux is about as successful as the first.

LEGALIZE and take the profit out of it.
  • allenallen
I've read elsewhere the estimate that over 80% of these Mexican criminal's profits come from cannabis.

So.... what company could survive pulling 80% of their profits?
  • allenallen
And... thanks folks for not getting bated by the jackass troll and thus keeping the discussion on track.
