patricklanzo100909 Georgia restaurant uses N word on anti health care reform signAn Atlanta, Georgia area restaurant owner with a history of racially provocative behavior is attracting renewed attention with a sign outside his restaurant saying "Obamas plan for healthcare: N****r rig it."

"When you walk into the Georgia Peach Oyster Bar in Paulding County, you feel like you've walked into a different era," CBS Atlanta reports. "Behind the pool table's a mannequin in a Ku Klux Klan costume."

When the CBS reporter asked owner Patrick Lanzo why he'd put the sign up, he insisted, "I put all kinds of political signs up. ... I've used the N-word most of my life. And there is different ways to put your opinion up, but that's just the words I choose to use."

The Urban Dictionary defines the phrase on Lanzo's sign as "a term used to describe a temporary fix or quick fix for an object using any tools at hand. Derived from the ingenuity of early African-Americans who did not have the means to fix every day objects and had to come up with these temporary fixes."

Lanzo told the CBS reporter that he was only trying to criticize current health care reform plans and denied being a racist. He pointed to the pictures of Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela on the walls of his restaurant and even pulled out a 2005 NAACP membership card.

Story continues below...

This is far from the first time, however, that Lanzo has been at the center of racial controversy. In August 2005, a local reporter went into his restaurant to ask about a sign saying, "Is Michael Jackson not guilty because he is a n****r or money?" and found that "pictures of Civil Rights leaders -- Frederick Douglass, MLK, Malcolm X, Nelson Mandela -- jostle for wall space with drawings of Ku Klux Klan rallies and racist caricatures from a century ago."

"The centerpiece, presiding over the bar, is a portrait of Jesse Jackson, and it takes a minute to realize the reason," the report continues. "Next to the painting is a cartoon of a black boy with a certain body part caught in a fence hole. 'Yep, old Jesse got his pecker caught, too, didn't he?' boomed Lanzo. ... He proudly displays the bar's menu, emblazoned on the front with a drawing of a Klansman in a hammock. The hammock is formed by two lynched black men whose feet are roped together."

Lanzo has also played host to both neo-Nazi and Klan rallies. According to one poster at a left-wing message board, "Pat Lanzo started making his location avaiable for Klan Rallys in the early to mid nineties as an act of revenge for being denied the license to turn his business into a strip joint."

  • As disgusting and vile as this guy is, and as outraged as I am about his lack of social consciousness, I still will defend until my death his right to say it. There's no way we can support free speech for SOME... it doesn't work. Freedom of speech dictates that this guy can voice his opinion, no matter how offensive to others, freely. It also dictates that I have the right to say he's a hatemongering douchebag.

wow, the whackos have emerged in full force since dick and bush and the rest of the good old boys got the hell out of town. united by war, greed, and a to-hell-with-you attitude. the house of cards has folded, the zombies and no-minds have nobody to bond with-except themselves. the mental carnage is horrible. no shame, no sense, nothing abiut them worth a damn. bad words, bad actions. bad nature. total LOSERS!
  • Yes, idiocy likes to parade itself. Pathetic asshole.

I really don't understand what the big deal is or for that matter why I should care,

That is the height of ignorance. There is a scripture that says that those who offend blacks because they are black will be blacker than they when the Lord's judgment comes. This man obviously does not know God who said that He made all men in his image and we are to love others as ourselves. If he does not know God he is doomed to Hell; do not be comforted in that, pray for his salvation. The over-comer wins all; we must have something to overcome to be an over-comer. God's law is, "Forgive and you shall be forgiven." If you do not forgive, you will stay angry (which helps no one) and you may do something stupid that puts you in Hell with company like this man.

It's stuff like this that keeps those north of the Mason/Dixon Line from taking southerners seriously. Why don't you folks get out there and police this racist crap yourself. Miller time hell, it's Molotov time.

Why don't you go into the areas that are dangerous? Because you believe what you condemn others for saying.

He's not racists but he's putting up racists signs and statements yea dude your soooooooo cleaver. The republican base is going crazy, truly crazy. As one poster put it we may never see a white male as president for a hundred years. If the republicans keep accepting individuals like this, they will lose even the token minorities they tote out to say (see where not racists). Speaking of race, Patrick LANZO!!!! He shouldn't be throwing out racial names with a name like that. Heck, somebody one day might make a billboard and say go get your organ grinder and monkey lanzo. If he can make fun of african americans, somebody will make fun of his Italian heritage and sterotype.
  • starvapor
Does anyone know if this Patrick Lanzo guy is flying a confederate flag in front of his bar?

  • starvapor
The fact that this guy put this on a sign in front of his bar and it's still there, says much more about the surrounding community enabling this in their midst than it does about the bar owner.

What is about the gene pool in the south? Surely, there are decent southerners, but how they can stand to live among the others is beyond me. Not to challenge this kind of behavior is to condone it. Shame on those that look the other way just as much as those that perpetrate it.
  • OldAtlantic
The more you have actual experience. Those with actual experience have written the same thing for centuries. They have also had to do the same things. Search Bureau of Justice Statistics "racial differences exist". They compile the same data. All police have the same experience that is why BJS compiles it.

