september911flagsmemorial Denver Post mocks lawmaker for denying he compared Obama to terroristsColorado Republican State Senator Dave Schultheis had the dubious honor of being named "Worst Person in the World" on Thursday by MSNBC's Keith Olbermann for his unfortunate use of Twitter.

"Don’t for a second, think Obama wants what is best for U.S.," Schultheis tweeted. "He is flying the U.S. plane right into the ground at full speed. Let’s roll."

"'Let's roll," Olbermann repeated. "The rallying cry from Flight 93 that crashed in Shanksville, PA on 9/11."

Schultheis has denied that the 911 reference was intentional, telling the Denver Post, "It's a comment people use all the time any more. 'Let's get going. Let's move on. Let's make major changes,' I can see it now. But you're busy doing jillions of things during the day. You sometimes don't analyze every single word."

Schultheis also suggested that his own reputation for controversial statements may have given people the wrong idea. Last winter, he aroused outrage when he was the only member of the Colorado state senate to vote against a bill requiring HIV testing for pregnant women, objecting that it would "remove the negative consequences that take place from poor behavior and unacceptable behavior."

Story continues below...

Nobody in Colorado, however, seems to be accepting Schultheis's excuses. The Democratic president of the state senate called his remark "appalling" and even the minority leader agreed that "Dave shouldn't have gone there."

The Denver Post mocked Schultheis by responding with some tweets of its own.

"DenverPost_EdBoard @Sen_Schultheis: Don't think we buy your claim you didn't mean to equate the president with terrorists. No one is buying it."

"DenverPost_EdBoard @Sen_Schultheis: To believe that the American people elected a president intent on destroying the U.S. is hateful and absurd. Such debate is debasing."

"DenverPost_EdBoard @Colorado_GOP: Demand that Sen. Schultheis apologize. Insist that your party keep its criticisms meaningful. The president isn't a Manchurian destructor."

"Apologize, resign, get impeached," Olbermann exhorted Schultheis in conclusion. "Do something to make us forget that you just mocked the dead of 9/11!"

Schultheis is an idiot. Has been for decades, probably for his entire life. To make a statement that CLEARLY shows his mindset and then make an insensitive comment is par for the course.

So Obama is flying us into the ground? That is a hell of a trick after the nosedive we took with W in charge. I don't see that we had that much further to go. And contrary to the old Bugs Bunny cartoon, "air brakes" don't stop you in your tracks. W had put us on such a downward spiral that it's going to take some time to undo that so that we can even seriously think about fixing anything.

OldAtlantic: Try "Old&BORING" instead. Go home. You're not funny, you're not interesting, you're not insightful, and your mother dresses you funny. I'd spend more time trying to talk sense with you, but that is clearly a waste of time. You're not interested in decent discussion, you just want to bad mouth Obama. BORING. Lead, follow, or get out of the way. In your case, just get out of the way.

So this is a pro-life kind of right-winger? one that votes to force an unborn baby to suffer and die after it's born because of a mother's illness (which she may well have gotten from a blood transfusion, or any number of other "non-vile behavior" means)? But he's against preventing that life from every having to be born or suffer?

these people.. wow.. sub-human pieces of shit pretending to be non-neanderthals.

It's alarming how ugly the right is becoming as Obama continues to lead through their quagmire of lies, disruptions and distractions. I'm not certain if it's more racist (though that certainly has a lot to do with it in many areas of the country) or just the 2% who own everything rallying together to protect what is basically a financial genocide of the middle and lower classes in this country. I served in this country in Europe and Afghanistan and I'm ashamed of the flag that I used to salute each day. Unfortunately, eight years of Republican "leadership" in spite of the election results has driven a stake into the heart of this country. We are all now protectionists - the difference is that the vocal conservative minority that controls the formerly free press are merely hurling insults from their ivory towers. The rest of us are actively working to tear those same towers down and our numbers our growing. Let's see how well those racist, arrogant bastards continue to attack when we are all on the same playing field. It's not the threat of socialism that's scaring them - it's the thought of having to pay the proverbial piper when we have the opportunity to talk to them face to face that keeps them up at night.

I think that we have the resolve to see this through, though. We know where the power lies, and attacking ACORN, Universal Health Care (we all know that it's the risk of losing THAT golden goose that is really terrifying, considering you've already exploited and destroyed every other market with the potential for bubble, and not our "tireless march into the arms of socialism" that scares you). The strength lies in our numbers and our willingness to work together, folks. The elite should have know that by lumping everyone not in their ranks together into the "downtrodden working class" that we would find strength in our unity. This revolution will be respectful, legal, and in numbers that you cannot compete with, no matter how you program your voting machines.

You should have seen the writing on the wall. We saw it. We wrote it. We guarantee it. Sleep well.

and what "harm" has Obama caused? let's see if you can find anything that wasn't started by Bush and dumped in Obama's lap..

Its starting to leak that Holder quashed the investigation of Hasan. Holder quashed the Black Panther investigation at the same time. Appointing Sotomayor. Hate Crimes laws that don't cover whites, Christians or service members and thus exempt Obama and Holder from being held accountable.
  • "Starting to leak"? Haven't heard a peep about it. Must be more Faux News crap being fed and gobbled up by another fool.
  • zogtheobvious
First of all, don't get too excited: Nobody liked the comment; I accidentally clicked on "Like" instead of reply. So, Nope. Zip. El Zilcho. None. Nada. ZERO.

    Now.

Please explain how appointing Sotomayor is bad leadership? Please explain why hate laws should be expanded to cover whites when they are, as a rule, not victimized. (Actually, I DO think hate laws should apply to everyone, and applying it to whites as well would be a valid amendment; but not applying it to whites is NOT the urgent, America-crushing oversight that conservatives make it out to be. And the crap about it being used to shield Obama and Holder from crimes against whites is just ludicrous.
  • disappointedvoter
The harm that Obama has caused is by failing to prosecute ANY of the hundreds of serious felonies committed by Bushco. And many of them have nothing whatever to do with Iraq.

As far as I'm concerned, there is NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE between Obama's actions and Bush's.
  • justjoeindenver
Are you going to offer any justification for your comments, or just throw a typical attack statement with no basis out there to generate anger? I mean, did Glenn Beck torture and rape a nine year old girl? I'm just asking questions and nobody seems to want to answer them....
  • barrelhse
As far as I know, Glenn Beck has never denied the rape and murder of that young girl.
