‘C Street’ group tied to Ensign is linked to yet another secretive group

The powerful and secretive group known as the Fellowship Foundation or the “Family” is quickly gaining notoriety, due to its links to two scandal-plagued Republicans, Senator John Ensign of Nevada and Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina.
According to the Washington Post, however, the Fellowship Foundation is itself linked to an even more secretive religious organization — Youth With a Mission (YWAM), whose Washington, DC branch owns the “C Street House” where Ensign has lived and where Sanford has participated in Bible study.
A diarist at Daily Kos points out that “YWAM founder leader Loren Cunningham has publicly outlined a vision for Christian world-control,” which involves establishing domination over government, education, business, the media, and other areas.
The last time YWAM came to notice was in 2006, when Loren Cunningham’s son, David Cunningham, gained attention as the director of ABC’s bitterly anti-Clinton “docudrama,” The Path to 9/11. According to Talking Points Memo, the younger Cunningham’s ties to YWAM were discovered by Digby and discussed at length on both Daily Kos and Democratic Underground.
Cunningham was found to be particularly involved in a YWAM offshoot known as The Film Institute, whose goal is to place its graduates “within the film industry, not to give them jobs, but so that they can begin to impact and transform Hollywood from the inside out.”
Dave Neiwert, a dedicated student of extremist groups, brought together a variety of items relating to YWAM’s aims for worldly domination, commenting that what he found especially interesting was “the way these supposedly forthright Christians are now busy covering the tracks connecting them to The Path to 9/11. All this snooping is obviously making them nervous.”
YWAM has also been accused of having cult-like tendencies, which were detailed at length in an article published in 1990 that described both the brainwashing-like techniques employed in its Discipleship Training Schools and its financial exploitation of its recruits.
In 2006, a poster at a Catholic message board noted with alarm that YWAM appeared to be attempting to infiltrate Catholic Churches in Europe and Africa by setting up Discipleship Training Schools.
“YWAM Has been under investigation as a possible cult,” the poster wrote. “Several complaints have been filed with the San Francisco City Hall Mayor’s Office regarding YWAM ‘missionaries’ harassment of homeless Catholics and Gays. On several occasions homeless Catholics were not allowed to pray their rosaries at the YWAM mission because YWAMers believe that the rosary is idol worship. One YWAMer even threatened to throw a homeless man’s rosary into the garbage simply because she saw it lying on the couch. On another occasion a homeless man who happened to be Gay was told by several YWAMers that he should ‘come to Jesus because Jesus will make you straight’. They continued to do this even after he repeatedly stated that he did not want to be made straight.”

Ya know, a fellow would HAVE TO BE FORGIVEN for thinking that it was wildly wealthy corporate interests that have dominated.. To the utter dissatisfaction of average-joe Christians, average-joe Atheists, the poor and damn near everyone else!
Ya know! Come to think of it, there IS a quasi-religious group that has prospered lately! They can be found at the center of every scandal and corruption with alarming regularity, and despite the fact that they are only 2% of the US population.

we have been having some fun researching this ‘cult’.

You add up those fucking low power christer radio stations all across the land that broadcast around 88.3 just to interfere with the FM transmitters in Sirius-XM radios AND the blow torch signals AND the christer TV stations, WorldNet News, FAUX NEWS, FAUX affiliates,Gannet newspapers,Clear Channel: ALL in sync at a snap of the fingers.
I heard of The Family, an author of the book “The Family” was on TV or radio long ago, and I wanted to read it but never got around to doing so… but I’ve seen him twice on Rachel Maddow’s show this week, in connection to the C-Street thingy, and now I wanna pick it up again. I’ll have to do that tomorrow.
From what I heard, they love to assert the power and influence in the political world that they control is theirs by divine right, and in many ways reminds me of the Nazi school narrative in the Disney cartoon “Hitler’s Children”, where they’re told a story of a defenseless rabbit eaten by a wolf, and the the kid that felt bad for the rabbit said “poor rabbit” and was forced to put the dunce cap on, meanwhile the right answer given by other students was that “the world belongs to the strong… and to the brutal… the rabbit is a coward and deserves to die… spit on the rabbit “

I am a news junky & a policy wonk & I’ve seen this a great deal in many different areas. The right-wing has a long-term plan in infiltrate all areas of government & media to “Christianize” as well as generally shift the country toward right-wing thinking. Its not that secret really.
Its like a grand brainwashing scheme, starting with people as children, all the way thru their education, then placing them in industry & government.
I’ve lived in the bible belt for nearly all of my life & its very scary stuff. Some of my best friends have been involved & I feel terrible for them, but you can’t reason with these people, they are brainwashed.

Time for the IRS to reign in the Professional Religious Elite, who are currently shielded from taxation for some perverse reason. Either that, or each and every US citizen should declare themselves to be “churches” and exempt from personal taxation.
The members of Congress who live in the C Street mansion (oops…”church”) are all paying less than fair market value for the privilege. They are tax cheats, no less than the cult itself is.

In the literary industry this is known as an understatement, sort of like saying that a rabid dog has unfriendly tendencies. I read about this group first when Hillary Clinton was running for president and someone was discussing her involvement in this group. At the time I was horrified that anyone would take them seriously at their word that they were actually trying to make the world a better place. It was obvious at the time even then that they were only interested in putting a theocracy in place.
Gee, I sure hope someone asks Sarah Palin for her take on this.
