blackwater Report: Obama using Blackwater for assassinations in PakistanThe Obama administration is using mercenaries with the firm formerly known as Blackwater to kidnap and assassinate high value targets in Pakistan, according to a published report.

The program, operated out of the US Joint Special Operations Command, "is so 'compartmentalized' that senior figures within the Obama administration and the US military chain of command may not be aware of its existence," an unnamed source with direct knowledge of the program told The Nation reporter Jeremy Scahill.

Xe Services, formerly known as Blackwater, is also allegedly involved in intelligence collection for a drone bombing campaign in the country.

Scahill's report added: "A defense official, on background, specifically denied that Blackwater performs work on drone strikes or intelligence for JSOC in Pakistan. 'We don't have any contracts to do that work for us. We don't contract that kind of work out, period,' the official said. 'There has not been, and is not now, contracts between JSOC and that organization for these types of services.' The previously unreported program, the military intelligence source said, is distinct from the CIA assassination program that the agency's director, Leon Panetta, announced he had canceled in June 2009. 'This is a parallel operation to the CIA,' said the source. 'They are two separate beasts.'"

A Blackwater spokesman told The Nation that none of its forces are operating in Pakistan. However, a "former senior executive at Blackwater" told Scahill that Xe's mercs are indeed working in Pakistan, sometimes employed by the country's government to operate alongside soldiers. The arrangement allows the Pakistani government to deny any U.S. military presence in the country, while allowing them to tap former U.S. special forces members for high-risk missions.

Scahill added that the CIA is also employing the firm in parallel operations.

"Targeted killings are not the most popular thing in town right now and the CIA knows that," Scahill's source reportedly said. "Contractors and especially JSOC personnel working under a classified mandate are not [overseen by Congress], so they just don't care. If there's one person they're going after and there's thirty-four people in the building, thirty-five people are going to die. That's the mentality. They're not accountable to anybody and they know that. It's an open secret, but what are you going to do, shut down JSOC?"

During the Bush administration, the JSOC was reportedly being commanded by the vice president's office, effectively making them Dick Cheney's own "executive assassination squad," according to investigative reporter Seymour Hersh.

President Obama's top official on the occupation of Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, oversaw the JSOC from September 2003 to August 2008.

The White House did not respond to a request for comment, Scahill reported.

I want a registry of Blackwater, See Aye Eh?, No Such Agency, JSOC-whatever-the-fuck current, and former employees in my neighborhood. Like a sex offenders registry. For my safety and peace of mind.
We could put some of that stimulus gravy to work: hire a few g.i.s. people, monitor some credit cards, see where they hang out, keep 'em away from schools an sech. I mean, sheesh. Fucking murderers, maybe buyin a house in my hood?

I want these goddamn snakes outta my country!!

Like all of us "conspiracy theorists" have been telling you: McCrystal was Cheney's assassination chief. So of course, he's Obama's BFF and appointee to head the illegal and immoral Afghanistan occupation, and in all probabilty, the illegal and immoral assassinations in Pakistan.

    There is no doubt:

    1) We were attacked by the US military/CIA on 9/11/01
    2) We have been a military/industrial/corporate dictatorship since then
    3) The People are arming themselves in record amounts: I suspect they can feel the evil, and domestic threats by the above named, and as soon as the realize the real perps and traitors,.....shit hits fan.

Since long before that, farang, people just didn't really sit up and take notice until the economy started to tank. Now they're starting to wake up. About time!

Back when people had enough money to by every toy (ipod, cell phone, wii, blackberry, etc.) and then wouldn’t move their eyes or ears from their toys. So they didn’t have to pay attention to their surroundings.

And now that they have lifted their eyes and opened their ears (not because they want to but because they have to) they have no idea what is actually going on (since this all started in 80’s), that’s why I see people believing that everything bad started when the next group of reality show contestants moved into the White House. Oh by the way top prize for the top winner is an all expense paid retirement, personal guards, and health care plan.

There will NEVER be a difference between the red, blue and purple politicians because they are controlled by the military and paid for by the corporations and that’s who they work for … NOT US.

You just don't get it. One day they will turn on you. Here's the fatality list: Noriega, Casey,Allende, Husein, Jack Kennedy. You think eric "the"-prince of "darkness" has a warm, fuzzy place in his "christer" heart for a "black" president?" You do the math. I would certainly not "visit" the war countries with these "rapist-killers" running the security.

    .

    REMEMBER
Blackwater/Xe have been doing this longer than Obama has been in office.

It does not make it right that it goes on at all, I'm just keeping things in perspective.
Maybe we should pen LTE and phone our Reps. and sound off on the fraudulent and illegal use of taxes being laundered through the legislative process to fund illegal activities abroad?

    You know...
    ... A "REAL" anti-war movement?

Blackwater/Xe and their ilk are not just being paid to murder those opposed to US aggressions, I am convinced that they're also paid to create false flag terrorist attacks around the globe to justify invading and stealing other nations' wealth and resources. By creating the illusion that terrorists are everywhere, they create fear in order to gain the public's support for their lawless behavior.

Bush can deny accountability because he was just stupid.
Obama can deny accountability because there is too much red tape.

What surprises me most is that Pakistan can afford our overpaid mercenaries. The sooner US economy collapses the better 3rd world countries will become.
  • LWells
We have sent Pakistan billions. Excuse me, the US government has sent Pakistan billions. It is evident that the opinion of the US population is irrelevant to the actions of its government.

The US is a rogue nation with the most powerful military in history, and it is unaccountable to anyone, including its citizens. Or any politician, for that matter. If Obama tried to stop it, I'm not suggesting that he actually cares to, mind you, he would be dead. Decades devoted to torture and slaughter and anti-democratic regime change, in the name of fighting communism, but really nothing more than corporate interests, has resulted in a nightmare nation outside of any lawful or moral conduct.

And when it becomes clear that the US economy cannot be saved by anything other than gutting its military budget, all social services and lifelines will be cut in favor of becoming nothing other than a mercenary nation devoted to torture and slaughter for the highest corporate bidders.

Not that we have very far to go. It is already happening on a massive scale on the state level. Services are being gutted and it is due to the conservative "starve the beast" philosophy. They run up huge amounts of debt, cut taxes, get thrown out of office, complain about the debt, get elected because of the debt, then do it all over again. Why? Because government is the only thing strong enough to stand in the way of corporate rape. Only, of course, if the people actually control it. So they really have nothing to worry about, do they? Hell, a third of the US population supports it, another third is easily distracted by shiny social issues, and the last third are completely and blissfully unaware.

    USA! USA! USA!

What makes you think they are operating in Pak with permission of the Pak government?
  • Savantster
    .
Because Pak is a nuclear power, and we'd not be in there without permission. The risk is too great, someone there signed off on it.

and I doubt Pak is footing the bill; American taxpayers probably are.
