navyseals112509 Fox hosts outraged Navy SEALs charged with abusing detaineeThe hosts of Fox & Friends are up in arms over the forthcoming courts martial of three Navy SEALS who were involved in the capture last September of an Iraqi terrorist believed to have orchestrated the murder of four Blackwater guards in Fallujah in 2004.

One of the SEALS is accused of punching Ahmed Hisham Abed in the face after he was in custody, and all three are charged with making false statements to cover up what had occurred.

The suspect might have been injured as he was being apprehended, but one witness has stated that when he checked on Abed shortly after his capture, "I did not notice anything wrong with the detainee and he appeared in good health." Abed complained of abuse by the Americans after he was handed over to Iraqi authorities and an investigation followed.

The Fox hosts, however, see this as an outrage.

"The Navy SEALS who captured him, you'd think, would be getting a heroes' congratulations," Alisyn Camerota stated indignantly. "Strangely, they are going to face assault charges for capturing this most-wanted terrorist, and all because he complained to superiors and said that he had, basically, a bloody lip as a result."

Story continues below...

Brian Kilmeade then chimed in with an impressive display of convoluted logic, suggesting that it was only natural if the SEAL assaulted Abed after he was in custody and that to hold him responsible for it would just reward the terrorists.

"These three guys, and maybe a whole entire unit, have searched far and long to find out who perpetrated this brutal crime," Kilmeade insisted "You finally get a hold of him -- and even if it did happen and you let your emotions get the best of you and you popped him two or three times in a war -- can you believe you wouldn't have been caught? How do you expect to win any war, any fight, if of course this is the message. And now the word is out -- if you were caught and you were a terrorist say you were assaulted, because you'll end up right in New York City and the guys that did it will end up right in jail."

Conservative bloggers are now fighting with one another over whether the military is doing the right thing in the case.

Allahpundit argues that "the fact that this turd got the Iraqi authorities involved may have left Central Command with little choice here. The last thing the military needs right now is another detainee-abuse headache, especially with some Iraqi pols already leaning on them about withdrawal. Giving the SEALs a zero-tolerance wrist slap reminds other troops not to do anything more seriously stupid that might be exploited politically. And it will be a wrist slap, I’m sure."

Uncle Jimbo, however, rips into his fellow conservative, writing, "Noted beta male and 'many moons ago' entertaining blogger Allahpundit at Hot Air throws three Navy SEALs under the bus just to appease people who are only safe to be appeased, himself included, because of these rough men. ... That wrist slap would be a career-ender in Spec Ops for these men. You understand? We take three guys who accomplish more in a lazy afternoon than you have in your entire anonymous, snarking-from-the-sideline, existence and we put them out of work making dead tangos."

"I realize you get paid to say controversial shite all day long," Jimbo continued. "Every once in a while you ought to take a gander at who gives you the freedom to flap your freakin' gums and think twice before you decide that zero-tolerance demands that your betters suffer for some bullshit like this. Don't offer the PC losers cover, ever. They will use it against my friends."

Geeee! What a surprise! Fox Noize has no clue about anything, It's not a news organization at all. It's right wing propaganda. Anyone who takes this garbage seriously should check their family tree to make sure their dad is not their grandfather. (becuase it's very likely that he is!)

Although I'm sure holding these soldiers to a high standard is a decision being made by their superiors, the FOX propaganda ministry is going to end up laying this FOX interpreted mistreatment of our soldiers at the door of our President. Ok. He is occupying the house established by the American people as the seat of a government built upon high standards. And he is supposed to maintain and help reinforce those high standards. So, just because FOX and their minions have lowered-actually, tossed out- their standards, the rest of America will just have to hold President Obama in even higher esteem.

Why not wait until the actual facts are presented before passing judgement in the case. Regardless of policy decisions by Bush or Obama, these men are following orders. They're not given the luxury of inaction, and thankfully for us they don't want it. How does anyone know what the situation on the ground was who wasn't there? Obviously these men feel they can make their case that either, he's lying, or just as likely, he wasn't cooperating and it was mission essential that he be made to do so.

It appears that the option was offered to just take the Captain's Mast and be done with it. These guys are willing to risk a lot more to force the issue. I understand that people who haven't had to sacrifice for their country sometimes don't understand the application of a concept such as honor or integrity, but I suspect their decision has more to do with their own belief that they were within orders and acted accordingly than political grandstanding. Their future won't be dictated by public opinion on either side of the aisle but rather their own abilities.

People that volunteer to be the tip of the spear and are actually successful should at the very least be given the same rights as the people they risk everything to protect. That's an old American idea and speaks less to the political persuasion of it's detractors than to their character.

The 4 blackwater "pinatas" hanging from the bridge. Thoughts and prayers...(heh,heh,heh)

What does the "navy" do in this "desert" illegal occupational war? Oh, that's right, they sit off shore and torture people. Just like what the "british" did in the Revolutionary War. They had "Prison" ships anchored off the coasts to put the "Freedom Fighters" onto, so they could also beat them and tortore them. Yep, what an "outrage."

