oscar Conservative slams Oscar the Grouch for criticizing Fox NewsForget Tinky-Winky, or whatever his name was. Meet Oscar the Grouch.

A conservative blogger at Andrew Breitbart's "Big Hollywood" website -- the onetime right-hand man for conservative maven Matt Drudge -- is now targeting Sesame Street for its "unfair" portrayal of Fox News as "trashy news show."

Evidently, Oscar the Grouch's "GNN" is not trashy enough. (Oscar, the furry green puppet, if you remember, lives in a trash can.)

During a Sesame Street segment, Oscar finds himself interviewing a puppet celebrity. A crabby viewer calls in to rebuke him after one of his subjects begins kissing him.

“I am changing the channel," the viewer crows. "From now on I am watching ‘Pox’ News. Now there is a trashy news show.”

Story continues below...

Breitbart's "Stage Right" blogger will have none of it -- even though the episode was originally broadcast two years ago and only recently re-aired.

"If Mom and Dad watch cable news, it’s better than 50/50 they watch 'POX News,'" the blogger pens. "So what gives? PBS — a network partially funded with my tax dollars — has the right to tell my kids that their parents watch “trashy” news?

"The message is clear," the blogger continues. "I can’t even sit my kids in front of 'Sesame Street' without having to worry about the Left attempting to undermine my authority. And don’t tell me, 'If you don’t like it change the channel.' There are no channels left! It’s everywhere. Just last week I had Obama’s service and volunteerism promoted on every single major network, including Disney and Nickelodeon."

Breitbart's blogger is even upset that Fox News stars don't get kitschy nicknames.

"Later in the episode, Anderson Cooper from 4th place CNN, guest stars as a reporter for GNN," notes the vexed Sesame-watcher. "He interacts with 'Walter Cranky' and 'Dan Rather-Not' — Muppets representing real-life liberal news personalities — and they talk about 'Meredith Beware-a' and 'Diane Spoiler.' But no affectionate nicknames for Fox News personalities; no Spill O’Reilly or Brittle Hume — nope, and the only disparaging characterization of real-world news is reserved for Fox: Fox is a POX. It is trashy. They didn’t even attempt to try 'MessyNBC.'"

We'll let you be the judge.

(Tinky-Winky, by the way, was a Teletubby singled out by evangelist Jerry Falwell for carrying a purse and allegedly acting gay.)

    >>"the Left attempting to undermine my authority."

Im sorry, but I cant read a line like that and not start laughing out loud while visions of Eric Cartman dance before me.

Oh yeah, like no one on Pox News Fretwork ever says anything bad about other people. What goes around comes around, or as Casey Stengle once said, "If you don't pitch it, no one will swing at it." As for Breitbart, isn't he Drudge's old boyfriend or something? If I couldn't do any better than Matt Drudge I'd be bitter, too.

Its not about what was said about fox news, its that it was said by an outlet that is paid for by taxes. Those taxes come from people all across the political spectrum and therefore PBS should stay neutral. What if your tax dollars were taken from you and used to tell your kids rawstory, cnn, and msnbc is trashy?

"the episode was originally broadcast two years ago"

If your ability to absorb information and formulate a response is THIS slow, maybe you need to watch more Sesame Street.

    LMAO get a fucking life.

Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

You have *got* to be s***ting me! This better be satire, Breitbart. Otherwise, man, you are just headed for the dumpster.

I believe the us vs them mentality that is pushed so hard by the right had its origins in the christian church. Sunday after Sunday (and Wednesday and sometimes nightly for one or two weeks at a time, then again in summer camp and again in vacation bible school) it was drilled into our head how we were to keep ourselves separate from the "secular world", which is evil and conspiring to corrupt and/or stamp out Christians.

Do these losers ever stop playing the victim?
  • WJM51
God, how desperate do you have to be to make yourself a victim of Sesame Street?

One of the right's big tricks is to show that they are constantly under attack. It gives their listeners an "us VS them" mentality. The televangelists have been doing it for years, and they have been turning it up to a fever pitch for a while, now. Notice how everyone is out to get them. In this case, even Sesame Street. That horrible bastion of socialism, Sesame Street.

They are just mad that they keep getting called on just what they are, TRASH. Pox is an appropriate renaming, BTW. Way to go Oscar. Give "em trash. They wallow in it.

Yeah....there's a left-wing idealogue under every trash can lid. After all isn't the "cookie monster" a freaking libertarian...I mean... after all he's just giving the cookies away! Or maybe he'a a socialist because he wants to share the wealth!
  • GunTotinLiberal
If I remember correctly, the Cookie Monster doesn’t give cookies away, he keeps them for himself.
  • paddles57
    So then he's a Republican.

    ROFLMAO!!!!

The idiot complaining about this clip is apparently brain dead... And most certainly doesn't get Seseme Street or Oscar.

The muppet caller is saying"you are not doing a good job, I am going to watch a station that does a good job"

It wasn't an insult to Fox (although Fox deserves to be insulted IMO), it was a compliment.

    Sheesh!!
  • Jodie
I think you are twisting the words, she's saying, "you are not doing a good job [of being a trashy network], I am going to watch a station that does a good job [of being a trashy network]"

That is not a compliment. Plus given how a lot of people percieve Fox News as trash, the intentions are pretty evident.

Look I'm not a fan of Fox News, really could care less of defending them, but it's obvious what that statement meant, no matter what side of the debate you are on.
  • rickpetes
lWhy is this twit watching a socialist show? "Partially funded" with his tax dollars, should mean he's against the programming on actual idiological lines, but instead he's whining for FOX?!

Americans truly are a stupid people. I think I'll start making plans to welcome our Chinese overlords.
  • First of all, Oscar didn't trash FOX news, it was that female monster...let's get it straight!!!
  • Let's get that female monster! AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

O'Reilly's "The War on the Sesame Street female monster thingy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
