clinton blue Clinton: Vast right wing conspiracy now targeting ObamaThe "vast right-wing conspiracy" that targeted President Bill Clinton during his time in the Oval Office is now targeting President Barack Obama, but is less effective than it was in earlier times because the US's demographics have shifted, Clinton told NBC's Meet the Press Sunday.

Asked by host David Gregory if he believed the conspiracy had now shifted to Obama, Clinton said: "You bet. Sure it is. It's not as strong as it was because America has changed demographically but it's a virulent as it was."

Clinton stated that the Republican strategy against the president would yield nothing positive either for the Republicans, or for the United States.

"They may be hurting President Obama, they can take his numbers down, they can run his opposition up. But, fundamentally, he and his team have a positive agenda for America. Their [the Republicans'] agenda seems to be wanting him to fail. And that's not a prescription for a good America."

The notion of a "vast right-wing conspiracy" aimed at the president was first popularized by First Lady Hillary Clinton, who, while defending her husband during the Lewinsky scandal, said that the president was a victim of a "politically motivated" prosecutor allied with a "vast right-wing conspiracy."

Gregory asked the former president if he worried about "a repeat of 1994," when the Democrats lost control of Congress to the Republicans, forcing the president to follow a more moderate political course.

"There's no way they can make it that bad [for the Democrats]," Clinton replied. "Number one, the country is more diverse and more interested in positive action. Number two, [voters have] seen this movie before, because they've had eight years under President Bush, when the Republicans had the whole government and they know the results were bad. Number three, the Democrats haven't taken on the gun lobby like I did ... so whatever happens, it'll be manageable for the president."

This video is from NBC's Meet the Press, broadcast Sept. 27, 2009.

"Conspiracy is as common as pig tracks."

That piece of homespun enlightenment was expressed by Lyndon Johnson--I forget its context.

Conspiracy is defined thusly--A conspiracy is an agreement between two or more persons to commit an illegal act or to achieve a legal objective through illegal means. The essence of a conspiracy is the agreement; and the perceived harm is the increased danger from concerted action. (from answers.com)

Note that conspiracy requires agreement and an objective that causes damage or harm to others.

Now, no one believes that all right wingers have congregated in a place (virtual or otherwise) to hatch a plan to discredit Obama and thereby defeat the progressive agenda. But agreement can be tacit -- following the lead of the leaders -- and in this country, tacit agreements abound. They are, however, impossible to prosecute in a court of law.

Conspiracies do happen daily and on every level of life. People who have power want to preserve it because of its vast rewards...and they'll do anything, anything to accomplish that.

Why do you think we have human resource departments?
  • lorn
And to take your idea further, why is it not reasonable to assume that the nasty neocon warmongers would simply be content to pin all of their hopes and bet all of their resources on the Republican party exclusively?

Of course it would make far more sense to infiltrate and control the Democratic party too. Without doubt since the Clinton 90's this has been the case.

The conspiracy clearly put Obama in power as he is nothing like the guy who was sold during the election. This guy is Bush3 and has expanded most Bush crimes while our media confuse the issue and run cover and flak for Obama.

There is no democracy here, and the illusion is getting more tired and unbelievable with each passing day.

The question is not whether or not one wants power, it's what they want the power to do that makes it evil.

I have no problem with someone lusting for the "power" to make sure sick people can see a doctor or a high school student can start off with none of the advantages in life but still have a decent shot at being something more meaningful to them than a minimum wage laborer at Walmart.

If someone wants to have power for the sake of having power, then it's evil.

You shall know a man by the fruits of his labor. We just survived the most fruitless presidency in history, because unlike Clinton and Obama, George Bush wanted power for powers sake.

It's not hard to spot whether someone wants power to enrich himself or to ease the suffering and injustice in the world. You can pretty much tell by the R or the D next to their title. (And no...rich people having to pay taxes is not suffering or injustice...sorry!)

“Number one, the country is more diverse and more interested in positive action. Number two, [voters have] seen this movie before, because they’ve had eight years under President Bush, when the Republicans had the whole government and they know the results were bad. Number three, the Democrats haven’t taken on the gun lobby like I did … so whatever happens, it’ll be manageable for the president.”

Lol, the gun lobby, coming from a war monger like Bill Clinton. This piece of shit has been involved in conspiracies to wage war abroad at the expense of countless innocents all along.

I guess Obombya better watch out then, because there's a growing left wing population that is going to shut the lying fucking war pig down if he doesn't stop behaving like Bush and Clinton.

