Orszag: Health care reform by August, despite efforts to kill it

White House Budget Director Peter Orszag says health care reform will pass by August, despite the efforts of some in Congress to kill it through delays.
Orszag told Fox News’ Chris Wallace that he expects the House and Senate to pass health care reform bills by the summer recess.
“I think the chances are high,” said Orszag.
Orszag reinforced a deadline for health care reform that President Barack Obama had been insisting on until recent days, when the president appeared to take a softer stance on health care reform deadlines.
Speaking to CNN’s John King on Sunday, Orszag said the president hadn’t given up on the deadline — but some members of Congress are trying to slow down the process in an attempt to kill health care reform.
“The typical Washington bureaucratic game of — ‘if you don’t have a better alternative, just delay in the hope that that kills something’ is partly what’s playing out here,” said Orszag.
Think Progress noted that GOP consultant Alex Castellanos suggested “if we slow this sausage-making process down, we can defeat it.”

Dying people don’t matter. Healthcare is like having your nails done. It just pretties you up. It don’t really matter. Does it?
If its just compulsory Mitt Romney care, don’t bother. More captive “customers” for the medical/drug/insurance monopoly.
And this is already looking bad.. Obama isn’t getting concessions from these groups. It looks like he’s not trying real hard either.
Even if there is a “public option” it won’t help a bit if they game it to the point it actually drives people into private insurance and works for the monopolists. Just the mere inclusion isn’t enough. It has to be priced in such a manner as to TAKE MONEY OUT of their three way money orgy. That’s the whole problem, doncha know. Health care costs too much.
Even the insurance companies know something has to give or they’re on the hook for all the boomers care with no one left to pay for it.

Be aware that on EVERY blog and forum, there are going to be industry (health insurance companies and pharmas) people masquerading as ordinary people.
These people are pigs.
They are the ones that will cast a shadow of doubt on everything Obama wants to do. They are the ones that will say “Without single payer, nothing is acceptable.”
Don’t believe these walking, talking sacks of s**t. They get paid to dash your hopes.
The plain truth is: Unless there is reform, within 8 years, the USA will be clinically dead. The average middle-class person will spend half of their income on insurance companies. The economy of the US will die because this is not sustainable.
The public option is coming. It is GOING TO HAPPEN. Once that is in place, single-payer is the next step.

This is a battle for the life of insurance companies, who are truly in their last throes. They are going to lose this one because their paradigm is not sustainable. Lower/middle classes cannot afford to spend half their income on insurance. The USA will die in 8 years if this paradigm is not destroyed.
The insurance industry is now targeting all workers who have good, solid healthcare benefits. They are planning on shifting costs to workers, in the form of much higher deductibles, higher copays, and higher everything.
They will lose. It’s over, and it’s only a matter of time. So go ahead and spread your fear of change, spread your woe-is-us bullcrap: It’s over.

I am a business owner who is not even remotely connected to pharma, medicine or insurance.

I hope Obama calls for a big showdown, including rallies of ordinary citizens in Washington. He hasn’t played any of his aces yet, one being: “Hey, 72% of Americans want a public option. My pro public option posts on Craiglist today were flagged faster than I could post them. The health care lobby must have paid for an army of flaggers. The reason they want delay is so they can distribute another $50 million in payoffs, false advertising, and propaganda. If you would like to tell the Blue Dogs how much you appreciate their blocking your health care while allowing you to go on paying for theirs they can be reached at bluedog@mail.house.gov there is also a list of all 63 of the blue dogshits so you can remember them on the ballot next year.