And disclosing their natural ignorance is really winning over converts ...really swinging the swing voters. These people are pathetic. This is my parent's generation; they can't think, can't admit they were wrong about everything, or that they caused the economic collapse, and they can't apologize or shut up.

Those are the unifying characteristics of the GOP.
  • OldAtlantic
Your parent's generation came to their knowledge when it was allowed to observe what was before their faces. You don't go in those areas. Every race has to stay out of their areas, world wide. You are afraid to say what you act on it to keep alive.

What we are witnessing is a little, unimportant man screaming for attention in a little butt-fuck tow. He's too stupid to understand that he's a national laughingstock and so's his town.

I thought there was something called the Public Accommodations Act in which a public restaurant could not discriminate. Now, I know some, including Lanzo, would say that he does not discriminate, except I have to agree with Norquist Nemesis who noted that this person has probably succeeded in making it a whites only restaurant. If that is the case, I think a reasonable argument can be made that the front of his menu, which it just can't be so, depicts a Klansman resting in a hammock that is held up by the feet of 2 lynched men is the discriminatory act, as in creating an environment where some persons would not feel accommodated. I'm sorry this is just another incredible instance of where truth is stranger than fiction.
  • Can't you see what this guy is doing? He wanted to turn his business into a strip bar and his license request was denied. He figured that if they won't let him do what he wants, he's going to do something FAR more offensive than a strip club. He's going to continue ratcheting up the rhetoric and the KKK marches and rallies until the city gives in and grants him his strip club license.

It's obvious that what he's doing is wrong, but at least we can try to understand his real motives. He's just mad that he can't have his strip club. It's GOOD to own a strip club, if you know what I mean.

I just noticed, most of this thread is dedicated to the moron, or troll, OldAtlantic. How sad.

And it's all birther bullshit, which is all this fucktard (oops, he'll cry about me using the "tard" suffix) seems to post about.

Too bad Raw isn't still moderating some stuff. Idiots like this, and Fallaci Admirer were the reason moderation started in the first place. What a waste of bandwidth and time.
  • thepoliticalcat
Ah, yes, that idiot. He kept telling me something about President Obama's alleged corruption of the DoJ, as if *any*body could do to it what Shrubya did, and sending me to various links that didn't work. Around about after the fourth link, I realized he was trying to play me like Lucy plays Charlie Brown. What a useful fellow. NOT.
  • OldAtlantic
"In 2005, offending rates for blacks were more than 7 times higher than the rates for whites" BJS.
  • Cr0ft
I really find it extremely annoying when papers or web sites like this feel the need to disguise the very word we're talking about. Will it really end the world if you write "Anti-Obama sign in Georgia uses the word nigger" instead of "n-word"? Especially since, as th comedian Louis CK so astutely pointed out in his show, EVERYBODY who reads this goes "N-word? Oh right, they mean nigger" - so now the reader is the one saying it instead of the reporter. How is that any less objectionable, exactly?

It's a nasty hateful word, granted, but it's still a word. Surely the story is about the sign spreading hatred and racism, not what word they actually used. Sheesh.

Gotta love America, you can show graphic killing on TV, but heaven forfend that you be politically incorrect or show nudity.

You can have all kinds of pictures to support this person or that person but this guy showed his real colors. He is a racist. I had a wonderful relative that had a way of making a point with someone while joking instead of coming right to the point. I am a kind of person that comes right to the point without softballing the issue. While my relative was doing it while joking the some people don't get it and think he is joking. Hell I don't waste the time. I think it is better to get to the point. This man gets right to his point that he is a racist. While I don't like what he has to say he has that right but I have a right to tell my friends not to go there and spend your money to support his racist ways.
  • captainsteve
    Let's see the Birth Certificate!

Should we trust Obama and his online short-form B/C when he has hidden all his other documentation and long-form B/C, and lied about everything else? Here's a few of his lies.

    He said:

He was a moderate and would govern from the center.

No new taxes on anyone making less than $250K.

Cap-N-Trade would on cost the amount of a postage stamp per day.

    No more Washington as usual.

    No earmarks.

    No lobbyists in Cabinet.

He would keep track of the bailout money.

    No free health-care for illegals.

    No government funding for abortion.

Health-care debate to be broadcast on C-Span.

No programs enacted without having the funding (Pay-Go).

All new bills to be available for public review.

Didn't want to run car company.

Doctors remove kids tonsils just to make more money.

Enact policies to make world safer.

    He would not desert Israel.

He would get out of Iraq.

    He would close Gitmo.

He would do whatever it took to win in Afghanistan.

    He would get Bin Laden.

He said he barely knew William Ayers the domestic terrorist and pentagon bomber.

He said he wouldn’t prosecute the CIA agents re detainee treatment.

He would keep a balanced budget.

    No deficit spending.

    He would be bi-partisan.

Didn’t really know much about ACORN.

Wouldn't allow government funds to pay for abortions.

    Would stop illegal immigration.

    No government takeover of health-care.

    He would represent ALL Americans.

He also said he was born in Hawaii. Hmmm

Thanks, but I think it’s time to see the LONG-FORM birth certificate, and other records!!!!
