New video shows officer shove, then taser 72-year-old great grandmother

Fox News has obtained police dashboard video of the tasering of a 72 year old great grandmother in Travis County, TX.
The police claim that after Kathryn Winkfein was stopped for driving 15 miles over the speed limit in a construction zone, she disobeyed an order to sign the speeding ticker, used profane language, and became “violent.” They say the officer who tasered her and took her to be booked for resisting arrest was completely justified.
However, Winkfein says that’s a lie, and the video appears to back her up.
It shows Constable Richard McCain screaming, “Get over here now!” Winkfein replies, “Give [the ticket] to me and I’ll sign it.” Instead, the officer reaches out and pushes her, and she starts complaining, “Oh, you’re going to shove me? You’re going to shove a seventy-two year old woman?”
McCain then tasers her. As Winkfein lies on the ground screaming, he orders, “Now put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back or you’re going to be tasered again.”
Fox’s Brian Kilmeade commented after running the video, “Officers insisted they acted by the book. What book is that?”

I smell massive law suit.
That was so sad to see. She was willful, and not completely cooperative, but she is also small, frail, and 72-years-old. If an officer did that to my 70-year-old father, I’d be assaulting the cop.
The police state is alive and well. The SS rounded up the elderly and killed them. Wonder how much longer until the same occurs here in the the good ole’ US of A. To Serve and Protect needs to be changed to I am the Judge, Jury and Executioner. I hope his momma is proud of him now.

Every justification in defense of taser deaths quotes the false portrayals that this weapon is somehow “non-lethal”.

Nowhere on their website is the phrase “less-lethal” used.
If “less lethal” were used in conjunction with their claim that the device is “safe”, that would be an oxymoron. They know the track record of deaths resulting from their weapon and they are currently under litigation for many of the deaths resulting from their misrepresentation of this weapon as being “safe”. A lack of adequate testing and independent medical evidence supporting the company’s bold marketing claims have been cited by such diverse critics as Amnesty International, the American Civil Liberties Union, and a consulting electrical engineers as reasons for removing the stun guns from the market until more extensive testing is done especially with respect to how the device affects pregnant women, people on drugs, or those with heart conditions.
Because the number of deaths resulting from tasers is publicly available knowledge, both the manufacturer of tasers and any law enforcement agency that causes a death from use of this lethal weapon should be held culpable and be tried in a court of law for their actions.
Congress needs to investigate the false claims relating to this weapon as they did with false claims which resulted in deaths that were caused by the tobacco, pharmaceutical and auto industries.

I can’t believe a “public safety officer” of TX tasered a 72 year old women. I think this is funny/sick on a few levels. Why is it in the attempt to make someone safer that the person is harmed in someway “their own good”. Getting tazed so she wouldn’t walk into the road(if thats where she was going). If you notice she wasn’t angry until the three hundred pound bezerker almost pushed her on her butt. If the situation was so dire then why didn’t the esteemed officer call for backup. Apparently he couldn’t control her with his little sausage digits alone. Radios don’t work in TX? Plus what was he going to do physically make her sign it, probably not the first time this COP has used his physical stance to force females into compliance. As an elected “Safety Officer” I think he should be tossed out of office with no pay. Then sent to jail for assaulting the women to begin with(he started it){he probably loves to scare and hurt women whenever he gets the chance}. When that is over with he should have to go and take thirty hours of women studies (wearing a pink flower dress) so he understands that even if he is a big bully you don’t hurt women.

On the other hand, she was resisting arrest and he could have thrown more charges at her but instead he tasered her. How did they handle this kind of thing without a taser? Surely they had to deal with this before?
Texas also has a highway where they pull Black drivers over and are allowed to take any money they find, keep it, and spend it on their secretaries or go on a dream getaway….asset forfeiture law. And they’ve been getting away with it for a while. The head of the police in that town had to qualms telling CNN he was doing nothing wrong by confiscating the money and spending it on his secretaries. I find it interesting that his superiors would say openly that she refused to sign the ticket when she clearly said she WOULD sign it. CLEARLY. Did they NOT look at the tape? Or did they just figure that it wouldn’t come out that the pig was lying?

SHE was violent? The cop shoved her first, according to the tape. And that tape is from the GD police cruiser, it’s NOT from some other source. The tape shows that this cop is a lying prick, and has NO business being out in public with a gun OR a taser. In fact, he should be locked up before he hurts or kills someone, if he hasn’t already.

This society has gained a passive acceptance of the use of pain and torture simply for the purpose of forcing compliance. The cop was punishing the old woman with a potentially lethal device for her non-compliance. A parent doing this to a child would be convicted of child abuse, but it seems to be accepted policy for police to do it to adults.
The officer in court can simply say, “I felt threatened” and the jury will acquit.

The tape is more complete and it is obvious he spent considerable time attempting to deal with her. Only after he told her she was under arrest for not singing did she swear at him and say she would sign. He pushed her to get both of them out of the road where she kept backing him up. On he lauer tape it is clear she dared him numerous times to taser her. When she twisted away from him and continued to confront him he finally did. She asked for it and deserved it. Of course most of you don’t want to hear or know the truth in these matters so I enjoy sticking it in your faces.
That’s definitely a much more complete picture. She was obviously more of a pain than she let in in her side of the story. HOWEVER…
…I still don’t see why Gigantor had to taser the silly little woman. He could have kept negotiating or just used good old fashioned restraint techniques; whatever they used to teach these people at the academy. People can be difficult, but as an officer of the law I would expect him not to take it personally and just act like a professional. This wasn’t a mano a mano faceoff. He didn’t need to “win” (and he certainly wasn’t in any danger). Call for backup or something! Sheesh!
I mean, really: what DID these cops do before they had tasers? I’d be willing to bet that pepper spray came out far less often than does the taser because the shit got everywhere and as the one using it, the cop was bound to get a little blowback into his eyes.