The Iraqui people didn't ask us to invade their country. Now that we've made a bigger mess of things than Saddam ever did, they want us to leave. And for some crazy reason, whenever one of them manages to get off a few rounds at us - the occupying force - we call them "terrorists."

They're not the terrorists, folks, WE are.
  • "Strangely, they are going to face assault charges for capturing this most-wanted terrorist, and all because he complained to superiors and said that he had, basically, a bloody lip as a result."

It wasn't capturing him that got them in trouble, it was what they did with him afterwards.
  • Bob
I'm sure there is a lot more to this story than a "bloody lip". They probably did something horrible and deserve to be locked up. The US military is mostly comprised of lowlifes, hillbillies and morons anyway. Enlisting to fight pointless wars has to be the dumbest thing someone can do. I actually find it unpatriotic. There is very little honor in serving in the armed forces.
  • Greg
Hey Bob if you hate America and the people who protect your freedom so much then why don't you leave the U.S. You obviously have no idea what type of people Navy SEALs are. They put their lives on the line everyday for scumbags like you and this is the thanks they get. I happen to know a SEAL and you would think twice about them if you met him. They are extremely smart and patriotic. I can't believe any American would defend a terrorist who murdered four Americans. This is pathetic. You should be thrown into the mountains of Afghanistan and shown the reality of what these guys go through, then maybe you will get your head out of your ass.

    Hey Bob,

Go live somewhere else......I hear Fallujah is nice

Seriously? Plant the cross in Mecca?

I'm catholic , and that is just poor form.
We are not right or wrong. We are existing. Believe what you must , but don't force your religion on others and say you are right. On the other side of the ocean people might be saying "look at these aggressive and contradictory Americans, we should convert them!"

What happened to Jesus' teachings of peace and equality? Where does it say in church law that we need to crush people who believe differently? You are a hypocrite and a sham and this behavior wont be tolerated by the sane any longer.

On the topic of this article. It is not up to Obama what actions are taken, look to these SEALS superior officers. They are doing their job by keeping rank and file. Orders are key. If someone says no prisoner abuse , the civilian excuse of " heat of the moment" wont fly.

    Fox hosts outraged.
Fox hosts using Vicks to simulate crying.
Fox hosts pander to adrenaline (epinephrine) junkies -- and yes, it was an intravenous drug of abuse when first isolated. There used to be adrenaline shoot up parties.

    What else is new?
  • ex_gijoe
When I was in Basic Training in the US Army, one of the first lessons we had was on the "Geneva Conventions" and how to handle prisoners. Just because some crackpot President decides to throw those rules to the wind doesn't mean you aren't going to pay if you break rules of international war. It's your responsibility to do what is right. Only you will suffer for the consequences of your actions - orders or no orders.

So according to raw as usual, the news isn't the abuse but FOX's or some GOP reaction to the abuse. Abuse is going on today, yesterday and tomorrow and Raw knows full well that the man in charge is Obama, but they're willing to mostly ignore that to push their gay-centric politics of control. It's pathetic.

How many news organizations out their are calling for limitations of the rights of SUSPECTED criminals by associated Glen Beck with those who would let criminal suspects retain their rights as citizens until proven guilty in a court of law? Not many. Pathetic.
  • Freedom's Toast
    "Gay-centric politics". LOL
Yeah, the gays are sooo happy with Obama.
I gotta wonder though...you seem to kvetch about that fairly often.
Think about it a lot, do ya'?
  • OldAtlantic
Navy seals are good Christian men protecting this country in a far away land. We should back them up with a draft of 2 million men and plant the Cross in Mecca while we still can. I pray for these young men that the Navy will do what is right and fully exonerate them.
  • Freedom's Toast
Uh...is this the gay-centric part? Prayin' for young men?
  • NotConvinced
Are all Navy Seals "good Christian men"? Was that part of their training? Here's some facts Mr. OldAtlantic, from an article about lowered recruitment standards:

"Back in the early 1990s almost 100 percent of Army enlistees had a high school diploma. But the Army documents show the percentage has dropped to 79 percent in recent years.
That's a real problem because a high school diploma, recruiters see that as an indicator of success … of completing training and actually becoming a better soldier," Bowman says. "That's something they've watched for years and they're really concerned about it."
The documents also show that waivers for serious misdemeanors increased from 3,002 in 2005 to 8,259 in 2007. The most serious criminal misconduct charges include burglary, narcotics/drug charges, aggravated assault, larceny, and breaking and entering.

They're cool with gangbangers and skinheads too.
I guess they could be Christians too. Lot of the Tea Scrotums don't act very Christian either.

I'm glad to see Howdy Doody has a good job now that he's grown up. I wonder why he changed his name to Brian Kilmeade?
  • OldAtlantic
Navy Seals are elite men. Also the military has minimum IQ requirements. See Steve Sailer who writes that this is why it works even with diversity elements.
