Liz Cheney: Peace Prize should be dedicated to US military

Liz Cheney, daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, told Fox News' Chris Wallace that President Barack Obama should not travel to Oslo in December to accept the Nobel Prize. Cheney called the prize a "farce" that could only be legitimized if the family of a US military member accepted it.

"I think the president himself understands he didn't earn this prize and therefore the notion that this White House has said he would go to Oslo to accept the prize would add to the farce," said Cheney.

She offered the following proposal: "I think what he ought to do, frankly, is send the mother of a fallen American soldier to accept the prize on behalf of the US military. Frankly, to send the message to remind the Nobel committee that each one of them sleeps soundly at night because the US armed forces, because the US military is the greatest peacekeeping force in the world today."

It should come as no surprise that neoconservative columnist Bill Kristol disagrees with the Nobel committee. He responded to the award with sarcasm.

"It's hard for me to be objective about this because I'm so disappointed personally," he said. "I was up early Friday morning. I thought the phone might ring, you know. Pundits for peace. I deserve it pretty much. President Obama and I have done about the same amount to bring about world peace, I think."

Except your dad was a fucking minion of satan. The soldiers never meant dick to yer daddy, except as they could do the actual work involved in his successful plot to loot TWO countries. Your daddy dick, remember, was too goddamned busy doing "more important things" than to actually _be_ in the military. Kinda' like Saddam, he worked behind the scenes, helping himself where he could. Why don't you just go on back to Gooberville and spend the rest of your life trying to wash the blood of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children off your family name?
Don't think about the Nobel Peace Prize, Liz. Cheneys have lost the right to utter the word "peace". Instead, try learning to read, and then dig into the Constitution of the U.S. There a bunch of big words, and bigger ideas, that you and your ilk need, at long last, try to understand.

Yep you are right on brother. Cheney,Bush, and Rummy all should have ajoining cells. These people are traitors that cause thousands of deaths in Iraq. This bitch has nerve to talk about military families. Do you really think these people respect them? Hell no, not in a million years. I come from a long of service men who retired from the military and they think both Bush I and especially Bush II are nothing but traitors not thinking once about the people they sent to their deaths because they wanted their oil buddies to make money. I could see in the beginning going to Afganstian because that was were Ben Laudin was. But almost 9 years I'd say it is time to get our soldiers home. Liz if you feel so strong why don't you get your fat ass on a plane and fight in the war.

Honestly, you have to logically admit this, did Obama deserve the Nobel Peace Prize? No. Not yet, anyways, who knows, he could bring a peaceful end to war eventually. If he does something to deserve it, sure, give it to him. But what the hell has he done?
Ragging on Cheney is not the way to get out your obvious disdain for the Republican Party and/or the Bush administration. You just come across as a bit spiteful. I think too many people placed all of the world's problems on Bush, who didn't make the best decisions all the time but wasn't "El Diablo," my goodness.
I was never for the war in the first place, but now that we're in we can't just pull out. The people in the Middle East still need aid stabilizing government, and Iran has just proven that they have nuclear weapon capability. Or do you think they're just going to have a big fireworks show?
Liz Cheney should probably have stopped after her first sentence. Who I think should have won the Nobel Peace Prize is someone working towards peace nonviolently, who is an example to everyone that you can't fight fire with fire and expect no innocent lives to be taken. Not someone who has only made promises he has yet to keep.

Obama wants to Surge in Afghanistan ie expand the war. How can Obama get a Peace prize for expanding a war when Sheehan who has been against it through two administrations is passed over.

Liz Cheney needs to shut up, just being the daughter of Dick precludes her from the trust or respect of people with any intelligence. How did she become a 'political expert' anyway? Being in the Cheney family makes her an expert on treason, immoral and unethical behavior and that is about it.

As for BO, at least GW had respect for freedom of speach and said so on many occasions when asked about the news media viscerating him (especially msnbc...).

So Barack Obama doesn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize even though countries are discussing decreasing nuclear weapons...while she thinks we were kept safe and gained information via torture under dick cheney ? Her assumptions are completely opposite and obviously wrong. We were attacked under cheney's rule and it has been shown that info was gained before torture was administered. Wow..instead of accepting a prize he has acknowledged he doesn't yet deserve, he should send the grieving family of someone who died in a war her father prosecuted without provocation. Is that what she said? And that makes sense to who?

wait!!!! Okay, perhaps she's not understanding the word "peace" in Nobel Peace Prize. Maybe she thinks it's a word that means "war" or "kill" or "treasonously outing a CIA operative during a time of war in violation of 2381 of the treason laws which is punishable by death".
