Times: Cheney gave order to conceal secret CIA program

In an exclusive report, the New York Times revealed on Saturday that the order to conceal a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years came directly from former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Even current CIA Director Leon Panetta did not learn of the program until June 23, more than four months after he took over running the agency. He informed both Congressional intelligence committees the next day.
The Times report came on the same day that former CIA Director Michael Hayden was insisting, in an interview with the Associated Press, that Congressional leaders had been kept consistently informed of the Bush administration’s surveillance programs.
“”One of the points I had in every one of the briefings was to make sure they understood the scope of our activity,” Hayden told the AP. “At the political level this had support.”
According to the AP, Hayden asserted that senior members of the intelligence committees were briefed about four times a year, other Congressional leaders more occasionally, “and he said the meetings nearly always occurred at the White House, with Vice President Dick Cheney in attendance.”
Cheney’s involvement is further underscored by the the inspector general’s report released on Friday, which shows that the vice president’s office played a central role in limiting awareness of the National Security Agency’s program of warrantless wiretapping to just a handful of officials. Even then-Attorney General John Ashcroft did not receive an accurate description of one program until two years after he had certified it as legal.

In a word, this is what congress will do about Cheney’s crimes.
Nothing.
There is but one cure for what ails Dick Cheney……..hanging by the neck until dead.
We all know that. But we still want those missing missiles back you paranoid prick.

Perhaps the missing missiles are what Mr. Cheney plans on using in the “next” terrorist attack. The next terrorist attack on american soil, like the last, will be at the time and place of Dick Cheney’s choosing.
Speaker Pelosi and other Dems are involved and knew of Cheney’s crimes so as Pelosi always says ” Impeachment and Treason is off the table”. With this and other crimes of Treason gone unpunished it will happen again in the future.
They murdered at least one Allied Military official, remember when cheney sent his hit team to assassinate that journalist in Italy and the Italian Secret Service officer threw himself over her, sacrificing himself to save her life?

This is how you create a secret government within the government which is not answerable to Congress. And this secret government, which is Dick Cheney, directs the CIA and NSA to his own agenda.
If the Vice President lies about what a law does to get it certified legal by the Attorney General, is the law still legal? if not, does our Congress even care?

This does explain some of Cheney’s recent actions trying to get the Democrats to leave the issues alone by his press onslaught. My concern is that Obama and the Democratic leadership want to evaluate this in with the lens of political expediency. It is time for justice not expediency; it is time to show the world that we take rule of law as a way of life not a slogan. If we don’t we have no right to arrest and try anyone for smoking crack or stealing a car, we have no right to insist our children don’t lie cheat and steal their way through life, we have no right to desire a life without chaos. We cannot have societal constraints of a system of law only applying to the poor and only when convenient for the ruling class each and everyone must demand that the allegations be investigated, and if evidence exists that the violators be prosecuted without regard for their social, financial or political status.
This information would lend credence to the feeling that David Kelly, who supposedly committed suicide in England, was actually assassinated by a shadow group who would have done anything to keep him from stating publicly that there were no WMDS in Iraq and that our reasons for going to war were completely bogus.
