Savings..What world is he living in. Those jobs went overseas thanks to congress..
Where do I start…..
Those that have still have jobs might welcome this move IF it actually helped them provide for their retirement.
The follow up studies on various IRA vehicles show that this system is a failure. Because the markets are so poorly regulated and subject to whim, workers end up losing money instead insuring a comfortable retirement.
Is there any discredited policy that Obama doesn’t want to dump more more good money after bad into?
I’d like to see more details, but what I’m reading here sounds very good.
F’king bastard! Just what does he think he is doing?! Effing Commie!!!
This is like closing the barn door after all the horses have broken out or locking the bank vault door after all the money inside has been stolen.
This is just another trick by conservatives to phase out Social Security.
Just think, a 3 percent increase today in payroll tax deductions for Social Security would easily extend Social Security into the 22nd century (adding even more money to the Social Security surplus), while increasing monthly Social Security re-payments to senior citizens today, helping many American citizens, Republican, Democrat, or Independent, during the duration of this conservative-spawned recession.
401(k)s were created during the Reagan years, ostensibly meant to supplement Social Security, but actually meant to eventually replace government-backed Social Security with private accounts run by for-profit Wall Street brokers, but subject to the vagaries of the stock market (as many have seen to their much regret recently).
I thought there was going to be a new sheriff in town with the election of President Barack Obama, but it’s beginning to look like more and more of the same bankrupt and bankrupting carried-over Bush/Cheney conservative policies.
More BS. First off you have to have a job. I don’t know how the other parts of the country are, but California is in a depression. Some say it is close to 50% unemployment. Retirement as well as health care is the last thing on many Californian’s minds. Most are worried about the present. They can’t find a job or are afraid they will lose their current employment. Many dare not to think about their mortgages. And now that the dollar is tanking, those with low paying jobs are wondering just how far their paycheck will go.This administration as well as congress are looking out for no one but themselves and their corporate puppet masters. Change, what change? I will no longer vote for any incumbent. Every last one of them needs to go, regardless of party.