Americans aren't as naive as they were in the pre-Internet era.
It's easier to see the rightwing billionaires pull the strings of the "puppet pundits" who pretend they are just regular folks who are fed up with blah blah blah

And if they play their role well enough, long enough, they become billionaires themselves, like Rush Hudson Limbaugh III.
Convince the average American to vote against his own interests and support the big corporations as they bribe, steal and cheat, and you will be rewarded.

President Clinton is telling the truth that an organized effort to manipulate the country is housed in the PR companies and front groups that covertly pose as grass-roots organizations with false Christian morals and a long term 'greed is good ' corporatist agenda. It's never out in the open because there is no law ( like the open to the public Union organizing efforts) that disallows domestic anti-american activities to profit in Washington or Wall street. The collaboration can be described as Vast. That it belongs to the extreme Right Wing is indisputable and a Conspiracy because as Michael Moore is describing the 1%er's can only maintain their perch above the wealth pyramid by controlling the national media and defining its talking points.

8 more years just like the last 8?
Gates speaks as if he is a Cheney clone.
Judeofascists loved promoting their "Islamofascism" propaganda.
    Carrots(bribery) Sticks(murder) Coercive Diplomacy(extortion & blackmail).

Did you see all the same bloodthirsty AIPAC-paid recycled neocon shills on TV selling more war for profit?

Watch as they pretend to know nothing of the mounting 9/11 evidence, whistleblowers, & leaks that point to them

The “vast right-wing conspiracy” that targeted President Bill Clinton during his time in the Oval Office is now targeting President Barack Obama...

That's right,,,, because as everyone knows,, Bill Clinton was the actual first black president.
  • imo; bubba has no credibility at all. he should slither back under the coat tails of papa shrub where he belongs. he is part of the problem. he is part of THEIR club. there is not much difference between a neocon, and a neolib.
  • brucefromoakharbor
Good Clinton comedy. Dems control House, Senate and executive, therefore all failures can be attributed to vast, right wing conspiracy. Slick Willie ain't changed a bit.

The only "vast conspiracy" that exists on this planet is ages and ages old, as long as the concept of wealth itself.
People with vast accumulations of this wealth have conspired together to keep said wealth unto themselves. That is the purpose of the Federal Reserve. That is the purpose of the European Central Bank, and that is the purpose of the Bank of England. Any conspiracy worth it's salt takes the shape of a pyramid. This protects the kings and queens while the pawns get chewed up and spit out. True, several other "micro-conspiracies" have been formulated in order to keep the useless eaters unaware that the aristocracy still exists, and guess what....
    You ain't apart of it.
  • joe
"it’s a virulent as it was." come on, i doubt that Clinton used "virulent" as a noun... RS needs a real editor if people are going to take them seriously...

HILLARY CLINTON QUOTE (4/29/2003 Connecticut Fundraiser):

"I'm sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you're NOT PATRIOTIC. We need to STAND UP and say we're Americans, and we have the RIGHT TO DEBATE and DISAGREE with ANY administration."
  • Adam from Tampa
It never stops with you turds. You wanna talk conspiracy? What is MoveOn, or Media Matters? Who is John Podesta? Or George Soros?

How is Rush part of this "vast right-wing conspiracy?" What corporations are in his pocket? This is so ridiculous. You clowns make up these conspiracy theories as a way to identify an enemy, i.e. corporate America. It sounds a lot better than attacking the individuals who actually build businesses from the ground up. You would have people believe that their goal is to enslave the masses and soak every last dollar. Problem with that is that anyone can do it. Anyone (who's not disabled, of course) can work hard, start a business, gain wealth. You people hate that, and you want it to stop. Your childish Utopian dreams will never be realized. Grow up.
  • 7324834
Yeah but Obama's black. That's reason enough for a lot of the Republicreeps to fight every thing he does. Also, virulent as right wing radio and tv was back then, I'm not aware that you had these blowhards actively trying to get Clinton assassinated as they are now with Obama. It's scary.
  • 7324834
Oh yes, Adam from Tampa there is a vast rightwing conspiracy. Regarding Bill Clinton, have you seen the video, "The Hunting of the President"?

"You would have people believe that their goal is to enslave the masses and soak every last dollar. Problem with that is that anyone can do it. Anyone (who's not disabled, of course) can work hard, start a business, gain wealth."

Interesting, you equate enslaving the masses and soaking every last dollar with hard work, starting a business and gaining wealth. So you see the former as positive things hmmm? No doubt you'd be a shitty boss to work for.

P.S. as for Limbaugh, he's a lier for hire by the likes of R.J. Reynolds and Philip Morris.
