Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her home Friday morning. Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor’s Picnic at the end of the month.
Palin announced that she will transfer power to Lt. Governor Sean Parnell. Parnell will be sworn in during the upcoming governor’s picnic in Fairbanks on July 25. An emotionally choked-up Parnell said he plans to keep all state commissioners and continue to pursue a natural gas pipeline.
CNN reports that Palin will quit in a month as well.
Gov. Sarah Palin announced Friday that she will step down as Alaska’s chief executive by the end of the month. She will not seek election to a second gubernatorial term in 2010.
Palin, a Republican, was elected governor in 2006. She was tapped as Arizona Sen. John McCain’s vice presidential running mate last year and is considered to be a frontrunner for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination.
Palin will be succeeded by Alaska Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell.

SOMETHING ELSE IS GOING ON HERE
This is gonna be Funny. Especially after that OPERA the Conservatives tried to sing ‘ PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN FROM LETTERMAN’ crap.
BTW, where are all the Conservative Teabaggers??
She actually helps out blonds….
What would Sarah do if she got that 3 AM call? Answer: Quit!
Again…let’s think about this…..who energizes the (shrinking) Republican base? Sarah Palin. Their only short-term hope is to get her out there campaigning for congressional spots and drawing crowds of regular (hicks)…The mainstream R party knows that Barrack not only beat them once - he has serious numbers on his side. Their folks are getting old and dying - his are young.
Barrack not only beat them once - he has serious numbers on his side.
———————————–
Savior Obama has serious numbers on his side? You haven’t been paying attention.
The problem with your statement is that in order to get REAL progressives in office (like Kucinich, Nader or McKinney), you actually HAVE TO VOTE FOR THEM and you need to get out of this rut mentality that it must be between the Ds and the Rs. It’s your mentality that got us where we are in the first place.
This nation needs to remove itself from these corporate whore, war criminal politicians. Forget about the so-called “competition,” and instead focus on REAL progressive candidates such as the three I listed above.
Also, savior and War Criminal Obama’s poll numbers are dropping quickly because like all presidents before him, he is also a corporate president (as well as a War Criminal and Bush accomplice, he still has the USA Patriot Act which shreds the US Constitution, he’s continuing illegal spying, continuing rendition, continuing “black sites” around the world where torture takes place, continuing two illegal wars/occupations, etc). He’s a War Criminal. Attacked Pakistan and killed innocent people there as soon as he parked in the White House. Two days ago he ordered the Marines to do MORE killing in Afghanistan. “Change we can believe in.”
Do you really want to campaign for a corporate War Criminal candidate just because they have a big D behind their name?
Shouldn’t The People be putting the US Constitution ABOVE party-line for a fuking change?
Your logic is that the liberals will not vote for Obama and vote for a wingnut republican? Are you smoking wacky weed?
If your comment is addressed to me, I have no doubt that the so-called “liberals” will indeed, once again, vote for War Criminal and savior Obama and any other so-called “Dems” regardless of their voting record.
I live under no illusion that any so-called “liberal” will ever have the intelligence or foresight to vote for a true progressive candidate. Most so-called “liberals” seem incapable of doing so because they have indoctrinated with D-party line. No, they always vote for the Republican who charades as a “Dem.” And they are too goddamned thick and stupid to see that’s exactdly what they do one election after the other. Suckers.
Then they wonder why little or nothing changes. DUH.
LOL imsam….
“Do you really want to campaign for a corporate War Criminal candidate just because they have a big D behind their name?”
They are all vetted these days Obama is a centrist - I called that all along - there are things he can’t do unless he wants one behind the ear (like Bobby).
Savior and War Criminal Obama is a “centrist?” Did you also consider Bush and Cheney “centrists?” I ask because Obama is CONTINUING the Bush/Cheney agenda/regime. He is continuing 2 illegal wars/occupations, illegal wire tapping, rendition, torture, giving trillions to the wealthy, the USA Patriot Act which shreds the US Constitution. THIS IS NOT CENTRIST. THIS IS RABID RIGHT-WING. One cannot get anymore right wing that this. Latinos are also being deported by the thousands. That is NOT “centrist.”
None of this neocon nonsense is “change we can believe in.”
Where is the change?
As far as the bullet behind the ear nonsense is concerned, savior Obama knew he could have a bullet behind the ear as a senator or as president. Either job. SInce when did that stop anyone from putting their agenda through if it is supposedly different than the Bush/Cheney agenda? Your savior has a super-majority in congress. How much longer will people like you continue to make excuses and apologies and defences for these useless millionaires who charade as politicians and who don’t give a damn about you or me? They are NOT all vetted. Kucinich is NOT vetted. What is wrong with voting for a true progressive like Kucinich? He even has a D behind his name?
Huh?
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. (Like voting for so-called “Dems” one election cycle after the other and expecting positive change).
Bobby Kennedy got a bullet behind the ear from a “contact wound” from behind. Sirhan Sirhan could have never accomplished that feat. RFK’s killer was a security guard - contracted through Lockheed-Martin…his name was Thane (odd first name) Ceaser.
please don’t be right imsam.

