‘Go home Nazi scum,’ Serb hardliners tell Biden

“Biden, you Nazi scum, go home,” said the posters brandished by opposition Radical Party deputies during the live national broadcast of a parliament sitting which coincided with the start of Biden’s visit.
The Radicals, who occupy around a fifth of places in the 250-seat assembly, then pasted the signs which also labelled Biden a “fascist” on a notice board and hallway.
They all appeared in parliament dressed in T-shirts bearing the image of the party’s president, Vojislav Seselj, who is currently on trial for war crimes before a UN tribunal in The Hague.
Seselj’s acting leader Dragan Todorovic described Biden’s visit as “the saddest day in Serbia’s history.”
The United States represented “all bad things that have struck the Serbian people, and whose inspirer was for the large part Biden,” Todorovic was as quoted as saying by Tanjug news agency.
Nationalist Serbs are deeply sceptical of Biden’s visit, which the US vice president said was part of the Obama administration’s bid to develop “healthy” relations with the former pariah state.
US warplanes took part in NATO’s 1999 bombing of Serbia to end a violent crackdown on separatist Kosovo Albanian rebels by forces loyal to late autocratic president Slobodan Milosevic.
The 1998-1999 Kosovo conflict killed several thousand people and saw hundreds of thousands flee the disputed territory. Most victims were ethnic Albanians.
Serb authorities have imposed stringent security measures for Biden’s visit, part of a landmark tour of the Balkan region also taking in Bosnia and Kosovo.
Kosovo is an ethnic Albanian-majority territory whose ethnic Albanian-dominated parliament seceded from Serbia in February 2008 and was promptly recognised by the United States.
Although Belgrade’s pro-Western government is keen to improve ties with Washington, it insists it will never recognise the independence of Kosovo, which many Serbs see as their historic heartland.

Anybody wonder why they’re a pariah state?
I wonder more about why it is we bombed them, why we helped Islamic terrorists wage war there, why we did things like, send the CIA in to Macedonia after Albanian KLA terrorists (who literally make cheesy altars to Osama and people of that ilk) began attacking Macedonia, to escort them safely out of the country after they murdered several policemen, and stuff like that. I’m also wondering if there will be gas piplines running though Kosovo. Or is that a heroin pipeline? Great little war there though, remember the Chinese Embassy? The time we bombed that convoy of civilians fleeing, what was that, like 76 dead with one bomb? Then there was Frank Rongi, swell guy, beat and raped a 12 year old, then murdered her. That’s the U.S. Army for you, a child rapist/murderer in every bunch.
that war had many mistakes, but you have neglected to mention things like srebernica and other genocidal rampages performed by mr milosevic and the republica serbska.
many civilians died, but hundreds of thousands had already been slaughtered and that slaughter was put to a stop by the NATO action.

I am truly saddened by your ignorance. Let me enlighten you a bit:
You wonder why NATO decided to bomb the serbian regime, led by Milosevic… here is why: The ultra-nationalist treated any non-serb in Yugoslavia as second class citizens since Tito died, and milosevic wanted to turn a multi-ethnic yugoslavia into a purely serb run country. He did this by stripping away Kosovo’s autonomy on June 23rd 1989. Yugoslavia under Tito was peaceful for the most part, but after his death, the Croats had to fight serbian ultra-nationalism; the Bosnians had to fight, and ultimately the Albanians did as well…
The KLA was fighting for self determination, just like the Croats, just like the Bosnians (you can call Croatians separatists too in that sense). And fighting for self-determination, because Albanians were being ethnically cleansed, because they were treated as second class citizens (even try to deny that this was not true) just like Nelson Mandela was called a terrorist by the apartheid state of South Africa, you call the KLA a terrorist organization.
Just to get a few facts straight, the KLA was a uniformed militia. The KLA did not venture outside of Albanian occupied territories. The KLA mainly targeted serbian state entities, they did not set off any bombs in Novi Sad, or Nis, or Belgrade. And ultimately, what makes the KLA’s struggle more legitimate than that of the serbian ultra-nationalists, at leaste the KLA sent every one to the Hague, when they had a warrant for their arrest, respecting international law. You can not say the same for the serbian state.
