Suspect puts drugs in his mouth; cop breaks his neck

A 42-year-old Louisiana man has died, apparently of a broken neck, after being pulled over by a police deputy.
A dash cam video shows Deputy Chris Sturdivant of the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office with his arms around Adam Stogner’s neck after the officer suspected the man of putting a small quantity of drugs into his mouth.
Stogner died along Interstate 12. Preliminary results from the coroner show that Stogner died from “severe coronary artery disease, an enlarged heart, and a fracture of the hyoid bone in his neck.”
According to CBS affiliate WAFB, the sheriff’s office says Stogner did not put his truck in park when he was pulled over. This may have led the officer to believe Stogner was planning to flee the scene. And the deputy believed Stogner was impaired.

Instead of being charged, tried and convicted of murder, which is what should happen to this thuggish criminal with a badge, he’ll probably be exonerated and given a medal.
Today’s law enforcement are little better than contemporary brownshirts. The only thing they deserve is for the public to watch them like a hawk, have video cameras always present and hope you’re not in the crosshairs of these punk ass dimwitted bastards.
Someone should contact the local ACLU, I don’t think they acted within the laws, federal if not state. I thought when they kicked in that Northern mayors house and killed his dogs by mistake, that the obvious outcome would start a conversation about “protecting and serving” versus “bustem’ or killem”.
I miss so many wonderful things about my home state of Louisiana, but law-enforcement run-amok, isn’t one of them. Usually law-enforcement reflects on the people it serves, but in the case of the state of Louisiana, on so many different levels, she aint like no other place, and the natives are like no others. Northern Louisiana is like east-Dallas, bible belt red-necky, but central and on down is steeped in warm and fuzzy tradition, and if their law-enforcement people reflected that behavior, what a wonderful world that would be.

This is one of the many negative results the BS “war on drugs” has done under the pretext of “saving” people–a cop breaking a citizen’s neck.
Recall how our representatives originally justified launching this BS drug war 30-plus years ago–that the use of “some” drugs threatened our national security because addiction to these drugs would tear families apart–that the strength of America was due to the strength of the family unit? Yeah, right. You don’t hear much about families being torn apart by these drugs anymore because the reality is that it is the enforcement of draconean drug laws that has caused far more sorrow and destruction of families than any of these “illegal” drugs ever could .
I am to the point that I do not trust law enforcement anymore. I think all of us should “arm” ourselves with the necessary equipment to ensure videos are taken whenever one has an encounter with the cops. It is unfortunate, but we have come to the point where we must protect ourselves from them.
Trust no cop ever. Hide your stash before you get pulled over and never, ever, give these thugs any shi_! because they don’t care if they kill you. Apparently all police brutality is justified in the post-Apocalypse society the Bushites have left us.

So if his truck was not in park, why didn’t it roll away when he got out with his hands up? Or when he was thrown on the hood of the police car? Or when he was thrown to the ground and murdered?

The video Raw has here doesn’t show everything because it’s being presented piecemeal as part of a Faux “news” story.
I just viewed the entire incident videoed from the cop’s car over at Huffpo, and at the very beginning of the video it is obvious that the guy did put his vehicle in the park position. Go there and view the video at the beginning. So the sheriff’s office is flat out lying by saying that the victim did not put his truck into the park when he was pulled over. Also, true to Faux reporting, the video in this article does not show the other officers at the scene. Warning: The cam recording from the cop’s car is very disturbing to watch.
Oh, and one more thing: The cop’s cam recording was obviously edited because approximately 2 minutes are missing from that video. What’s the sheriff’s office hiding by editing out the 2 minutes?

Spot on edward and savntster,spot on. The coroner was trying to help the cop out by saying he had an enlarged heart, clogged arteries and oh yea a fatal broken neck. These idiots don’t even realize (judges, lawyers etc. etc.) the world they are making by having a justice system that is lawless and corrupt. People will eventually start to seek revenge on the local police and court when justice isn’t doled out even to the cop in the future.

While I agree that law enforcement has totally run amuck all over the USA, you have to understand that the local state and federal government in Louisiana is bought and paid for by the Big Oil petrocriminals, and the cops act as a death squad as used to be in sponsored by the CIA in central American countries. Exxon Mobil, Haliburton, ect all Bush/Cheney run corporations, run the government no questions asked. It is virtually a police state run by big oil. When I was there, helping after Katrina, the locals were afraid to talk to me or even stand near my pickup truck because I had a small Amnesty International sticker on the back window. One whispered to me in private, to get that sticker off my truck before I ended up dead along the road somewhere. Maybe this guy was an amnesty international contributor or maybe even the ACLU or he might have been seen talking to a union man. Anyway, it’s one less coon ass, and the cop will get a promotion. The coroner will call it a natural death or accidental at the most. Guaranteed! Louisiana cops make Texass look like good clean fun.

The cops are thugs … this kind of story is so common that it proves there has been a fundamental breakdown in law enforcement across the board. These corrupt officers are more of a threat to the population than so called criminals. Has it come to the point where people have to arm themselves against being murdered by the police? We have to start video tapping all of their activities … every time they detain someone. Even then they seem to get away with murder. So does a person have the right to protect themselves or not? If not then we do not have a free country we are living in a tyranny.

The guy was a known meth head, so that’s probably what he shoved in his mouth. Could have been enough to cause a heart attack. So pot is not involved as far as I know. Still, the deputy was waaay out of line.
It should have been abundantly obvious to this cop that this guy was NOT going to ’spit it out.’ At that point, he and his buddies could very easily have slapped the cuffs on him, thrown him in the back of the car, and brought him to the station, leaving the only two places for this guy to ’spit it out’: the car, or the station.
If he swallowed the bag, he simply would have ’shit it out’, and the cops would have their evidence. Chances are great that whatever he swallowed was wrapped in paper, plastic or tin foil, none of which is digestible. Jesus H. Christ in a wheelchair - can it be any simplier than that?

If his truck wasn’t put in park, why was it sitting there throughout the entire video? Isn’t that the guy’s truck in the video? MORE bullshit lies! How stupid do they think the people are? Seriously! First of all, this happened in the heart of the Florida Parishes, not many coon asses here, just rednecks. The esteemed coroner of Livingston Parish, Ron Coe says the hyoid bone was only fractured, really. The coroners report should be out any day. In any case, I do not believe that the Sheriff intended to kill the guy, but they should be more careful.
More cops like this need to go to prison.
To teach them a lesson.
To give their colleagues something to think about.
To restore public trust in the police who are not in prison.
The police are not SUPPOSED to be above the law. As things stand, they need to be taken down a peg.
