fairbalanced Fox host snaps at Democrat who questions fair and balanced sloganA Fox News host lectured a Democratic congressman who questioned the network's fair and balanced slogan during an interview on healthcare.

Fox anchor Gregg Jarrett hosted a discussion between a Republican Tennessee congresswoman and a New Jersey Democrat over whether mandating health insurance coverage was constitutional. After a series of back and forth exchanges, and repeated talking over each other, Andrews questioned the underlying fairness of the exchange.

"Can we have just a minute of 'Fair & Balanced' here, just an an exception here?" Rep. Rob Andrews asked. "Medicare was challenged on the same basis and it withstood constitutional challenge Gregg. I think this will too."

Jarrett snapped back, amidst chuckling from GOP congresswoman Marsha Blackburn.

"Congressman Andrews, I'm not gonna let you get away with that because I asked a very tough question of your colleague Marsha Blackburn and you know it," Jarrett said. "And that's a cheap shot and I'm not gonna put up with it here."

Ha! Ha! Gregg Jarrett is angry because he knows that Fox is a lot of things, though "fair and balanced" they aren't.

Besides, Beck, O'Reilly, and Hannity are the face of Fox News, so it seems logical that during a fight you go for the head.

Please check your syntax... there is no SUBJECT in this sentence.

A Fox News lectured a Democratic congressman who questioned the network's fair and balanced slogan during an interview on healthcare.

The world is burning and you are worried about spelling and syntax in your posts? Get a job as an editor and burn up your perfectionism there.

Remember, due to the judge's decision to over turn the florida case against FAUX NEWS, they do not have to tell the truth. With this knowledge, it is nothing more than an "Info-Commercial-Station" for the misinformed "chickens" that sit on their asses in their "hen houses."

That'll teach a Democratic Congressman to go on the GOP Network.

Even The Simpson's made fun of FOX News, and had the FOX host put the Democratic guy on upside down on the screen, called him "Comrade", and twisted everything he said, plus the scrolling text on the bottom of the screen attacked the Democratic guy constantly.

FOX News is a joke, and shouldn't be used for serious policy discussions. You don't compete in a sporting event where the refs want the other team to win, and are caught throwing the game every week...

It's funny how thin-skinned FOX is when they have no problem with lying or spreading propagnada, but whever you do, don't call them on it! That's not "fair and balanced" of you. Personally, I am glad that non-neo-cons are starting to call Faux "News" what IS. It's the repellicans' propoganda outlet. That's ALL it is 'cause it ain't news, it ain't FAIR and it ain't BALANCED. I'm a also glad Faux is hiring neo-shills from more reliable networks. Take Beck, Stossel and even Dobbs. Put them where they belong.

just another of faux news stressed out ranters talking over a guest and never getting to the heart of the matter from the opposing viewpoint? I mean really did the guest stop talking in exasperation several times?
why have guests if they are not given an opportunity to be heard? and when in this example the gust questions fair, and balanced?
    this is the repsonse?
    let faux talk among themselves.

Who is the idiot who decided that news was supposed to be "Fair & Balanced"? News is supposed to be a report on the facts. Facts are not fair or balanced - they are simply truth.

If someone says the "earth is round", do we need someone else to come on and say, "no, the earth is flat"? That would be stupid - but too many "news" organizations feel compelled to bring on an opposing viewpoint when reporting "news".

"Fair & Balanced" may be appropriate for opinion, but then the channel would be called "Fox Opinion", not Fox News.
  • Mr. Neutron
If someone says the "invasion of Iraq will be a cakewalk", do we need someone else to come on and say "no, it will be a decade long quagmire, and we won't even get the oil concessions in the end" ?

That would be stupid, for the owner of the "News" corporation, because he would lose advertising revenue from war mongering corporations - but too many "news" viewers feel compelled to seek out an opposing viewpoint when watching the for-profit "news":

    www.TheRealNews.com

Fox would call itself "The News that Jesus Watches" if they thought it would make them more profitable.

"If someone says the "invasion of Iraq will be a cakewalk", do we need someone else to come on and say "no, it will be a decade long quagmire, and we won't even get the oil concessions in the end" ?"

That would be legitimate opinion and I don't mind that too much as long as it is clearly called opinion and appears in an opinion program. Where Fox steps over the line is they would report the news story of the war in Iraq as a necessary war that we were winning even if the facts show otherwise.

Dem's should never appear on a Fox show (oh, geez...I hope that sentence had a subject).
They will not get a. Fair shake.
  • loneranger1
Jarrett is a pansy bully who dishes out cheap shots continually.

Talking over people , interrupting with psycho interpretations and commentary and rigged questions on top of questions - in short - every linguistic trick in the book.

It sells to the gullible, hateful and unsuspecting for power and money.

    FOX = traitorous organized crime.
  • Pliskin
Another second and Mr Jarrett would have been crying like a baby, The obsurdity of a Faux commentator being snippy for alleged Unfair & Unbalanced conduct, is a joke. And I'm lmfao after seeing Jarret's borish little tantrum.
  • Hologram5
And has Fox EVER been "Fair and Balanced"?
  • stormy7
Fuck you Greg. Fox 'fair and balanced" is a joke.
  • B_Godot
If you're a news organization which constantly announces that you're 'Fair & Balanced,' you know your audience must be the 'choir' because it's a joke to anybody else that watches. I mean that really must be the point - just one more poke at the non-choir.
