Daily Show: Perpendiculars are ‘eerie’ for Iranians and GOP
On Thursday’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart dissected remarks made by Congressional Republicans that compared their election losses to the plight of the Iranian people.
Rep. Pete Hoekstra (R-MI) sent an early Thursday Twitter declaring “Iranian twitter activity similar to what we did in the Hosue last year when Republicans were shut down in the House.”
Stewart agreed that both were the “exact same.”
“One group a victim of a fraudulent election,” Stewart mocked. “The other group lost an election, but still — [ laughter ] — the parallels are eerie. Not parallels, the perpendiculars.”

My heart goes out to the disenfranchised Iranians whose votes were stolen. Kinda reminds me of 2000 and 2004 here, doesn’t it. But here’s what puzzles me; the Iranians stood up for their rights…we didn’t. I don’t remember millions in the streets either time Bush and the GOP stole the presidential election here. What do you think is the difference?
Amerikuns feel they only place they are heard is on Amerikun Idol, and it’s probably more important in their lives. They were not educated in public schools, they were indoctrinated to believe - believe anything they are told by the corporate media.
Stewart manages to put things in their proper perspective each and every time.
He is a master at pointing out the repuglicant’s absurdity, and makes them look like exactly what they are - pouty, petulent children who sit in the sand box and call the other kids “doodie heads”.
Congrats, Jon - you’ve done it again!
The Iranian election isn’t even America’s business. We have no ties to the nation, it’s not our business. No diplomacy, no embassy, just a lust for what lies in the Caspian.
Furthermore, given the number of foreign elections this country has rigged over the years, as well as just outright murder, America is hardly in a position to judge. Manufactured concern over the plight of Iranians is nothing but shitty propaganda. Suddenly all the media is concerned over the protesting Iranians and the handfull of dead from the protests, while as usual nothing is said about who we murdered in the countries to the left and right of Iran.
I view Stewarts show as propaganda as well, always here to help us cynically laugh our way through our problems rather than grabbing those problems by the balls and squeezing them. Stewart is literally news for dummies, just there to deflate and diffuse Americas outrage and turn it into somthing funny. If you need Jon Stewart to help you shed light on things, you’re a fucking moron.
