Hillary ClintonWASHINGTON — US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sunday defended the decision to try five alleged plotters of the 9/11 attacks in a New York civilian court, saying it is "appropriate" they face justice there.

Families of the victims have expressed fears about bringing suspects, including alleged September 11, 2001 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, to US soil and trying them in a federal court with the same constitutional rights as US citizens.

But Clinton said Attorney General Eric Holder's decision on Friday should be respected and would not have been made unless the authorities were absolutely sure New York could handle the security challenges posed by the trial.

"All believe that New York City not only can handle this, but that it is appropriate to go forward in the very area where these people launched this horrific attack against us," Clinton told "Meet the Press" on NBC news.

"I was a Senator from New York, and I want to see them brought to justice. The most important thing for me is that you know, they pay the ultimate price for what they did to us on 9/11.

"And if the attorney general and veteran prosecutors think this is the best way to achieve that outcome then I think that they should be given the right to move forward as they see appropriate."

President Barack Obama's political foes warn the decision will harm efforts to combat terrorism and say the men should be tried in military commissions, seen by many relatives of the victims as the safer, tougher option.

Former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani lambasted the decision as an "unnecessary risk" to New York's security that would give the accused unwarranted advantage of having civilian rights.

"It's an unnecessary advantage to give to the terrorists," Giuliani told CNN. "It's an unnecessary risk to the city of New York, which already has any number of risks."

Clinton earlier admitted that the decision was fraught with difficulties, but was adamant it was the right thing to do.

"Obviously, it's a very painful experience for families to have to go through," said Clinton. "That is something that you know, pains me."

"But we are a nation of laws. And we have two different venues for holding these people accountable -- the military commissions and our federal courts.

"And the individual decisions that the Justice Department and the Defense Department have made along with the advice of veteran prosecutors, I think should be respected."

I was raised on Dr. Dobson, and have just sent him a letter requesting his assistance to help me stop loosing faith in the Christian Church. My Mom respects Dr. Dobson as much or more than any other Christian leader, and she is interested to see his response. I only started learning the truth about the 9/11 attacks last fall. It took me an entire year to convince my own parents to listen to me, and begin reviewing the evidence for themselves. Now that they have thoroughly and objectively taken a fresh look into all the available evidence, they too are now aware of how badly we have been deceived. They now fully support my mission to find out what really happened to 2,993 of our fellow countrymen that fateful September morning. My mom is very interested to see if/how Dr. Dobson will respond. Please read my open letter to Dr. Dobson and share your thoughts at.........

Good opportunity for basic Core Fiction Maintenance. http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com
Will there be anyone protesting in the streets with signs that read "9/11 Truth Now?"

I doubt it. They only believe what they are told to believe.I have no idea exactly what happened on 911 but I do know what is accepted as facts is a crock of LIES.

Get the Don Henley album called "Inside Job" and listen to the track "Inside Job." Yours truly was swept into this by an obscene and blasphemous Public Access show I did in Seattle called "The Psychosexual Conspiracy," which basically exposed Freemasonry and the fluidity of language to veil/expose any given human behavior. The basic "conspiracy" is that if you smell feces (shit) on someone's breath, it is likely that they have had shit in their mouth. More than that, the behavior induces physical weakening of the immune system as found in AIDS patients. Although some see it as a badge of valor to perform and keep silent. There is no "science" to quantify this element. It is the foundation of Masonic Justice and Secret Law. EAT IT. No, thank you. Then blame ME for 9/11. Those "Veterans who have Sacrificed their Lives" and have gone through Basic Training get EXTREMELY angry at the truth that their life, health, and freedom has been lost in VAIN.

Hmmm . . . tried by Americans; judged by Americans; sentenced by Americans. And all withing sight of the buildings they plotted to destroy. Sounds like American justice to me.
  • BAC520
You sound like the American tough guy to me. Are you some kind of tough guy? You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!! You are "Jamming" the truth.
  • jamminjohn
What? You got a problem with Americans judging terrorists? You'd rather have faux news do it? I guess subjecting them to constant rants by beck or palin would serve the same purpose. Go buy a book.

Basic gist of my comment is this.....those five are most likely complicit in the attacks and should be found guilty, yes, by Americans. But there is a completely underserved other side of the attacks/explosions from the US/Israeli side. My theory is a complicity between multiple governments/agencies. Saying "these are the only guilty terrorists" ignores the others, even on the US side, who assisted in the explosions.
  • jamminjohn
Ahh, the old conspiracy thing. A conspiracy requires more than one person, and the only way two people can keep a secret is if one of them is dead. No doubt mistakes were made, but the ones who plotted and planned will, hopefully, get what's coming to them.
