Fox News regular says Katie Couric ‘looks Oriental’

Speaking on Don Imus' Imus in the Morning program, which is simulcast on Fox Business network, Fox News regular and President George H. W. Bush appointee Bo Dietl launched a personal attack on Couric, who some conservatives consider too liberal to be an objective news network anchor.

Dubbing Couric a "cougar" -- a woman who dates younger men -- Dietl continued:

She looks like a Halloween cartoon. She’s got her eyes pulled so far, she’s starting to look Chinese herself. Enough with these face lifts, alright Kate.

And enough with the young guys Katie. You’re over the top baby. You’re over fifty. Start going out with guys your own age. This cougar stuff don’t work.

Later in the interview, he went one further: "You like her eyes the way they look? They’re getting smaller and smaller."

"Ten years ago, she looked American," Dietl remarked. "Today she is an Oriental."

Imus replied by calling Couric a "rodent."

Dietl has appeared on the programs of Fox's Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Neil Cavuto and numerous times on Imus' Imus in the Morning.

Couric replaced CBS News' Dan Rather in 2006.

    I do not normally write comments but I just happened to read the article. I read comments and it really confirms my thoughts that freedom of speech is no longer an American's right. Granted his words were inflammatory, but that is what he intended. Our country now has gotten to the point that one cannot voice their opinion without facing verbal attacks. Recently we were talking in my office about the Obama/Pelosi healthcare plan. I stated that I had concerns about it. Immediately I was insulted by being called a rascist because I did not like Obama. We are not supposed to question anything he does because he is black. What!? All the anger and hate I read in the comments here really concern me because I am seeing it in my workplace. This man on the radio is highly intelligent--when you push someone else into getting angry at your comments you are in control of them. He has not been living in a cave, he knew referring to Ms. Couric's eyes as "oriental" would irritate--that is why he did it. The best way to handle people like him who are insulting and verbally abusive is to ignore them and say "who cares".

    I can't stand Katie Couric. I refuse to watch any news show she is on. When she was younger she was cute and sweet. Now she seems so vicious and cut throat when she interviews people.

    I just checked out how Katie looks, and she is as pretty as ever. While Asian women are also beautiful, Katie definitely looks like that all-American girl. Now to the real issue: can't find anything factbased to denigrate a successful woman? Go with the old double standard about looks. Coming from two utterly unattractive men (who have, sadly, little to recommend them as valid critique makers of anything), it's just pathetic.

    Even if he would be fired, he'd be back in a year or two at his ole friend's show. Just look at Imus' stroy. He got kicked out for ugly racist remarks not so long ago, and he's already back. As if there aren't lots of fresh talents queuing up to get a chance to bring some new life into that program! No, those media idiots have to give that stupid ole fart another chance. Nuts.

    How pathetic can you get. What we call the Right or Conservative in this country seems primarily to consist of people who are so desperate for attention that nothing they say or do is off-bounds. They know no restraint, lack any sense of reason, and appear to have had the gene for common decency torn from their bodies with their teeth and bare hands; since they couldn't go to a doctor and have this decency gene removed because that would clash with their perverse need to attack any health care initiatives that would directly benefit them.

    Almost nothing seems beneath them. There's no tactic so underhanded, no lie so ridiculous, that they won't tell to prove their point (when they have one, which is less often than you may think).

    Though what scares me most is that their behavior is simply theater. Theater of a dangerous, demagogic sort, but still theater.

    The question is though, what are such displays distracting us from. While we watch the magician's left hand, what's going on with the right?

    First off, it's just pathetic that a pair of real lookers like Imus and Dietl would be anywhere talking about the looks of ANYONE else. Imus is a breath or two away from death, and Dietl looks like he's bloated from some kind of water retaining drug.

    Secondly, the statement "This cougar stuff don't work" is a real statement from a guy who is no doubt jealous that he can't get younger women to want to have anything to do with him. He wants to tell HER what does or doesn't work? Maybe it's working FOR HER. And apparently it is, because she's still doing it, isn't she?

    Third, I didn't like Katie when she was younger, and never paid much attention to her at all. Now, however, she's come into her own, and as a woman in her 50's, she's pretty hot. She's confident, she's secure, and it shows. No wonder younger guys want to be with her. Wouldn't mind myself, but I'm in my 50's, too and so I'm too old for her. Oh, well. And that's my sexist statement for today.

    Get over it, Imus. You are really one to talk about someone else's physical attractiveness.

But since he started to serve at the NYPD in '72, Dietl must be 55 or older. Too old for Katie's taste. And that is the main reason for him protesting her cougar attitude, I'm sure.
