Former Vice President Dick Cheney wants a do-over. After being party to an administration that repeatedly sought to tie the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks with Saddam Hussein, he’s ready to let that assertion go.
In an interview with Fox News’ Greta van Susteren Monday, Cheney said there was no evidence tying Iraq and 9/11 — and that there never was.
“On the question of whether or not Iraq was involved in 9-11, there was never any evidence to prove that,” he told the Fox host. “There was “some reporting early on … but that was never borne out… [Former CIA Director] George [Tenet] … did say and did testify that there was an ongoing relationship between al-Qaeda and Iraq, but no proof that Iraq was involved in 9-11.”
Cheney’s comments are a marked shift from those he made in 2003. Pressed to disavow assertions that Iraq was in any way involved with the attacks, the then-VP claimed the administration was learning “more and more” about al Qaeda-Iraq ties.
Now, after 4,308 US servicemembers have lost their lives in Iraq, and no longer in office, the vociferous GOP hawk has appears to have changed his mind.

Why are the videos of the 911 Pentagon “crash” being hidden? I think to any rational, intelligent person the reason is obvious: all of the videos of the Pentagon on that day were immediately confiscated because they would show that it was NOT a Boeing 757-200 commercial airliner that hit the Pentagon. (Recall Rumsfeld’s slip-of-the-tongue moment when he referred to what hit the Pentagon as being a “missile.”) This fact, of course, would discredit the official version and bring into question everything else. These videos were the “smoking gun.”
Personally, I don’t see how anyone can come to any other conclusion. These videos would have supported the bush administration’s version of events on that day and settled this matter years ago. Instead, they were confiscated by someone in the govt or someone representing themselves as having authority to seize the videos and kept from the public. I suspect they were destroyed.
The Pentagon is the most secure facility in the world. There is simply no place on Earth with more surveillance cameras than the Pentagon.
Only a freaking republicon would be stupid enough to believe that they “just didn’t catch it on camera”.

If you recall, Cheney and Rumsfeld were in both the Nixon and Ford administrations; nothing came of the treasonous behavior that was Richard M. Nixon.
Fast-forward 34 years, and you have the fruit from that generation - Cheney together with Rumsfeld have far, far exceeded the crimes of Nixon.
And you have new seeds in the form of Yoo, Bybee, Addington, et. al. If they, along with Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Perle, Wolfowitz, Rice (the list goes on and on) — if they’re allowed to go free under the wacky notion of “looking forward”, they’ll know FOR CERTAIN that the future belongs to them.
What will the next iteration of this monstrosity become?
The next time around, maybe another 20-30 years, maybe they will finally succeed where Prescott Bush and his ilk failed in the 1930s. And where Nixon failed in the 60s/70s, and where Bush’s handlers failed in the young 21st century.
