Less than one week after being tapped by President Obama for a key post on a board overseeing government-sponsored international broadcasting, former Bush spokesperson Dana Perino (and current Fox News contributor) blasted the current administration for creating a "mockery" out of the justice system and suggested that the president should know better than to be captured on video playing golf during wartime.

After the Fox hosts slammed Obama for playing too much golf, Perino sort of defended Obama by mentioning that former President George W. Bush was a "maniacal exerciser," but then old habits appeared to take hold and she went on a mini-rant which alluded to — as other conservatives have charged — Obama "dithering" on Afghanistan.

"One of the ways that he kept a clear head was to be able to exercise a lot but he decided not to play golf early on in his presidency," Perino said of former boss President George W. Bush. "In fact, I think President Obama has already played golf more than President Bush did in eight years. I don't begrudge him for playing golf but you have to understand when you have the B roll of the video that shows the president playing golf while there is a 10.2% unemployment rate, while his senators are basically having to twist arms in order to get this party line vote, while KSM is headed to New York City for trials, while we have the Gitmo detainees possibly coming to Illinois — they have to understand that people could look at that and say, 'Oh, and by the way General McChrystal has been waiting 86 days for a decision about Afghanistan.'"

Fox and Friends host Steve Doocy helped Perino twist the knife: "Yeah well, Dana, your boss felt that by him playing golf at a time of war in Afghanistan and Iraq it sent the wrong message. Obviously, this president doesn't feel that way."

Perino then claimed "Michael Moore did a whole documentary based on the president playing golf."

In actuality, the 122 minute Academy Award winning documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 — by far, the highest all-time grosser — only devoted a few brief moments to President Bush's golfing.

"Yeah, do you think he's going to do one on this president?" Doocy rhetorically asked.

Perino said, "Well, if he did he would probably be smart to but it would probably be a very different tone. I'm sure."

In regards to the terror hearings, Perino held little back: "In testimony last week, Eric Holder, the attorney general, said the he and President Obama had not even had a face to face conversation about this and so that the other thing is they have already made a mockery of what they say they want to do because their position is inconsistent. They say they want to have a fair trial here in America and yet they say they're confident there is going to be a conviction. They're confident that people are going to be put to death or that they'll have life in prison but you don't do that in our system. Look, we had a military tribunal system. We have a safe facility for them to be in in Guantanamo Bay and we should have used it."

Last week, as Raw Story reported, Obama tapped Perino to the bipartisan Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), after she was recommended by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

Obama also nominated Walter Isaacson, president of the Aspen Institute leadership group and former CNN chief executive and Time magazine editor, to serve as BBG chairman. All nominees must next be confirmed by the Senate.

The BBG's mission is to "promote and sustain freedom and democracy by broadcasting accurate and objective news and information about the United States and the world to audiences overseas."

RAW STORY correspondent Eric Brewer often sparred with Perino at the Bush White House briefings, over issues such as Bush remarks alluding to Qaeda allegedly plotting to steal Iraq's oil and the Pentagon military analyst program.

Brewer accused Perino of ducking his questions, until she was "shamed" by other White House correspondents to call on him.

Well, this is convenient. Now this terminal syphilitic, Bush-loving prostitute can cover her own trial and convictions for war crimes and treason. This brazen piece of trash is now pulling a Rove, laughing, prancing and giving the finger to the public and the Constitution (Nya nya, fuck you peasants. I am above the law!) instead of doing the wise thing like finding a very big rock to hide under. This is demonstrative of the insanity of the entire Bush criminal regime she actually thinks she is going to walk. You are still in everyone's gunsights bitch. Don't fool yourself, you will be brought to justice. There is no place to hide for war criminals like you, Rove, Rice, Bush......

And don't forget that piece of sycophantic shit Ari Fleischer. And cable news needs his opinion?! wtf. I must puke. Again.
  • lorn
Ummm, Mr. Finnegan. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but Obama and Eric Holder have been shielding and protecting Bush and Cheney from torture investigations since the day the fake man of peace took office.

I wish your rant was true because the Bush crime gang is guilty and deserves to be brought to justice. But Obama actually gave this nasty tart a job! So exactly how do you come up with the idea that she is in everyone's sights?

The real criminal gang in Washington never goes in or out of power. The just hold staged elections with two candidates who have been preapproved based on their willingness to sell out the American people on behalf of the corporate whores who rule us.

Geez man, I would have thought a real independent reporter would know that. Bush will not be brought to justice by Democrats or Obama, they work 24/7 to protect him from justice. We the people? The ICC and the Hague? It all hangs in the balance.

I would have thought elements in your enjoinder regarding Obama protecting Bush and Cheney are such common knowledge that it was redundant to cram it in that small space for comment as.any fourth grader is aware of that situation. My sincere apologies and thanks for pointing this out. In the future I will endeavor to include these redundant facts for people such as yourself that have "Special Needs" in comprehensive analysis. My personal thought on this is "Leave no idiot behind."

    Thank you kindly Robert.

Please do include all redundant facts in your future comments, because as you know there are far too many fools here who actually believe the Democrats are somehow different than Republicans.

I do find it a challenge to counter the hundreds of comments posted up every day here which seek to lie to people and con them into trusting Obama. You, clearly being a genius have no doubt figured out the truth, that Obama and Bush are the same type of animal, working for the same masters.
While the vile war criminal Bush was in power, I went to sites which favored him and loved him and trusted him. I challenged them to defend him on all sorts of issues.
After all it was those fools who kept Bush in power.