With your logic, if messiah Obama has to stay so far to the right to keep a bullet from his head, what is keeping an extremist on the “left” from doing the same thing?
Why don’t they just forget about all that nonsense, and get on with their agenda, assuming Obushma’s agenda is supposedly different than that of Bush/Cheney, which it obviously is not based on what he has done to date.
Obama served as a Bush-accomplice in the senate. So why would any thinking person expect legitimate positive “change” from this fraud?
OK - long post…here’s what I think happened:
The powers that be in the RNC/AIPAC/Whatever got together and realized that they are just SERIOUSLY getting their arses kicked. They looked around at the usual suspects for contenders and it hit them…we have NONE! There was likely a lot of pressure from vulnerable Reps in “Red turning Blue” states and they knew they had to do something. Installing a man of color as the (figure) Head of the RNC wasn’t working and Jindal showed he couldn’t get to the third set against Obama (a little tennis lingo there). So they had to make a move and Sarah was basically their only move. The only one who can draw a crowd.
So what do you do? You have to get Sarah down to the lower 48…away from all the loonies in Alaska…and make her look normal. That takes time - but while you are teaching her about things that first year law students already know - she can draw crowds in North Carolina (depending on the congressional district). Then….depending on how she does on helping to hold onto Rep districts in danger…you give her some jazz (money) to go for the 2012 spot.
There is a fallback position here - don’t promise her the world Mr. Rove (although she’ll want it)…maybe a ticket behind Pawlenty would work if the economy still sucks.
sounds logical to me. slightly scary, but logical.
Her speech is as convoluted as ever.
At the time of his assassination, Robert Kennedy was well on his way to becoming the next president of the United States. He was a populist candidate, loved by minorities and the working class.
He spoke eloquently about peace, equality and justice. He would have likely tried to put an end to the Vietnam war and to limit or even abolish the CIA.
Robert F. Kennedy was shot in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles just after giving his victory speech in the California primary for the Democratic presidential nomination. Not even 5 years after the killing of his brother, RFK, a progressive, highly popular candidate for president, was also stopped by a bullet to the head from a supposed “lone nut.”
While these circumstances are highly suspicious in themselves, we will see that as with the JFK assasination, the most basic facts–the trajectory of the bullets, the location of the supposed assassin, the nature of the injuries–are completely inconsistent with the government’s story.
Evidence
• Powder burns on Kennedy’s clothing and skin revealed that all three of his wounds were from a gun fired from 0 to 1-1/2 inches away. Sirhan’s gun could not possibly have done this; according to the witnesses Sirhan’s gun never got closer than three feet away. 1
• LA Coroner Thomas Noguchi, determined that the fatal shot came from about an inch away, right under Kennedy’s ear. Thus the shot came from behind Kennedy, while Sirhan was several feet in front of him. In his autobiography Noguchi stated, “”Until more is precisely known…the existence of a second gunman remains a possibility. Thus, I have never said that Sirhan Sirhan killed Robert Kennedy.” 7
• Three CIA operatives have recently been identified in photographs and video and placed at the Ambassador Hotel the night RFK was killed. The agents, David Morales, George Joannides, and Gordon Campbell worked together at the infamous Miami CIA station, JMWAVE. 9
• According to the BBC, “even under hypnosis, [Sirhan] has never been able to remember the shooting and defence psychiatrists concluded he was in a trance at the time…Dr Herbert Spiegel, a world authority on hypnosis at Columbia University, believes Sirhan may have been hypnotically programmed to act as a decoy for the real assassin.” 9
• Sirhan Sirhan’s revolver held a maximum of eight bullets. Kennedy was shot four times: one shot entered the head behind the right ear, a second one near the right armpit, a third just below the second and a fourth that went through Kennedy’s jacket but did not hit his body. Five other people were shot in addition to Kennedy, one of whom was shot twice. Barring any more “magic bullets,” that is a total of 10 bullets. Additionally, witnesses and photographs reveal that several ceiling tiles were pierced by bullets, making it nearly impossible that Sirhan was the only gunman.
• Thane Cesar was a security guard who was pressed up against Kennedy’s back right side and was holding Kennedy’s right arm in his left hand as Sirhan jumped out and fired his first two shots. Witnesses reported seeing Cesar fire
She is probably resigning because of some impending scandal that we will probably learn about in a week or so. I smell a rat; but the again, this politician has always had ethic issues surrounding her so this should come as no surprise if it indeed is the case. It will probably be something similar like the prior scandal ridden senator from Alaska who basically was convicted (later not so much (guilty) provided by manuevers from the Bush DOJ lawyers, convienient wouldn’t you say). His conviction was regarding his residence being provided in exchange for contracts. I doubt Palin would have done the exact same thing. (Check out Bradblog.com).
I bet one of her slut daughters is pregnant again and she can’t get out of the spotlight soon enough.
Do we really need to be exposed to this prepubescent chimpette Bush knockoff who thinks its important that she can see Alaska from her kitchen window when seriously considering an election for the President of the United States of America? Do Republicans seriously think the average voter will be entering kindergarten in the next year or two? Maybe the Republicans will finally be happy when we elect a pet rock to the Presidency….
