Howard Dean: Insurance co-ops won’t solve problem
Sen. Kent Conrad has offered a compromise solution for reforming health care using insurance cooperatives to expand coverage without direct government control.
Gov. Howard Dean says cooperatives won’t solve the problem.
“It doesn’t fix the American problem,” Dean told MSNBC’s Contessa Brewer. “I think the co-ops are a fine idea but they won’t work.
“The co-ops are too small to compete with the big private insurance companies,” Dean continued. “They will kill the co-ops simply by undercutting them and using their financial clout to do it.
“This is a compromise that’s designed to deal with problems in the Senate but it doesn’t deal with problems in America,” said the former Democratic presidential candidate. “And I think it’s time for the Senate to stop playing politics. Do what has to be done.
“If the Republicans don’t want to get on board then we can do this without the Republicans,” Dean insisted. “We have the votes.”

Isn’t it a shame that Obama doesn’t give a shit what Dean says?
If “we the people” don’t get the same exact plan that the politicians and government employees have, the medical care we get will degenerate into something you wouldn’t use for a stray cat.
The problem with the Senate is that too many of the Senators directly involved in healthcare reform own stock in companies that would be adversely affected by real reform. From Reid on down they are protecting their interests at our expense.
Congress, in general, is filled with mutli-millionaires or spouses of them; you get that way in America by “investing”.. which means you have a pro-corporate bent .. which means you have an anti-consumer bent.. and the public of America is nothing but a giant consumer body these days. 66% of our “wealth” is from “consumption”, the math doesn’t add up, and the formula is putting our future labor in the pockets of the few.
The world won’t do what it needs to because the very few are incredibly sick and diseased in the brain.. they are greedy powermongers who don’t want to live their lives, they want to control everyone elses.. they want to abuse the masses for their own gain.. Life doesn’t have to be like that, we’re not shit flinging monkeys in the trees any more (well, a lot of us aren’t).

good stuff.
Obama would not be president if we had listened to Rahm who wanted to do it the old way. We listened to dean and Obama made it..When Obama kicked dean to the curb, it was like he did the same to us..Thanks Howard for all you did, I ,appreciate it..