So now, I attempt to apply the same standards to Obama. I come to sites where the kool aid flows freely and remind people that their messiah is moving forward with all the Bush criminality.
Wow, Robert, you should see how angry the Obama devotees get when I do that. Some of them are so enraged, they actually resort to sarcasm!

    Have a wonderful day!

I am an equal opportunity asshole mate, have been my entire career and I too find the individuals living in the fantasy land where there are actually separate parties droll, unimaginative and cowardly. I have other work to do and tend to stay away from politics. Never voted in my life.

I have to toe the line sometimes still even after 25 years in the business and having this outlet to spew on is a refreshing change. For an all too brief while I get to hack, slash and overuse profanity to my heart's content. Lowers my blood pressure.

That's why it pleases me immeasurably to have enlightened fellows like you out there on the front lines doing the dirty work and taking the heat I and my colleagues should be doing in the name of "Democracy."\: Instead, today we are going diving off Bali, having written Blowbama and his crew of closet Bush/Cheney traitors off long ago... like two weeks following the elections. You really should be, however, more circumspect about who you insinuate is an Obama lover without the fact-checking. I plan on being in the howling media pack covering his war crimes trial and subsequent execution, sort of makes you look like you didn't do your homework on me or are just plain, fucking stupid. Goddamn, that feels good. I will hoist a Bintang for you on the beach and wonder why you have not left that shithole already, unlike those of us who can see very clearly what is coming down the pike.

Keep kicking them in the nuts, stud.

Maybe if I blog enough negative, ill-founded, slanderous, untruthful, scurrilous crap about politics and foreign and domestic policy, Mr. Obama will shut me up with a big, fat, plum no-show job, too.
    Oh, to be a playah.
  • Disgusted (former) Democrat
Maybe, perhaps, someday, Obama will realize that white Republicans simply are not going to admit him into their country club no matter how many worms he swallows for them.

Until then, Perino is just one more sadistic conservative who gets libidinous pleasure from obliging Obama's masochistic request to be hit over and over.
  • piltdown
Of COURSE she's going to sting him in the back after he helps her across the river. It's in her nature.
  • tjfxh
Yup, that sure was a wise move on the president's part.
  • roland99
Steve Douchey? Puh-leeze. What a tool.

    And Perino?

"Like, oh my god! Like, this President Obama guy is, like, totally bogus, you know? He, like, wants to give, like, these terrorist guys, like a platform or something, you know?"
  • jimthebeam
"and like, you know, like give me a job or something. Oh My Gawd!" :-)
  • darker
yeah, like a scaffolding platform for their hanging, that's something, ain't it? huh?
  • marxymcliberalson
Yea, how could this go wrong?
I just keep hoping I'm playing checkers and obama's playing chess.

Uh Dana, I know you weren't working at the time for the Bush Administration, therefore if you werent briefed on it you are as clueless as your blond bimbo looks would indicate, but try looking up this quote... if you can't find it it in Farenheit 9/11...

"I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers. Thank you. Now watch this drive."

Or maybe you think Obama should just LIE like bush did when he said he stopped golfing August 19, 2003 in solidarity to those soldiers killed in the war on terra. Only problem is he DIDNT stop golfing he just SAID he did, as usual LYING out his ASS!

SO how about this Dana, how about a guy whos so motivated and multi-taskable that he can golf AND address Afghanistan AND address terrorist trials AND address the economy all without going on vacation on his ranch. How about a guy who looks like hes not busy gettin stuff done than a guy who tries so hard to look busy but gets nothing done. How about the guy who DOES THE HARD WORK not the guy who keeps telling you how hard the work is!!!

How many vacation days has Obama traken and how many had Bush taken at this point????
  • anothergreenbus
    How could Perino go wrong?
Actually, how could Obama be more stupid?
Obama is making Clinton's triangulation look like three dimensional chess.
  • Savantster
    .
So the mouth piece for the most vacationing president in our history thinks a little unwinding from the stresses of being president is "wrong"? .. and in the midst of one of the most partisan attacks in our history?

these people are simply fucking deluded.

And what's wrong with the Dems? You don't put your hand in the mouth of a rabid dog.. and you don't hire rabidly partisan schmucks to be on your staff.
    .
  • Scuby
Ms. Perino, I understand your upset about not keeping KSH at Gitmo where he was tortured...and upset that he will get a fair trial, but you know what...(reality check alert coming).....BUSH AND CHENEY ARENT CALLING THE SHOTS ANYMORE! We had this little thing called an election, and YOUR SIDE LOST. As Bush (or was it Cheney?) often said .."elections have consequences". Obama won the election after campaigning to close Gitmo, and the majority of voters agreed with him. Get over it already! As for playing golf......"NOW WATCH THIS DRIVE". Nuff said!

To me it's not even close between the mouth of Sauron, or the pie-hole of Dubya, as to which is more evil. This prostitute is merely buttering her bread for the next Republican go-round. So what if thousands of Americans were killed, tens of thousands maimed, and (not that any Republicans care) uncounted numbers of innocents maimed or killed, in an illegal war

It's just a game. And, win or lose, she wins. She's famous for being famous, not for being effective, not for being professional, not for being moral, not for being human-esque.

I bet the prostitute sleeps just fine, for all that. The money must be soft and cozy. She should be shot as a traitor to human values.

Meantime, no jobs, no spine, no standing up to those who tortured in our name, no standing up to the corporate titans who wrecked our economy, nor the war profiteers, and the message drifts into inanity . We won't even get out of a shit-hole country where we're in a war we cannot ever win. And unless you happen to be one of the already-wealthy, or the oh-so-connected, you're pretty well fucked.
